At this point, I think there's no chance this is the case. Because we haven't seen anything regarding Merkel, not so much as a photo. Which would mean if he was Merkel, he was either cut from the movie, or has a very small role in it. Either scenario doesn't seem too likely.

Yeah, we would heard at least something if he was cut or only has a super small role...so to me, the fact that its so completely secretive about his role, really makes the possibility of him being The Joker...very high.
