The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

I honestly, the more I watch this movie (4 times now), the more Im in awe of the cinematography. It is absolutely marvelous!

That first scene, with the Riddler is just a marvel in terms of lighting, camera angle, use of production design. The very first time we see the Riddler when the Mayor move to pick up the phone, is just an example how to use light. Using the light of the TV was just brilliant movie. And then to have the tiny reflection of the TV in Riddler's glasses, like he has a glowing white eyes is just a beauty.

Then the whole next scene with the bat signal is another master class of cinematography.

I can sit and talk this films photography for hours, as this is my field and I dream I can be this good some day.

With this and Dune, Fraiser is becoming my favorite DP at the moment.

If we’re talking love interests, Andrea Beaumont hasn’t had a live action appearance yet either.

I watched Mask of the Phantasm this past week and it really seemed like portions of the story would fit in Reeves' world really well. I doubt we'll see it, but I really like the whole trajectory of that story and Andrea as a love interest that doesn't come off as trite or forced.

She’d be fun, but I do think they’ve already done the whole vengeful femme fatale thing already with Catwoman’s story in this movie so I can’t help but feel Andrea would be a bit redundant to me unless they do a new story with her. Also, unless you change the character somewhat, I can’t ever see Andrea’s character ever having any romance with this more withdrawn emo Bruce. This isn’t the DCAU version where’s he still seems like a normal guy aside from dressing up as a flying rat to punch bad guys in the face. And I don’t ever see this Bruce ever nearly abandoning the idea of being a vigilante for Andrea. Which is part of what makes Andrea is a significant in the story of DCAU as she the one thing that could’ve prevented Bruce from being Batman. I just couldn’t see a Reeves Andrea serving the same purpose in this particular version of the character as the original DCAU one did with theirs.

Whatever that facial scarring is does seem to match up with the little glimpse we saw of Barry behind the door. The lack of visible teeth is distinctly missing.

But it's curious how Lee's drastically changing up his iteration of Joker, which has its own unique look from everyone else as well.
Love Bermejo, but not on board with his new Joker design. It looks more like Randall Flagg with the whole "drifter/biker" get-up.

Serkis wasn’t bad at all, but I think he was the worst casting choice in the cast. He just doesn’t fit the role the way past actors have. I think Pertwee, Gough and Caine are all perfect, but Serkis left me a bit cold.

I think they should have cast him as a villain instead. Clayface.

He's just a different Alfred. He's the failed father figure so it's a pretty cold relationship. This movie seemed about them reconciling with each other. The shot that sums it up is that first scene between them when Alfred looks down and closes his eyes. You really get the sense he feels he failed him and the tragedy of it.

Seventeen minutes until Rataalada lets us down again. :funny:

I'd have sacrificed the corrupt Thomas Wayne subplot that didn't go anywhere for more development between Bruce and Alfred fulfills what you say it was getting at.

I think they could’ve kept it in. Definitely answers exactly who it is and let’s the audience know this is a slightly different dynamic than we’ve seen before.

Can easily see why they deleted it and I'm glad they did. The scene didn't do much for me, personally.
