The BATSUIT Thread

Gotham

It looked more like "trash bag batman"

So they decide to get an older actress to play the older Selina for one episode but they can't hire an older actor for Bruce/Batman?

That was a really odd decision

It was an older actor, they just CGI'd his face for that scene, the only scene they showed his face. The Selina actress said she'd rather they cast someone older instead of her.

Seems highly unlikely unless we're talking maybe the very end.

That’s a model.

Sure, but if there's a second suit in the movie, a piece of merchandise could reflect that.

That said, there is absolutely nothing of what little we can see of the suit in those pics that couldn't be the suit we've already seen. Looking at this and thinking it might be a different design is absolutely grasping at straws.

There's gonna be a second suit guys. It isn't a comic book movie without one.

I hope that the only upgrades that Bruce does over the entire trilogy to tech and suit is just gradually replacing random pieces one at a time, rather than entire suit upgrades. I don't think we've ever seen that in a comic book movie before, so it could feel fresh. I like how Mando did it in season 1, very videogame esque and lets you form a bond with the gear in a way instead of replacing it outright. Not a fan of any "second suit" mock ups or fan art I've seen. The collar is too good!

I love everything about the suit except the ears, which I think look super dumb and like antennae from a couple angles (but I've overlooked it because literally everything else looks flawless to me). I wouldn't mind a cowl upgrade for new ears eventually, but the cowl itself is amazing. The first reveal we got was the hottest thing ever, I love the stitched look you get up close and how it makes Pattinson's face feel gaunt and skeletal. The camera test reveal + when we first see him enter the room are straight up the best Batman has ever looked on screen imo. I don't get why anybody would want an *entirely* different suit at all.

Your mention of the Mandalorian suggests another advantage to consistency: identifiable gear doesn't just lead to an emotional attachment. Identifiable gear is narratively useful. Once the audience knows what a given tool does, you can both use it as an ever-present Chekhov's Gun, and you can also imply the result of a scene simply by showing the image. The same would apply for Batman and his gadgets, doubly so if you exploit it via Utility Belt Loading Montages.

That one is easy: because even the best actual physical suit cannot compare with the vague dream-image of The Perfect Batman Costume. Something that has to actually exist in real life can never hold up to an idea that doesn't even necessarily have to be drawable.

Nitpick here but there's still no shot of him with the cape wrapped over his body :oldrazz:. Hope this cape will be able to do that eventually.

Looks cool. I'm still a bit disappointed that they went for the armour look, but it makes sense for them to try something that looks nothing like Batfleck.

So what do we think is going on with the underside of his forearm here? Maybe the reel mechanism for the grapple gun?

Probably the folded up batarang comes from there to spring into his hand, like Travis Bickle with the gun in Taxi Driver or hidden blades in Assassin's Creed. Or same deal with a smoke pellet or something - it def holds something to spit into his hand

That's a pretty cool idea.

that's actually a brilliant idea. you might be on to sth.

The Travis Bickle comparison is solid. I love that while this Bruce clearly has resources, it’s still basically a one man operation. He’s powered mostly by his own ingenuity and inventiveness. I love it.
