The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

I do wonder why they chose green. I guess maybe a clear fluid could've been tough to see.
It could have been colorless and the scene is communicated the same exact way without confusion.

It seems deliberate enough to just be a nod to that storyline without having to commit to it.

It's those kinds of things in this movie that I like how they don't overexplain stuff. We see the progression of Bruce building his Batmobile even though we don't actually see him doing it or talking about it until they revealed it in action.

It kinda does a great job differentiating it from Nolan's trilogy.

It's probably been mentioned already knowing this place but I haven't been a part of the conversation. At the beginning of the film when we are watching little red ninja dude and his family before they get murdered, the binoculars seem to be the same that Batman uses later... Was that Batman spying or the Riddler with the same equipment?

That was Riddler spying on them because of the heavy breathing and Ave Maria playing in the background

On the topic of sequel villains, I would definitely be into Mr. Freeze as an option. I know this casting is probably a pipe dream that will never come to fruition, but Daniel Day Lewis would be my top pick for the role. With Matt Reeves’ sensibilities as a director and writer, I think that could be a match made in heaven. And to see Pattinson and DDL on screen in character together…man I can’t even describe how good that would make me feel.

Joker being reserved as the big baddie for the 3rd film or the Arkham asylum show is the way to go. I think some people are possibly expecting Joker in the next film after that scene, but I doubt he shows up in the next one. I think the show will be a place where they establish him before becomes the main villain at the end of the trilogy.

The third film may come out six to seven years from now, I don't see them not using Joker for that long. I think he's definitely going to be in the next movie one way or another

Yeah, Cranston gets fan cast as a bunch of CBM characters, but the only one I'd like to see him as would be... Perry White.

I was thinking of him for Freeze specifically based on Reeve's comments on what a tragic story it is. If that guy can do one thing, it's bring a very human element to a tragic situation. But yeah, I know his name gets trotted out a lot. TBH, a lot of people probably would've been dubious about fan casting Pattinson 5 years ago too, so who knows? :P

Idk, everytime I've seen an adrenaline shot in a movie or TV show it tends to be that off-set greenish colour. It could be a reference to Venom, sure, but I do think the intention is for it to be adrenaline.

After sleeping on it after my first viewing I think i like it more! I really need to see it again. Pick up the things I missed. It all worked for me. I found nothing slow about it. And i loved how Reeves wasn't scared to have Batman front and centre, in the suit for nearly all the entire movie. He really trumped Nolan in that respect. And in the detective angle. So in some ways , this is superior to the Nolan films. I liked how he trusted the character of Batman to hold the movie together. And it works! I always felt that Bale and Nolan were a bit unsure on how to portray Batman in his suit. Bale changing his voice levels for different scenes in the suit didn't help! Patterson nailed the voice and the performance in the suit! And didn't move away from it. The 3rd act worked fine for me. In fact it was great , showing Batman finding his purpose worked really well. Its too early for me to rank it. And I need to watch it a couple of more times to take it all in. Anyhow, really happy and satisfied with the movie,

So... Is that green juice Batman injected into him proto-Venom or just adrenaline?
Even my brother though it was proto-venom, but I still stand by the fact that i think it was just adrenaline type stuff.

That is true. We'll probabaly see him in the Arkham show so I don't think we'll be waiting too long.

Ahhh I hadn’t thought about it but I bet it was proto-venom, or Miraclo.

Very cool. I loved Nolan’s take on Bane but it was a missed opportunity not to introduce venom into the story. It would be great to see it used here. If I recall correctly, Batman gets slightly addicted to it in the comics before Bane even shows up. It would be interesting to see Batman going that route in the next film since we know that this version tends to push himself to the limits. And it also would fit with the Kurt Cobain influence, since Cobain struggled with addiction throughout his life.

I assumed it was probably a proto venom or a nod to it at least. Not a story thread or anything that needs to be elaborated on or followed up. Probably just adrenaline though.

Another very cool detail noticed - Riddler's theme unfolds like a riddle:

(credits to reddit user "Matarreyea" for the music note study)

"Riddler's musical motiff through the movie... was an extremely disfigured Ave Maria all along. It's literally the bastardised first 4 notes of it (a-ve-ma-ri). It's fairly unrecognisable through the entirety of the movie, and it's only after he sings it at Batman in prison, and then the motiff plays again during the "real change" reveal that it falls into place.

Mind kind of blown, specially since both the Riddler theme and the Ave Maria have been in the promotional materials for some time as separate entities."

The story was called Batman Venom, and it takes place in the " Year two" period, so it's early days.
I'd also like them to elaborate that addiction as he needs to go up against more and more "freaks" and more and more extreme crimes.
Even if they just say it's adrenaline, the idea that it becomes a crutch that he needs to get past would be another interesting growth of his Batman.

Miraclo is way too in the weeds even for comic book fans. The easy answer for a movie audience is that it was Venom. The green color is to draw our attention to it.
