The Batmobile Thread

i get the feeling Batman will be using it as a proper vehicle, rather than an escape-vehicle

I guess for a specific purpose as it doesn't offer a great deal of protection on it's own.

I'm certain there will be another vehicle of some sort, we'll see.......

By all accounts it's going to be an attack chopper.

Nice to see you on the boards MM, hope the family are well. :)

Thanks Hunter, it's been a while....hope things are going well for you too.

As if he was any safer on the batpod against Joker and his goons with automatic weapons.

The car is definitely streamlined, don't get how people aren't seeing this. It looks alot narrower in the front (The wheels are closer together) and smaller then the first tumbler...

That makes a lot of sense. Can't imagine Batman would be safe on the Batpod against Bane.

...because Bane can run faster than a motorcycle:huh:

Batman on the batpod and Bane after him, I think I know who's going to make it to the batcave faster.

Eh. You're right, that was a stupid comment of me to make  I guess it's more symbolically I think how Batman sacrificed armour for speed with the last vehicle, Bane is all about strengh, power and all that it makes sense for him to return to a tank in a film about Bane to me *shrugs*

I hope the helicopter he gets is a Comanchee.

That pretty much looks exactly like a Tumbler-copter would look like.

I always prefer Batman driving a giant black phallus. The tumbler is alright because it's the closest we're going to get of the Bat-tank on film from TDKR.

...not one time have I ever thought the Burton Batmobile looked like a giant penis.

You can have your Tumbler tank. I'll take a car that looks like a Batmobile.

So happy they're bringing back the Tumbler! I like it way better then the burton Batmobile. The tumbler pretty much served Batman extremely well in both BB and TDK. I dont see why he should change anything, other than making improvements to it from what hes learned. Perhaps make the hull stronger since he knows what happened to it after it was hit by a RPG.

Hah. My wife and I were watching Batman on AMC a couple of weeks back (she hadn't seen it for a long time) ... and she observed that it looked rather phallic. She sang the "ambiguously gay duo" theme song (from SNL), referring to their very penis-shaped car.

I actually prefer the tumbler. It just makes more sense to me that Batman would drive an urban assault vehicle instead of a fiberglass bat-shaped sports car or drag racer. I'd think power and/or tactical capability would be more useful for crime-fighting than style or sheer speed.

The Burton Batmobile could do anything the Tumbler can in a movie setting. The Burton Batmobile drove straight through two lanes of traffic hitting and flipping cars...and it came out without a scratch. That's the magic of movies! :cwink:

Maybe she is working out sexual frustration, perhaps you do not please her as often as she would like so she is suffering an instance of seeing mirages. Or perhaps she has a favorite sex toy that looks like a batmobile, I don't know, I'm not Freud.:o

It just depends on the world and the context. In Burton's stylistic Gotham, his batmobile was clearly capable of destruction and certainly could be classified as an assault vehicle. You just said you saw the movie recently so surely you remember the scenes where the batmobile drops numerous bombs into the chemical factory and blasts the wall down with machine guns. And in Returns, it plows through dozens of cars so clearly it was powerful and tactical.

Nolan's Gotham is not filmed on sound stages but on real locations so it's not very stylistic but real worldly. So the low sleek batmobile wouldn't work as well as previous batmobiles so the tumbler the best way to go. But saying only one specific way works is moot because it's all dependent on context of what world Batman is in. In that regard, the tumbler is the perfect fit for Bale's Batman.

I see people mention this alswere as well, and frankly I do not get it. Can you please offer pics and point out the differences?

As long as it was on perfectly flat pavement. Curbs, speed bumps, potholes, dividers...different story. That would require the magic of ambition. :D :oldrazz:

In all seriousness...both Batmobiles fit their respective movies well, stylistically. I think Nolan just got more impact out of the Batmobile in his stories...as well as everything else. :O

1. You probably don't have a wife. (My wife could give a damn about anything Batman related, she would never comment on the good or the bad)

2. You're just saying this because you prefer the Tumbler to the '89 Batmobile.

The '89 Batmobile's turbine engine may look phallic but atleast it doesn't look like a massive hunk of badonkadonk tumors with a ridiculous maw insect face. Believe it or not, many images we hold dear have phallic origins. Unless you're looking for it or have male genitalia on the brain, the '89 Batmobile looks fine, sleek and intimidating.

So now we're critiquing eachother's wives...in a Batmobile thread. Epic. :oldrazz:
