The Batman Spoiler Discussion Thread

I thought when Carmine got his trademark scar that'd he'd stay and this was only the beginning/he'd be in more movies.

Nope. No sequel for Carmine.

Thinking about sequels I think Matt Reeves likes to play around with prosthetic makeup.

I'm thinking Mr Freeze wouldn't present a challenge for the make up department if he's just a grounded regular guy. So possible scarred/disfigured villains could be two-face

However we've already done two-face with part practical/part CGI and it looked great.

Damn... looks like Barton wasn't involved with the Arkham stuff. It seems like he picked off where Terence Winter left and developed the originally pitched GCPD Year One story, but now that project has been shelved. Bummer. I was really looking forward to it. It also largely looks like it was WB's decision to cut that series...

Damn, I was way more interested in that than an Arkham show tbh. But who am I kidding, I’m interested in anything Reeves serves up lol.

I think an Arkham show will be equally amazing. I'm just sad we couldn't get both. I know this GCPD Year One story would have **** on all the Gotham comparisons. Think about all the actors we could have potentially seen in that show, Jeffrey, Rob and Turturro all making appearances. It would have been a huge hit on HBO Max for sure. But clearly Warner Bros. thought differently.

However, I am glad that with the death of this show, it births the development of a horror based Arkham Asylum series featuring Joker. I haven't heard a Batman project as interesting as that ever in my life. That has potential to be something really special.

Also with the Arkham show it can showcase more villains so less people complain about not the right villains being showcased.

i'm listening to the sountrack now after having seen the movie.

this track:

did this track play during the end credits?
i forget.

It definitely did, or at least a portion of it.

I thought the guy at the funeral was just a red herring to build tension. Same with the guy who was taken away by the cops. When the guy says, "Don't I know you?" I think he just recognizes Bruce Wayne.

i liked the recurring gag of bruce knocking on the iceberg lounge's door in 3 of his different personas and each time he does something different. :funny:

i actually felt sorry for those twin bouncers hahahaah
They are an awesome addition to the Batman universe. I want them associated with the Iceberg Lounge doors across all media. :D

When Bruce went to the Iceberg lounge looking disheveled I was reminded of Batman Begins

You're, uh, you're Bruce Wayne, the Prince of Gotham; you'd have to go a thousand miles to meet someone who didn't know your name. So, don't-don't come down here with your anger, trying to prove something to yourself. This is a world you'll never understand.

Going back and forth to the Iceberg lounge through the front door showed that Batman has alot to learn too. A more experienced Batman would have snuck in.

It was also funny how Batman walked in to places like a normal person. He walked into the crime scenes like a cop and left the same way he came out

No disappearing/Ninja training here

Someone tweeted it's wild that our new Batman is someone who knocks on the front door, wants to see the owner, and says, "do you know who I am?" when they're refused.

Pure Karen energy. :funny:

he's too lazy to use stealth.

employs the direct approach whenever he can. :funny:

That's what I thought when I saw it. Nothing to stop him being Joe Chill if they wanted that but also nothing to really confirm it as him either. Best to choose whatever interpretation works best for the viewer IMO.

I think that's actually not likely to be honest. We know most likely the Arkham show will pick up where the film ended, so how many villains can they really showcase when Batman has only been around for two years. We know Joker and Riddler are the biggest ones he's somewhat faced in his Batman career so far, so I can't imagine them just showing a bunch of villains in Arkham.

I think the Arkham show can introduce Harley Quinn and Jeremiah Arkham/or Hugo Strange as villains. Harley first as a doctor/therapist who gets seduced by Joker and turned into Harley Quinn, and Jeremiah Arkham/or Hugo Strange as perhaps the corrupt overseer of Arkham Asylum. Joker and Riddler would also most likely be in the show. But outside of that, I don't see what other characters could be introduced...

What would the central story of that show even be?

If they introduced Jeremiah Arkham wouldn't that mean that he and Bruce are related?

Agreed. Initially I thought it was the riddler goon at the end but it doesn't look like him tbh. Maybe it was meant to be unanswered? I'm not sure haha.

You know what, I kinda liked that. You’re right that it shows his inexperience, but I also think it’s a great indicator of his levels of self confidence and bravado. It’s the actions of a young man, who thinks he can walk in to anywhere, even dressed as a bat.

Contrast with the shifty, nervous way he does the same thing as Bruce Wayne.

Excellent character development ‘show don’t tell’ there, I thought.

Giant shame that something so compelling sounding (especially since it clearly would have involved Pattinson and Wright) got shelved seemingly because it didn’t have enough Batman Franchise stuff in it. If Arkham is a Joker series of any kind that is extra lame.

Obviously, Arkham could be great though. It just feels inherently more fan servicey. But maybe it’s central premise will be super compelling.
