The Batman Reboot JOKER Casting Thread

I'm sure Cumberbatch could act the hell out of being Joker and he is quite the impressionist not to mention he can contort his face into many animated expressions (see all the faces he made as Smaug with motion-capturing) but my only worry is the voice.

In my head, I don't picture Joker with a low voice.

I think it is the range and theatricality that makes The Joker's voice. I imagine that the median pitch may be less important than you might suppose.

Heath had a deep voice and listen to what he did.

I have an even deeper voice and I can impersonate Mark Hamill's and Heath's respective Joker's down to a t lol

After giving it much thought last night, Cumberbatch as Joker would be a fun new take. And I'm sure Cumberbatch, like Heath, would make the character frightening, maniacal, but also playful and lighthearted at the same time and if he could stretch his voice like he does his face--- I'm sure he could come up with some Joker voice that just wows the audience the first moment it's heard.

So count me in. I dig the idea.

Now, how about Martin Freeman as The Riddler? :cwink:

Hey, BattleAngel! Think you can work your Joker-manip-magic on this Cumberbatch image?

I'll toss Jared Leto's name out there.

District 9's sharlto Copley? "Keip tha gan on im Thomas, ei is definetley a criminel!!"

I do the eyes that weird purple because I feel like the next Joker needs to really distinguish himself from the Heath interpretation - those black eyes for Heath are just too iconic (and I don't recall them being staples on any other Joker). I like the sort of glam-horror look. I still think Simon Pegg (as I imagine him) is my favorite Joker, but Cumberbatch has captured my imagination while working on him...

Looks a bit like Ronald Reagan and Clay Aitken had a baby haha.

I'm in the school of thought that Cumberbatch is way over exposed and is to go-to to be my favorite choice, but I've enjoyed manipping his photos.

It just reminds me of Green Arrow's spray-painted on mask.

Albeit like many people have pointed out Heath had the black rings around the eyes. I guess I just like the idea of Joker applying on his own lipstick and eye shadow ala "TDKR."

I agree - I like the idea of him applying his own makeup/lipstick, and I imagine that's what my Jokers do. I think they do have somewhat distorted mouths, but from the acid bath, not glasgow smiles, that are naturally gnarly looking and kind of bulbous, as you would find on victim of an acid attack, that are then lipsticked. The eyes are definitely eyeshadow too, just hooker-esque electric pink instead of back.

And here he is without that big ol' stogey...

Definitely my best Joker manip yet!

Very good.

I prefer that kind of white for the Joker. Looks more disturbing.
But rather than the pink color around his eyes, try red. Like the Arkham Asylum Serious House look. Make him more demonic looking.

Cumberbatch as Joker is just a bad idea.

There's nothing about him that makes me think of the Joker. He's good and i like him but he's also incredibly over-hyped. In general it's a very lazy snoozefest of a choice since he's pretty much the villain of the Star Trek franchise, the Hobbit movies (even if it's only his voice), and will most likely have a role in the new Star Wars. Probably as a villain too.

Shauner - I totally agree with you. Overhyped and go-to villain. I also don't really love his Sherlock tbh, but I wanted to do the manip since Bluerayer requested it and I think he's one of the few people on this site who don't give me a hard time haha.

I like the suggestion of him as The Joker a lot than other roles. He's getting typecast as the cold, calculating villain. The Joker seems like a role where he could get, to quote Danny Devito, real weird with it.
