The BATSUIT Thread

Yeah, I’m more than fine with an all black Batman suit again, provided it avoids the rubber onesie look from BB89 to Begins.

Like Boy Scout says, more of a cloth feel, instead of rubber. Something that doesn’t have any shiny bits, and less resembles a wet suit.

Something in the same spirit as Bermejo’s Bat suit... but without the strange raised bat logo connected to the cape.

Something vaguely similar to the Batman Returns suit then?

Yeah, I think we're far too deep with the "Batman's Cowl is Black" mentality for that to change anytime soon.
Not necessarily. I don't want fake musculature or techy-designs. The base design of the BvS suit is great in that regard. Just textured to look like fabric and some seams here and there.

I dunno. The more I think about it, the Kane/Finger design probably would have fit better with Hoult or Gyllenhaal, as their jaws sort of taper off to a more pointed chin. Their facial structures would have really complimented the flushed-out ears.

Pattinson's jaw is almost a perfect square, so I think he's made for an Aparo/Adams cowl. Long ears pointed straight up. Sharp and angular.

Hmm. I hear what you're saying, but what's interesting about Pattinson is that he has a longish skull to match that perfectly square jaw. This is somewhat uncommon as most lantern-jawed types tend to have relatively shorter skulls. Point being, the longer skull combined with his overall sharp features more than satisfy the requirements of a V-shaped cowl (or any cowl really) like the one pictured above. The "flushed-out" ears do most of the work anyway regardless of the wearer's head shape.

Phrenology!!!

I kid.

Also, am I alone in thinking we should go back to the not-bulletproof suit? An actually fabric suit even?

Throw logic out the window. This is a comic book film.

If you elongated the ears, had a different bat symbol, and a slimmer build Affleck's costume would look like the ideal Batman costume.

Something like a more professional looking take on the Netflix Daredevil suit then?

Not necessarily. I was thinking of something more along the lines of whatever Superman’s costume is made out of.

I mean Kevlar in itself is a fabric. Just have some explanation early on saying it's some advanced version of kevlar that can stop higher calibre rounds. The key is to have it sound just real enough that people buy it.

I guess I'm alone in wanting to see a non-bullet proof suit then.

You're not. If James Bond, Daredevil, or any number of the MCU characters can get away with it, then Batman can too. For some reason Batman fans are the only ones who seem to overthink this.

Besides, it's not just the penetration of the bullet that's dangerous. Even with bullet-proof fabric, he'd need some sort of padding to absorb the impact. Otherwise there's still a risk of internal bleeding. Bullet-proof fabric alone doesn't solve the issue.

It just doesn’t make sense to me that he wouldn’t make his costume bulletproof if it were an option. And it is an option, assuming the movie isn’t a period piece.

Again... what's the point of having a billionaire superhero if you're not gonna have him use some more creative materials instead of just cloth?

The Avengers were funded by a billionaire too, and I didn't see Tony Stark decking Steve Rogers out in bullet-proof costumes. Bond is funded by MI6 and he's often sent into very dangerous situations without any body armor at all (but they'll give him cars and gadgets out the ass). The amount of money doesn't matter to me here.

It's simply not that interesting. A guy running around fighting criminals when I know he can't get hurt. Affleck got shot in the head point-blank in BvS and I hated that.

Bruce spent years training to be a ninja. He's a tactician, and a master of stealth. The name of the game is not being seen and not getting hit, and he's the best at it. And if he gets hurt, or has the capacity to get hurt, it adds a sense of stakes and drama to the action sequences. If he's running around virtually bullet-proof then he might as well be Iron Man.
