The Dark Knight The Batmobile Thread, Only Better.

I've always thought the perfect Batmobile would have been one in the mold of the tumbler...but sleek and shiny with small fins(like BTAS/B'89) as opposed to looking edgy & militaristic.

So basically nothing like the Tumbler.

I just like the Tumbler. Always like the military style and not sleek. Just like TDK:R

Thats my fav style and it seems to be Nolan's as well.

no lol, I like the size of the tumbler, the fact that it can destroy anything in it's path, and those missiles that shoot out the front.

Apply some fins on to the tumbler, less edgy, and viola! Most perfect thing ever.

I do believe the Bat Pod comes out of the tumbler.

Number one it's called Bat Pod. If it was a motorcycle, why not just call it that for christ's sake? Pod gives the subliminal mindset that it's an escape pod.

I don't agree with the " Bruce Wayne can build anything he wants so that's why it's not part of the Tumbler" idea.

Number# 1

Bruce Wayne CAN build anything he wants. So why not build another tumbler? What the hell does he need a motorcycle for? The tumbler ( as we've seen in intimate detail) can go through anything with ease. Why would you as Batman take a risk driving on an exposed motorcycle rather than a tank with 747 turbo boost? Especially while wearing such a long cape that would get caught in the back tire and tear your head off in a single solitary thought?

Number #2

If Wayne can have pieces of the tumbler brought back and fixed to make the motorcycle, why the hell can't he just buy another tumbler? There is more than one. Furthermore, couldn't he just build another tumbler?

The Escape pod comes out of the tumbler. I'll put a fair (fare) wager on it. The handle bars look exactly like the bars used in Batman begins when Bats has to fold himself out to discharge weapons. I'm sure he does the same when he discharges himself from getting his ass kicked all over hell and creation by the Joker. The tumbler goes boom, out comes the bike to Joker's dislike...

Couldn't they have come up with a better name than Bat Pod? Sounds more like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" than a vehicle to me. Oh well.

Its just a vamped upp motorcycle imo Nolan was just lazy not by not creating a new completely original take on the batmobile. B89 BATMOBILE still easily rules supreme as one of the best most memorable cars ever in cinema and TV.

I like how he says Number #1 and Number #2 - repetitive, ain't it?

:cwink: Just messing with ya

The Bat-pod is awesome. I'm not sure if it does or not but I hope it shoots missiles or something.

And I don't think it comes out of the tumbler.

i bet it can do pretty much anything, it can probably go underwater too

if u wanna talk about the dumbest looking batmobile watch batman & robin & wonder why no crook was smart enough to shoot george clooney with his head sticking out of the batmobile. good god

Why not call it Batcycle?

I am skeptical if batman's bike is going to actually be called the "Batpod" by name in the movie. I know that is what it is called by the writers and such- but I have trouble seeing Bruce or Lucius calling it a Batpod.

case in point- the Tumbler was never actually called the Batmobile by anyone in the movie- it was always the Tumbler.

Well, Nolan did create the Tumbler in Begins. Also, I don't see Nolan implemented the Bat-Pod as "lazy". I think there will be specific reasons as to why Batman needs a motorcycle in the film. There are certain advantages and disadvantages that come with every type of vehicle.

I dont think so either- i think Bruce asks Lucius to make it for him and he uses parts from the Tumbler.

i proposed "Scrambler" a while back (just to keep it in the same "-mbler" family as the Tumbler) but not many people on here liked it..too many thoughts about eggs apparently..

Wow that thing sucked! It was a single seater with no top. It had bat-tread, took the neon engine way too far, and had 6 jet nozzles instead of one big one. wtf!

Come to think of it, i have a friend whose viewing of BB was spoiled since he couldnt stomach how Bruce grabbed Ducard on the cliff and his arm wasnt dislocated or ripped off. He was whining for the next 15 minutes!

I know that in TDK, like some of you, he is gonna be in agony whether the cape gets caught by the pod's rear wheel!
I am not going to see TDK with him!!!

Rumor has it that the cape is supposed to retract or something- its a new feature of the Batsuit.

Do you sit on a pirates shoulder for a living? "Polly want a cracker, Polly want a cracker, Polly want a cracker.............." Can you ever come up with something better then your "Burton is god" comments? Christ, your worse then my Mom's Revolver album!:whatever:

He did a new completely (at least for the movies) original take on the batmobile. What do you want? A new batmobile for every movie? Go and watch Schumacher.

<Sarcasm alert>
Yeah i heard "batmobile" in all the advertising in the build up to BB and people still fondly call it the batmobile.:whatever:
<End sarcasm alert>

Dont be an ass man if you can help it the discussion is about the tumbler many people have mentioned BTAS and B89 mobiles in this thread, and you jump down my throat? :whatever: why cant some people just grow up and stop the direct insults when they dont agree with something?.

idiot.

WAY TO MISS THE POINT THERE...... :lips:
Then why don't you elaborate? What in the world does his car aesthetics have to do with his actual crimefighting? It takes him from point A to B, and maybe do a few nifty little things. That's it.

wouldnt fins make it silly?
Have you taken a close look at Batman and his world? At all?

PS: Would you people stop whining about batman's cape being caught by the pod's rear wheel? Maybe its not long enough for it to happen, but still, its a movie! Its like whining "why does batman have a cape? Its gonna go over his head and blind him when he is fighting someone. Thats stoopeed!"
Can you not apply this very same logic to people who complain about fins on the car, and having a sleek batmobile design? That's a bit of a double standard.

First of all: I said that "sportscars aint good for fighting crime". Not that they arent good in fighting crime, but FOR fighting crime.
So you replied: "Last I checked, the batmobile was a car, not a crime-fighter."

So my response is: Reading comprehension. Look it up.
It leads to the same implied statement, that the Batmobile is used to fight crime. Hence my (semi-joke) statement that it isn't really used for that, but for traveling. He's in an urban city, most of the stuff the Tumbler can do probably wouldn't even help in real-world conditions considering the setting.

Secondly, the shape/type of the car is very important. Batman could have a Mini Cooper, a sleek supercar or a tank.
:cwink:In the first case he could be stealthy but he wouldnt be able to do anything else.
:cwink:In the second case he could go fast, maybe run through walls or crash into enemy cars (if its armoured enough) and fire missiles. But as soon as a big obstacle is in the way, or gets under the car, the car will be stranded. Just imagine taking a ferrari on a mountain. It doesnt have the ground clearance.
:oldrazz:In the third case, that of the tumbler, you have a huge vehicle, that has a lot of ground clearance, can fire missiles, jump from rooftop to rooftop (thats why it has those big wheels and that shape at the front) and even run fast.

So you see, the vehicle you choose is important.
And as anyone can see, all three have their pros and cons to assist Bruce, but none have all the "benefits". My point was that it doesn't matter which vehicle he chooses, because they all serve their purpose.

I didnt say this to you. You didnt mention this in your posts. It was meant for the people discussing it.
I don't care if you said it to me. The question still stands in the general discussion. If you're using double standards, then it should be brought up no matter who it was addressed to.
