The Dark Knight The Batmobile Thread, Only Better.

you realise the canopy sliding forward was invented for the 89 batmobile, right? i think the way the tumbler open up is much cooler

Y'know, I had forgotten that! You're right. I believe it's because they had not built a normal door on it. But yeah, the way the tumbler opens is awesome. I do like how it's two pieces.

You mean the ones that would get basically destroyed just by going over a speedbump?

No, I mean the man who would basically get destroyed because he's wearing a rubber suit that constricts neck movement and immobility to raise an arm. What are you getting at, son?

I'm talking about a car that would get it's undercarriage torn out the first time it hit a pothole.

No idea what you're talking about. Son.

Didn't expect you to, either.

Awww, did I hurt your feelings?

I can't help that you can't accept that people have different likes and tastes, and that you get all huffy when somebody expresses an opinion that's different from yours.

You're not getting the big picture. Do you realize what I'm even talking about right now?

I'm glad the tumbler is getting blown up. Don't get me wrong, I like it and I think it looks cool. But to me, it's not "Batman," well it may scream "Nolan's Batman" but it's not what I want. In Batman Begins, and apparently in The Dark Knight as well, there is no Batmobile, just the tumbler. Anyone who works at Wayne Enterprises could steal one with help and they would only have a tumbler, not a batmobile. To me, the "Batmobile" was always something that spoke Batman to me, it was made specifically for him and has his trademark on it. Not just a big tank like automobile designed for the military, but one designed for Batman!

I prefer it looking sleek, tons of gadgets, and a top that pulls forward. My two favorites are from '89 and TAS. So here's hoping in part 3, Batman gets his own car, his batmobile designed just for him.

You're not getting the big picture. Do you realize what I'm even talking about right now?

Yeah. You prefering the cars from 89 and TAS and me saying that as soon as they went over a pothole their undercarriages would be ripped out.

oh get over it, its a movie. What next? Batman's auto insurance? Are you forgetting that the Batmobile is supposed to be the most technologically advanced automobile? I'm sure it'll handle potholes and speed bumps.

I want to see a big mea chunky, yet sporty batmobile concept car type thing. Like TAS mixed with a Bugatti Veyron...

I could go for the bottom silver one, if it was redesigned with a Bat motif.

Anyone know how much the silver car cost? I need to take out a loan and get me one of those.

-sigh- Well looks like I'm gonna have to build my own sports car.

hmm...cant really tell from this angle...

OK. The front wheel would have to come from the front driver's side of the Tumbler. Then where does the cannon come from? There isn't a cannon located there on the Tumbler. And the rear wheel on the Batpod can't come from the front passenger's side because that would mean the bike's swing arm would have to magically appear.

It doesn't eject from the Tumbler.

It's the cannon I have the problem with.

I'm beginning to lose faith in my theory.

I'm on record for the following (because it just makes sense, and, visually, it would be cool as could be):

1. I think this Pod comes from the car
2. I think it's the two front wheels
3. I think it's initiated when he's lying forward in that "weapons firing" mode
4. Somehow it all detaches, the front wheels swing around and line up, front to back, with each other.

A sidewinder type of motion:

And I'm not getting too hung-up on the engineering and mechanics of it all because, last I checked, it was a movie. And even the "realistic, grounded" Batman Begins had some pretty far-out things taking place that didn't require geeky explanations or "real-world proof" to work on the screen (and for us to buy into and enjoy).

It's called "special effects" and "editing". Viewing the movie, we'll all swear the front part of the Tumbler somehow became a motorcycle, even though, in real life, that would be pretty tough to pull off. But it's why they're called movies, and it's why I enjoy them.

:)

That's a Badass diagram

For the next version of the Batmobile, I'd personally like to to see something that takes the basic ideas of the Tumbler (durability, raw speed and power, weapons) and scale them down. I'd now like to use what is kind of a crappy analogy (it's the only one I can think of right now :p), it'd be like going from the original bulky PlayStation 2 to the slimmed down version of the PlayStation 2.

Something that's about the size of a regular sedan that still has the tank like durability, but with a sleeker, more aerodynamic design. That's just my 2 cents.:yay:

I don't want to see anything like TAS batmobile in a movie... it was good for '89, but realistically - what kind of corners can that thing take at high speed? I mean, it'd have to shoot out that grapple from the side and swing around for every single corner during high speed chases. *thumbs down*
The FIRST live-action batmobile that looked believable as a vehicle that could handle high speed and rough situations was the Tumbler. If another batmobile emerges (that isn't a tumbler) the only other Batman reference I'd like to see is the batmobile from the "The Batman" series (I'm not a big fan of that show... but that car is more believable to me as a vehicle that can handle crimefighting, as opposed to TAS Batmobile that has a 20ft. long hood and sits incredibly low to the ground)

BTW, it seems as if this movie is going to have some awesome vehicle scenes (Tumbler, Slaughter truck, Lambo, Pod)... Damn it I can't wait!

As long as it doesn't loook like the Thundertank, I'll be fine with the next model.

I wouldnt mind another tumbler but slightly upgraded
