The BATSUIT Thread

Don't want shoulder straps, reminds me of Captain America, and straps won't allow the cape to fully drape over the shoulders.

Dislike shoulder pads too. He looks like he's going to say "Avengers assemble" anytime. :o

It’s well done to be sure but you are 100% correct that this is the Avengers version of Batman (right down to him probably almost never wearing the mask lol)

Heh, I knew we wouldn't get them white shades. Not a deal breaker for me. I knew it wouldn't happen when even someone like Snyder didn't do it, and that is saying a lot.

We might still get them for a scene or two but the eyes will probably be visible the rest of the time. Fine by me.

Snyder did do the lenses, they were just in the mech suit.

I appreciate the first two being different but why does Batman need backpack straps?
I think current costume designers have found them a useful aesthetic tool to try and communicate both utility aspects to a character’s costume and to emphasize a character’s musculature. Captain America wound up having them become a standard part of his design from TWS onward, and Netherrealsm studios has used them on several character models, including Catwoman.

I think it’s an aesthetic that comes from two places: because it resembles shoulder holsters for guns, it’s basically a modern version of the old bandolier or baldrick belt, and if you place it on a suit right, it can emphasize a character’s chest and shoulders.

I think it should only go on a Batsuit that goes for a utilitarian look, and where you want to emphasize the idea that the suit was assembled from different sources. It’s kind of like the disconnected gloves from the gauntlets that calls back to the first Batman costume in the comics and was used in Zero Year, or how some fans and concept artists have an exposed climbing harness.

Basically, it’d a possible tool for showing how young Batman is, and how he’s not quite reached the more fantastic suit design yet.

Two that I really like.

After Nolan's black 'armored' versions, Snyder's gray and black rugged textures, and all the black rubber of the 90s, I'd like to see a lean and simple suit, at least to start. The black/navy/gold palate of that first image looks great, could feel very new on film.

...that second one is super sexy, pretty sure the suit over his left should (the second one in from the right) was a action figure I had from Batman Returns.

I’m still trying to remember the BVS reveal...
What were people’s consensus back then?

I remember I hated the short ears at first and then I loved them.

I think i'm the only one who loves the shorter ears. I feel this is something just about right for Batman.

Shorter ears are present in the majority of his most famous and iconic looks in the comics.
