The Batmobile Thread

I really like the tumbler, it's my favorite batmobile seen on screen, so in that sense I'm glad to see it returning. But I would have liked to see a reworked vehicle, just for curiosity's sake and a change of visuals. I am very glad that the bat-pod is there though, I loved that machine.

Well, it was just a prototype vehicle, so there is no need to order several vehicles if they haven't got passed the prototype stage yet. That's why Bruce wanted to use the equipment that Fox showed him, because none of it was mass produced.

There could have been two vehicles, but there could have also just been one, and they are going to build another with the blueprints they got back from Coleman Reese.
If that were true (and you could be right about them building a new one with the blueprints), why would Fox say in BB that they couldn't get the bridge to work? This implies that they made two in order to test that theory out.

I don't mind the Tumbler returning, but I was hoping for a new Batmobile. Something more comic book-y. Still, this makes more sense since two were built for the army.

I was more surprised to see the Batpod than the tumbler as it's function last time was as a sort of escape pod from a destroyed Tumbler which created a cool visual, I can't see Nolan doing the same thing again, so it will be interesting to see how it's incorporated.

i get the feeling Batman will be using it as a proper vehicle, rather than an escape-vehicle

I would love if they upgraded batman's tech, the suit all of it, the vehicles.
:(

From the fact we have photos of the camouflage Tumbler in Pittsburgh from some chicks Facebook, then the black Batmobile one plus Batpod from SHH, I imagine he'll still be using the Batpod as his primary means of transport in the beginning of the film, while the camo-mobile -- and 2nd Tumbler Fox insinuated existed in Begins -- is being blackened-up for him by Lucius, at which point it takes over as his primary means.

The existence of a second Tumbler doesn't mean that the bat-pod will suddenly be thrown away. He could use it stand-alone when he feels the need. Just like whenever he uses a bat-cycle in comics or animation over the batmobile. It's situation dependant which he uses.

Thats my thinking as well...

Yay the tumbler. But hey we can still have fun imagining what a sleeker and clearly battier tumbler would look like right?

I'd love to see a sort of tag-team car action scene involving both Batman on the Batpod and a remote-controlled Tumbler like in the beginning of TDK. Imagine the possibilities with two Bat-vehicles on screen at once and their combined gadgetry coupled with Batman's ingenuity. It would be a good way to top TDK.

That would be awesome

He never said they had two, and to me, it sounds like he's talking hypothetically. He said, "we couldn't get the damn bridge to work, but this baby still works fine".

Both Tumblers would be identical to each other, as both would would bring over tow cables, and if you're working with a prototype, normally, you only make one, and they could've still seen if the bridge worked, which it didn't. Plus, we only saw one in BB. If they had two that weren't in working order, I would imagine that they would be next to each other, much like the Kevlar suits.

But who knows, I could be wrong. :cwink:

It stands to reason if there was 2 Tumblers, Bruce would have taken both...why leave one at WE and drive around in one?

I would think it's easier to hide the existence of BOTH vehicles, than there suddenly being only one....

I'm all for consistency, so like I said previously, I'm happy we're seeing the Pod & Tumbler again.

However, I always thought Fox would maybe want to develop a new set of vehicles to avoid another person connecting dots. His explanation to Mr. Reese was hilarious, and sensible, for that situation, but somewhere, somebody has to have some knowledge of the Tumbler prior to Batman, and thus, would know where it came from. Someone like a certain disgruntled ex-CEO....

Maybe......

...the camo Tumbler in BB wasn't the one he took, but he had one made for him in black and modified to include an escape vehicle (Batpod). Maybe that's the original one, still in storage...the camo one.

I thought he just took the camo one, and painted it black.

Yeah, I always felt in BB that perhaps some military guys who were involved with the project might see some Batman car chase on the news and recognize it. But maybe the new copter footage in BB was the only time it was caught on camera with it obscured by darkness, and the Gotham patrol cars didn't have cameras in them. But still, someone could have gotten word in military circles...and remembered that Wayne Enterprises...which also happens to be in Gotham...was working on such a thing.

Probably not the military's problem, but one could wonder if there's any sort of confidentiality issues with even canceled projects getting out into the open.

It's great the tumbler's back. Nolan's last Batflick... it'd be rude not to.
