that looks like billy crudup wth more forehead. i wouldnt buy that for an amalgam of all the bat actors.

liam macyntire's campaigning for it. when's that ever work. i love his look though.

I think Cavill would dwarf Bale in TDKR, so the new actor needs to bulk up very seriously.
That wouldn't have happened. Cavill's only an inch taller than Bale, and with all that extra bulk that the bat-suit/armor added, they would have been about the same size, too. They would've looked just fine on screen together. I'm glad they're not continuing with that Batman anyway, for the record, I'm just saying that wouldn't have been an issue.

As far as casting goes, I don't have a singular favorite because I don't even know what "type" they'll be going for this time. There are lots of different types of actors who could play Batman. These are a few I like...

-The "Christian Bale" Type (intense, internal, Euro-class actor with some acclaimed performances under his belt): Michael Fassbender

And I don't need to hear about how he's tied to another franchise. I've heard it all before.

-The "Older, Grizzled Badass" Type
: We've never really gotten this Batman in live-action, and I'd like to. Though I realize it's unlikely in the "World's Finest" film, a girl can dream. I have 2 faves for this type. Jon Hamm

and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

-The "Known-But-Not-That-Known" Type
: Lee Pace, less for the look and more for the awesome acting skills and that perfect voice. But he does have a kind of old-Hollywood handsomeness that I think would be fine for what Bruce needs.

In this category, I'd also be willing to give Matt Bomer a shot, though while he's the perfect Bruce, I'm not as confident about his ability to pull off the Batman side of things. With Lee, there's no doubt in my mind that both personae would be a walk in the park for him from an acting standpoint.

-The "In Between" Type
:
Karl Urban

This is basically my "compromise" pick - not my top choice, but I'd be totally cool with it. Since we almost certainly won't be seeing anymore of his Dredd, I could see his Bats being similarly effective: Stoic badass with an awesomely dry humorous undercurrent. And that voice he was doing sounds like the voice Bale was always trying to do all along, lol. And based on how animated his performance as Bones in Star Trek is in comparison, I think he might have a lot of fun with the Bruce Wayne persona.

-The "Wildcard/Total Unknown" Type
- Jamie Dornan

Someone in the previous casting threads brought him up several months ago and I dismissed him as more of a Hal Jordan type, as I didn't think he could pull off the gravitas. However, having now been impressed by his dark side in BBC's The Fall, which was just a really good performance, I'm much more intrigued by the prospect. He's also right around Cavill's age and would be a good match for him, I think.

Anyhoo, as I mentioned, of these different types, my preference would be the "grizzled" Bats over anything, unlikely as it may be now. :csad:

One thing to take into consideration is that this Batman will be standing shoulder to shoulder with Cavill's Superman. He's gonna need to be BIG for it to look plausible. I think Cavill would dwarf Bale in TDKR, so the new actor needs to bulk up very seriously. (get Mark Twight, Cavill's trainer).

I don't think Bomer or Madden have suitable frames for playing a superhero...casting is about more than just pretty faces, after all.

I think Bomer has a pretty strong foundation to build upon.

Considering Cavill himself looked like this mere years ago:

And there's always padding.

Honestly, why do people bother discussing physique. Look at hemsworth before Thor.

Physique is really one of the last things that needs to be considered when picking who the actor is. Assuming they aren't particularly out of shape in one way or the other.

Actors you wouldn't expect are getting jacked these days.

Aaaron Johnson as Kick-Ass even got in pretty good shape for his role.

bomer's in better shape then cavill is right now. he never looks out of shape. in contrast, henry seems to be a little frumpy. good thing he doesn't pack much weight on his face.

The more I see of Urban the more I want him in the role!!! He was fantastic in Dredd and I would like to see that intensity from him as batman.

Can anyone link to Urban doing anything other than "tough guy"? His credentials as a fearsome Batman are undisputed, but I'm not sure about his range.

My two favorite choices: Anson Mount or Richard Armitage. Richard has a slight advantage because his younger.

Undisputed? Wouldn't go that far.

Pretty good shape and the physique's that Bale and especially now Cavill had for Supes are two completely different things.

His performance as Bones in the new Star Trek movies took him out of the stereotypical action mold a bit. From what I hear, he was more humorous in those movies. There are some clips of it on YouTube to give you an idea, though I can't link o them at the moment because I'm at work.

He was also Eomer in LOTR, if that matters.

Never seen the Star Trek movies? Shame on you! But yeah he was funny, but in a angry kind of way.

exactly, bomer could get batman huge if given the resources cavill was given

Long time no post , jeeez Mecha. Well had to chime in.

I've stood right next to Bomer (some of you may know i work in the industry. commercials mostly-writer/producer) He is short. 5'8 for real. Very Good looking dude though (and im straight)

I would LOVE luke evans in this role. He possess this intensity in his face that is a 180 from Bale's batman. but like Bomer there is the sexual orientation "issue" (i know its 2013 etc. but i dont think WB will pull that trigger)

N-O To hammer. not after that MASSIVE flop of lone ranger. too soon for another summer tentpole for him.

Also would love John Hamm BUT Age is working against him in this respect.

This one is not easy to guess the casting on. Urban is no spring chicken either, and PERSONALLY gosling and JAke G have very high voices naturally.

This one's a tough one...

really? i never really thought he was 5-11.5 that they say he is, but 5-8?

i think he's probably more 5-10 then either 5-11 or 5-8.

it depends though. often times when someone is out of shape they're face can get softer and rounder, fatter for lack of a better word, less heroic looking and that might say someone casting one way or another.

Eh, Bomer is super hot and talented but he's more Superman than Batman. And I don't get the Joe M as Batman crusade. I would give him and anybody else not named Charlie Hunnam the benefit of the doubt if they scored the role but I wouldn't be excited. He's an okay actor but he comes off as a meat head and or Lumberjack, Bruce Wayne/Batman isn't either of those things.
