The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 7

I definitely like Ben Foster over Goggins for the Joker. I'm a huge Goggins fan but after years of watching him on Justified and The Shield, he feels too rednecky to play the Joker to me.

Do you guys prefer a good looking Joker like Leto or a totally deranged/deformed-looking Joker?

Depends on your taste in cosplayers:

I’m not picky. A prettier Joker would be a nice change of pace, but if you put a gun to my head, I’d probably go for an obviously deranged interpretation. Frankly, the role is so hard to play that I almost don’t care what he looks like* as long as the performance is solid.

*He does, of course, need to have green hair, red lips, and at least a white face.

Goggins has those crazy eyes. He would be a great Joker.

But I love that Ben Foster pick. I never even thought of him till Boom mentioned it, and I think it's a perfect choice.
I love Ben Foster. If Reeves wants to use the character and isn't keen on bringing Leto back, Foster should be his first call. Criminally underrated actor. He'd be perfect opposite someone like Gyllenhaal.

I was good with the cast until I got to Jane Levy. It just went downhill from there.

Alfred was taller than Bruce in the 66 series!

Definitely. Alan Napier was 6'6". He was taller than pretty much everybody that has ever been a live action Batman. And Adam West was no shrimp, he was 6'2". Even taller than Ben Affleck, who is 6'4".
(Fun fact, Joker was Jack Napier in Batman 1989 because the name was a combination of Jack Nicholson and Alan Napier)

I’m actually totally convinced now. Foster really is the best choice. So many of his roles seem almost like an audition for Joker.

Goggins looks the part but I’m not convinced he could play it well

Batman - Jake Gyllenhaal
The Joker - Ben Foster

That **** would rival Bale and Ledger

I think the Ben Foster pick is probably the best fancasting choice I have seen on thee forums.

Again, great pick, Boom.

I concur. But maybe that would be the fear for an actor playing the role. Being too closely linked with Ledger's Joker.

Foster is really underrated. Shame he isn't a bigger star.

Affleck isn't 6'4. I believe he's listed as 6'3 or 6'2 1/2. Not much of a difference I admit.

But interesting that West was the tallest Batman for 50 years. Keaton is 5'9, Clooney is 5'10, Kilmer is 5'11, Bale is 6'0

Oh, okay. When I googled the various actors it listed Ben Affleck as 6'4" and I was just going off of that. It's funny that Tom Hardy is 5'9" and yet as Bane he is supposed to be this huge monster that broke the 6'0" Bale's Batman's back.
Anne Hathaway's 5'8" Catwoman was almost the same height as Bane.
