The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

If you look closely, you can see the Mayors son in his red halloween costume that VA mentioned.

I don’t think that’s gonna be Robin in the future, but I'm trying to figure out a way for them to reinvent Dick Grayson this way. Just for fun. He's likely just a nice setup to show Bruce's compassion and how it could affect him in how he deals with a Grayson in the future. But let's say hypothetically it's Reeves' Robin..

You'd have to make him Richard Mitchell. His mother could be Mary Mitchell (Grayson as her maiden name?).

We do know that Batman saves this kid's life in the flood, but does he save his mother? Does he lose both his parents over the course of a week? With Riddler being responsible for both..

I've been watching the new Dexter and if you have as well, you'll know what I'm getting at with Harrison. That's the age I think Robin should be (15-16). He has a snarky sense of humour but he also has a chip on his shoulder. He relies on himself. That's what I'd do here, a couple of movies later. Maybe as he grows up, he drops the Mitchell name because although he misses his father (like Bruce) he actually turns his back on his father's corrupt legacy and embraces his mother's name Grayson instead. Mary and Martha would be guilty by association but technically they married into a corrupt political lifestyle and didn't know the details. So they'd be tied in that way.

I know most of us would rather see Dick as a kid who isn't as well off as Bruce. But Reeves is all about reinventing everything so i can see him making Dick kinda numb and not impressed in the slightest with what Bruce/Alfred have to offer. If anything, he had it better because his parents took care of what they had. Then, unless Dick has been living a more modest lifestyle, Bruce can teach him to value the real **** in life instead of material. But if he lost his mother, where he would be living? Is Gotham Orphanage rebuilt?

Either way, just a thought!

I just went through this whole thread to get up to date with as many spoilers as I can, and I have to say it was a chore.

10% or less of this thread is filled with spoilers, a good majority of the people in this thread don't want the good juicy spoilers here (yep in a spoiler thread) which deters those types of spoilers from being posted and the big juicy spoilers that actually reveal some aspect of the plot gets shared through the dm/pm making this thread irrelevant.

The little spoilers are discussed, but how many times can the same little spoilers be discussed which brings me to the other issue, 60% of this thread is just a Joker thread and the other 30% is filled with speculation on the sequel/trilogy, mundane/off topic discussion.

I hope when a/(the) sequel gets greenlit, a non-discussion spoiler/leak thread gets created so that people can find the good stuff without all the extra bits, preface everything as a rumor and every post that is false gets updated as debunked.

Thanks to everyone who contributed spoilers to the thread and I apologize if I sound like an a-hole.

Man, I haven't posted here in ages. I believe this became my first stop every day as I was heavily into the Dark Knight viral campaign. I guess they've started a mini campaign so far so I'm really looking forward to that as well. I poured through this thread the last few days as well and I guess the big take away is that the Joker will be in it. Love the casting if that's true.
My only fear is I hope it's not some Hush thing where the 'real' riddler turns out to be the joker behind everything.

You don’t have to worry about that.

Ha, that's all I ask for then. I haven't been this excited for a Batman movie in ages. Looking forward to seeing what there plans are for viral actitivites. The Riddler page find was pretty cool.

Knowing everything from this thread and VA on Reddit/ twitter. Its going to be pretty funny to see the reactions to some folks who thought this was just going to be another comic book movie with no substance in story telling or character driven. Or that’s it’s just a Nolan’s Batman clone.

I'm not afraid to say it. And I know it's a taste thing but...everything I'm seeing and hearing is next level. As a big Burton Batman fan and a big Nolan Batman fan, I honestly don't think it's THAT hard to top any of those movies. Unlike a lot of other ppl, I don't think the bar is raised too high.

All this new stuff with Penguin, Catwoman, Falcone, Riddler, Batman, Gotham City...it's all light years ahead of previous versions of Penguin, Riddler, etc. It's not even out yet and I'm 100 percent sure it's gonna be the top of the mountain for me. Maybe it's because I know a ton more than just seeing the trailers, I don't know...but all of my characterization worries are gone.

It's gonna take the spot with ease. And I'm ready for the "ahh new shiny toy syndrome! Put down the past to lift up the present!" yeaaah well that's a bunch of malarkey! Because those ppl were praising TDK in 2008 as the best Batman movie and still say it's the greatest of all time. When folks start saying the same about The Batman, you're gonna hear that shiny toy criticism. But if you think a new Batman movie lines up more with what you want to see? Then that's your right to put it on a pedestal.

Could The Batman disappoint? No. I know too many details. It is literally impossible at this point. Maybe back in the summer I'd say sure it's possible, but not anymore. If you're doing a horror/detective noir for Bats and it's AT THE VERY LEAST adequately made, then it's already the greatest Batman movie of all time. That's my two cents.

I very much agree. I'm not big on the Nolan stuff besides Batman Begins and Returns is easily the best of the original movies. And despite me really liking both of those films, they have their issues and both are not the best thing that can be achieved with the character. Matt Reeves is making The Batman film I've always wanted to see. So I don't have to have seen the film to know that this will be my favourite. I think it has a good chance at being the best. Reeves is nailing all aspects of the Batman world. I mean, we're getting a noir driven Batman movie. It's really exciting.

All I know is my hype for this movie is sky high, and I think it's going to be absolutely incredible. I haven't been this excited for a comic book film in so damn long, and I truly believe we are gonna have an incredible movie in our hands in just a few short months. The wait is almost over, and I'm ready to bask in all the glory that Reeves will be presenting us with. A whole new era for Batman and one that I think is going to surprise a lot of people.

Hello, as lurker, thanks a lot for information everyone shared here regarding leaks. So far i like what i read and hope the execution will be really good.

I read from reddit that some german site said that Selina is Bruce's childhood friend. Interesting. Anyone know if its true?

Look beyond the surface

Beyond the surface I see propably really good movie. But my cinical side is telling me... Seven wannabe with BvS fight scenes and even more grounded reality like in Nolan's movies. Nothing new.

PS. Saying that Batman Beings (one of the best origin movies) and TDK (cult classic) is not that hard to top... It's like people who said now that No Way Home is the best spider-man movie ever made.

TDK made a billion dollars when it came out. In what why is that a “cult classic”?

Even your surface level observations are wrong

Hello everyone. First of all, thank you for all the leaks that you shared on this thread. But there is something I really, really want to know and I couldn't find the answer anywhere. What is riddler's backstory? Could anyone tell me please? Maybe in PM? I don't even know if someone actually knows that but I have to try. I'm a big fan of the riddler and I can't wait March to learn more about the character. Especially since I leave in France and the government wants to shut down the cinema so maybe I will not be able to see this movie before a long time...

Cult classics are movies that have "cult" following. It's not like only "bad" movies that are redisovered by new fans can be called "cult classics".

It's Batman, my guy. It's like saying Star Wars is a "cult" movie. The movie won an Oscar. It's not exactly a hidden gem.
