The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 5

The only problem is that Armie Hammer might be our new Taylor Kitsch, in which Hollywood thinks he's Box Office Poison.

Kitsch has disappeared. Hammer's on thin ice, in my opinion.

I don't know... Hammer might be the actual choice (you're right), but Zack Synder worked with a certain someone on Sucker Punch...

If we're putting real money on this and not Monopoly money, I'd say, realistically it's between:

- Armie Hammer
- Joe Manganiello
- Jon Hamm

I just don't think WB/Snyder are even considering anyone else, and if they are, it's a Dollar-Sign Dream of Christian Bale or Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Agreed.

Those 3 are probably their top choices, considering past history.

Realistically it will be between Manganiello, Luke Evans and Wes Bentley.

Luke Evans is in Hobbit, a WB movie, so he should be on radar.

No to Manganiello and Wes Bentley.

My choices are -

James Marsden, Jake Gyllenhaal and Luke Evans.

Ill be pissed if Gyllenhaal takes this. Not as pissed as Armie Hammer (which will never happen) but still.

Luke Evans and Joe Manganiello sound like something WB/Snyder will be looking into. Even though im sure there's much better choices out there.

I'd be pretty excited if Gyllenhaal was cast. He's a great actor, but I have no ****ing clue what he'd be like as Batman. I'd much rather have that than some guy with a gruff voice from True Blood.

Agreed. Cast on talent, not on type.

What about Liam McIntyre? I know he has been suggested before. He's got that pretty boy look, but he can also look menacing. Plus, he's a big Batman fan and tweeted last night that he was interested.

I don't see them casting Hamm. This is definitely going to be a younger Bruce Wayne. I could see them casting Manganiello, but I doubt it. Armie is probably a top choice, but there are others.

Thumbs up!

I don't understand... why do fans keep choosing actors who are completely wrong for the character? Jake Gyllenhaal is an excellent actor and he'd make an incredible Flash or GL, but he's not dark enough, gruff enough, or manly enough to be Batman. Jake's got the voice of a kid, not Batman. I'm all for casting based on talent over type, but you can't just take any young talented actor and say he should play Batman. By that logic, I nominate Aaron Paul for Batman.

Is the voice something you guys don't care about? Because that's a major worry I've got.

We know you like this Joe guy for his "gruff manliness".

We just think it's more important to have a good actor.

Not saying it has to be Joe, but I'm saying the next Batman should have those characteristics. Even Bale had them, to an extent.

Im kind of back on the Matt Bomer train. But im still very unsure of him when he's in the cowl. Im willing to give him a chance.

YES.

I know he's a divisive choice but I think he could nail it. Just because he hasn't played dark before, doesn't mean he can't play it. The dude can act, would look great opposite Henry, and is different enough from Bale to create a fresh take.

I'd be up for Bomer as Bats. He's not gruff, but he does resemble comic book Bruce quite a bit. I think he'd be able to give us a very Rino Romano-esque Batman, which is cool.

And lookswise, he's everything I want from a Batman.

That's actually a fantastic "Billionaire-Playboy-Bruce Wayne" pic.

Yeah, why exactly are we putting things like height and voice and hair color as higher priorities for these roles than actual acting ability? It's like, Jesus Christ, you people...

Talent is important, but so is being right for the part. If the part is a badass square-jawed superhero, you can't cast a weaselly-looking twentysomething just because he can act and looks good in a suit.
