Instead of only a choice between white eyes or having black (or blue) makeup around his eyes, why can't part of the cowl be done by CG/ MoCap markers?
That way they can film it with Pattinson using eyeholes as big as the other batsuits so that he can see clearly. However, in place of the raccoon eye makeup, he could have markers there. Then that bit could be filled in during post production so that it looks like his eye holes are smaller and Batman won't have to wear dark eye makeup.
If he had a blue cowl then, they could easily fill that bit in with CG. He can also occasionally have lenses that drop down.
Marvel CG a lot of the other costumes for their movies. They can easily get a cowl that has the perfect proportions and look with the best eyeholes.
