White eyes seemed to work for Marvel.
Yeah , but their characters always lose their masks at some point and I find that extremely annoying. They lose their masks because the actors need to emote at some point or another

They should do it like Black Panther. The lenses are retractable. But I'd prefer the default look to be white. There would be a built-in HUD display in the lenses ala Telltale

This is how he would know If a criminal is afraid.

There's your practical explanation for the lenses

That's not Batman at all. He scopes out the fear in his opponent by how much sweat or piss they are discharging at any point. Stats (really, stats?) takes the fun out of it.

Plus, even Black Panther had to slide down his lenses to emote.

I don't want them, not because of the lazy strawman that I cannot "imagine" them. I don't want them so I can see the actor's eyes.

Sure, Spider-man has white lenses. He also spends a long time conveniently losing his mask. Gee, I wonder why.

I am fine with a few shots of Batman sliding down lenses to investigate. But that's it.

This.

Ehhh, I see it more so as bringing Batman into 2019-2021 in a contemporary update of the character. That's basically what Telltale did with their Batman. Now if this Batman movie is set in the 90s, yes, that's a bit much. But considering the tech-orientated time that we live in today, it makes sense that the white lenses would be based in technology. This gives him a practical reason to have them.

Panther's lenses retracted from time to time much like Batman would. But the retracted lenses was not the default look

This is a cool idea. I don't know if I'd rely on the visual the entire film a la the Iron Man films, but it'd be cool to give the audience a peek at the all the information Batman is absorbing at any given time.

As for the Batsuit itself, try to stick to the below as much as possible--with the exception of the trunks; those can be removed. Have the costume be as sleek and cloth-like as possible (write of this off in dialogue as a high-tech weave or some such), and have retractable eyes. Toy with the shade of gray if you wish, but keep the large pouches on the belt and, as for gadgets inside, go somewhat low-tech (nothing too drastically basic, but he shouldn't have gear that's too sci-fi tech). The cape slightly drapes off the shoulder, but is also removable. And as for now, I am partial to a practical cowl that is visually aided by CGI to allow the actor movement on set.

These manips posted in the fan art thread do a good job of rendering using Pattison using a similar model (minus the retractable white lenses):

It'd be super cool if they established this is how he operates and then later in the movie his suit is either damaged or he's completely without it and we see him do the same things without the tech.

I'll be down for this. Also they can have that sonar scan in TDK or x-ray scan in the Arkham games to show Batman in detective move.

I dig the concept of this a great deal... if not quite the execution.

Im liking the look more and more where the chin and neck is better covered up.
I think ever since injustice.
Its a interesting look and makes a lot of sense since it protects neck and chin better.
The angularity / pointiness also goes really well with the "Bat" motif.

i think they should take some inspiration from John Wick on the way Batman’s armour functions in the movie.

For those of you who haven’t seen the John Wick films (and that’s a hideous oversight you really should remedy as soon as possible), he is given a tailored suit that has bullet stopping material woven into the fabric of the suit. It looks like an expensive black Armani suit, but protects him from bullet penetration - although they still hurt like hell.

Something like this could allow a far more streamlined, cloth Batsuit, but still provide the protection he requires. Okay, it’s a complete fantasy, but if it works for Wick, it can work for Wayne!

They can do anything they want. That's what we pro-fabric people have been saying for years. It ultimately boils down to what costume fits the director's aesthetic. Everything else is just semantics.

I like this design. Very modern knight feel to it.

I would not mind something like this, with a better cowl. Very equipment-based, lace-up combat boots, modern enough but with a hint of samurai armor. Most people seem to want a close translation of the comics look, and I do too, but I'm open to a "weirder" look in the off chance Reeves opts for sth more distinctive, à la Darren Aronofsky's Batman Year One. Right now he comes across as a wild card anyway.

For the cowl, I'd take a Nite-owl type of arrangement so the mask can hang back like a hood... or what they have going on here. It looks great, visually layered and equipment-y, with the plus that it allows for full neck mobility.

I think that something like this would be great (with slightly longer ears and a better belt):

modernised version of b89.. i like it. However, i feel with a lot of manips, the art and style of drawing really helps gloss over the impracticalities of realism, if that makes sense. The emblem for instance looks flat, across a curved chest plate so will stick out. The belt will need tweaking as when he bends, maneuvers it will dig into him.
