The BATSUIT Thread

These threads would be quite boring if every single user would only write positive things about the casting , the designs... don't you think? Places like this should be open to everyone's opinion.
I won't tell you your business. You're free to post wherever you want. I just know that when a movie does not interest me at all, I tend to not post on those boards. Seems a waste of my time to continuously express an opinion on something that I'm not invested in. But hey, it's your time.

As a Batman fan, I can't quite fathom how a noirish, POV-driven, detective Batman movie with an established rogues gallery does not excite you in the least bit. To each their own.

I'm blue/gray with the oval all day, but I think we're going back to all black rubber. And probably getting a Tankmobile, a lackluster Batcave, and I think Gotham will be incredibly mediocre/"grounded".

See, if that were the case I would pretty much lose a lot of faith in Reeves' vision straight away. All black rubber is a possibility I guess, and I wouldn't mind that personally-- but I would be very surprised if he's just going to immediately revert back to another Tank and a stripped down realism approach to the whole world. I am trusting that he's smart enough to know that just following Nolan's approach while making it more of a noir detective story isn't going to be enough to give the franchise the breath of fresh air it needs. And with this film supposedly being packed with villains, I see that lending itself to a more fantasy-based approach.

It just seems like it would lack imagination if his vision for the universe is an extension of the Nolanverse aesthetically.

Well, what do you think of the new Joker movie?

True, but that's Todd Phillips' choice. That should have no bearing on what Reeves does.

I'm putting less of an onus on Phillips to reinvent the whole franchise here, since that's an elseworlds story focused on one character. I'm also still kind of surprised that movie even exists, and am not sure what to make of it yet- but hoping for the best.

Well, I don't think we're getting the oval, so there's that. :hehe:

I don’t want anything too tactical or militarized.

Some of the designs on this page are preeetty iffy.

I think the ideal setup would have a durable fabric layer over top of a more armored undersuit. Both layers should be very thin though. Agility should be paramount with this more lithe Batman. He’ll be less about brute strength like Affleck and more about speed, often using his brain to win fights instead of his fists.

I’m in a similar position. Actually, I’m even fine with a similar armored looking suit, IF the actor can move well.

Motion is paramount for me this time around. I want the actor and stuntmen to be able to move and allow for good action sequences. We’re in a golden age for action, and Batman deserves to be in on that.

He won't. He can't.

He can and will if it fits the story he’s telling and the character he’s creating.

And there will be nothing wrong with that, if the story is great and the character is very well realised.

Having said that, I don’t see him returning to the old bulgy black rubber look. Technology has moved on enough for something better to be done.

I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised by what Reeves comes up with. The guy has a very good aesthetic eye.

Yeah. I think we still need to remember that while his Apes films had very gritty looks, they were still films that starred talking monkeys. Reeves isn’t exactly afraid to tackle weird looks. He just finds ways to make them feel grounded, while still being a weird idea.

I think Reeves is going to have a sprinkle of 'burton' to his batman, in the same way he'll be treading into the mind with this - why is a man dressed as a bat? why does he do it, what is it all for and therefore i think he'll play up the craziness to do it/pull it off.

Bruce will literally want to hide away in this world he has created due to ptsd and it will let him be this different person and use theatrics to get his point of view across the criminals.. i think to begin with, that will be his motives then as he gets more experienced, the suit will be tweaked and more secure. I can see the cowl looking organic, i can also see this batman looking the most 'evil', like a gargoyle - i even think that will be part of his stealth to blend in, up on the roof tops.

See, if that were the case I would pretty much lose a lot of faith in Reeves' vision straight away. I think the car will be a side project thing, he will use a bike to get around - a car stands out too much but i think, for one instance, he uses the car... and it's more used as a distraction, speed... than protection - he won't be hanging about. no pun intended.

It's like wayne mannor has a garage for old cars, concept cars etc and bruce takes a shining to one, devilish look drag racing car, the plot requires him to get to arkham/gotham in record speed and knowing the underground routes, paths etc, that's the best thing to use.

Who knows? Maybe he will roll with something like this:
