How do you guys feel about Benedict?

He's made to pay a big name villain, but not Batman, I don't think.

Might make a fantastic Joker though.

Dat elongated facial structure.

I can see him as a Joker, he looks creepy in that new wiki leaks movie

He seems more cerebral and cynical than maniacal. I could see him as The Riddler or Mr Freeze, or even Hush. Not Batman or The Joker..

Im starting to think of him as Batman with that look he had as Khan...hmmm.

Riddler, Brainiac, Darkseid (voice), Freeze, Joker. This guy may be able to play any one of them. His voice would certainly fit Freeze in such a fantastic way. But Batman could actually work. With his deep voice but clear and commanding...it could be terrifying under the cowl.

That's probably the first pic of Cumberbatch I've seen where I can see him as Bruce/Batman.

Marvel's already got him on their radar though. :awesome:

i dont see karl urban at all im surprised hes so popular, hes sooo ugly

That's a terrible basis of opinion. Urban would make a great Batman.

Agreed. Cumberbatch as Freeze would rock.

I'd also like to see Hugh Dancy as The Riddler.

Karl Urban would make a great Batman? What are you smoking?

Besides the ability to make that angry, Batman-like frown face (like he did during all of Dredd) and the ability to crack one-liners (like he did during all of Into Darkness), what's so good about him?

Ooooh, Cumberbatch as Freeze would indeed be something great.

Damn it, we deserve a good on-screen Mr. Freeze!

*waits patiently for Kane to show up*

Urban is a really good actor, imo. He can easily portray the suave/*****ey playboy Bruce persona as well as the grim Batman persona. He'd likely use his Dredd voice, which was a mix of Conroy and Bale, and that'd work perfectly, too.

There isn't much to hold against Urban as Batman besides his age. Why don't you think he can do it?

Agreed. If they adapted Heart of Ice into a 2 hour live action movie, that'd be something really spectacular.

What do you guys think of Liam McIntyre as Batman? I don't know much about him, but he seems like he'd fit the part, and he apparently wants it.

Never seen him acting wise so it's hard to judge him in that department but from a look perspective I could see why he could make a decent Batman.

For me the casting of Batman is all about the eyes & mouth, both of which have to give off the aura that you could have the crap beat out of you at any point.

I'm sure this name has popped up before in here, but what do people think about Henry Cavill's Immortals buddy Luke Evans? He's someone I feel has a good look about him & his acting is solid as well.

Wes Bentley isn't another bad shout in my view, he has a very Batman like look about him in the eyes anyway.

I could definitely see Luke Evans in the role.

I think Cumberbatch would make a great/extremely different Joker. But this is how I see it..

He can either be a Superman solo villain like Brainiac. Or voicing Darkseid in an eventual Justice League.

Or as a Bat villain (if he's not Batman himself). Besides Joker, I say Mr. Freeze.

I think casting him in a similar role to Khan may be too cliché. Cast in a big budget sci-fi action team-up or alien invasion from space story. To play the villain with deep scary voice. Basically Khan dressed up as an alien/robot is how the general audience may see it if he's Brainiac. It could work but I find it more compelling if he was given something like Bruce Wayne or a Bat villain like Freeze where he can do something different from Khan.

So I vote Benedict Cumberbatch for either Freeze or Bats. Let's hope when Snyder and his wife saw Star Trek a couple months back, they were scouting talent. You have Cumberbatch (Brainiac? Batman?), Pine (Flash? Green Lantern?) and Urban (Batman?) all there.

OK, since there are multiple threads on Batman casting, I will throw out some names here -

James Marsden, Luke Evans, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew Bomer.

Batman - Bomer
Gordon - Cranston
Alfred - Daulton/Brosnan/Rickman
Leslie Thompkins - Helen Mirren/Jamie Lee Curtis
Bullock - Dean Norris/Michael Madsen
Joker - Matt Smith/Bardem
Harley - Jane Levy
Poison Ivy- Christina Hendricks/Gemma Arterton
Riddler - Hugh Dancy/Michael Emerson
Freeze - Benedict Cumberbatch
Black Mask - Viggo Mortensen/Luke Evans
Penguin - David Suchet
Rupert Thorne - Philip Seymour Hoffman
Hugo Strange - Christoph Waltz

One thing to take into consideration is that this Batman will be standing shoulder to shoulder with Cavill's Superman. He's gonna need to be BIG for it to look plausible. I think Cavill would dwarf Bale in TDKR, so the new actor needs to bulk up very seriously. (get Mark Twight, Cavill's trainer).

I don't think Bomer or Madden have suitable frames for playing a superhero...casting is about more than just pretty faces, after all.

Superman and Batman are usually pretty similar in size, with Supes being a bit taller.

David Giuntoli is Batman. Just imagine how great he would look alongside Cavill on screen.
