Sci-Fi The Battlestar Galactica and Caprica Discussion Thread - Part 1

Lee's speech he gives at Baltar's trial is probably my favorite part of the entire show.

Any moment with Saul Tigh or an Eight is my favorite part of the entire show. :o:up:

Definitely my favorite part of season 3. BBC America has begun replaying the series. An episode comes on every saturday at 7 pm.

I don't understand why they didn't just make a show about the first Cylon war.

The Galactica in its prime. Plenty of action and story to be had.

Oh I see what you mean now. I thought you were referring to the chronology, not the order that the series' were released.

Nah. Personally, I don't mind a series like Caprica. But I think it's too different, and too cerebral for most people (including some people who liked BSG).

My favourite scene is after Dualla's suicide when Adam essentially tries to goad Saul Tigh into killing him, it's such a powerful scene and played beautifully by the actors

Yeah, same here. On of my absolute favorite moments from the series.

I actually prefer the discussion about the signal with Deanna and 4 of the final 5. It was the first time someone acted and spoke rationally on the show IMO. It was Lee's reply to the 'This has all happened before, and will happen again'... 'But it doesn't have to'. At this point in the series, I was screaming: FINALLY!!!!!!

but for me, I think my all time favorite bit of the series was the lead in to the 6 month Pegasus cliffhanger... with Adama and Caine *****ing at each other over the radio. The camera work in that scene was amazing, with the camera rotating around both tables... great scene, great work.

Another great scene. I think "FINALLY!!" was my response as well. :woot:

The "Pegasus Trilogy" as I call it is my favorite piece of the series because that's where it went from "great" to "****ing incredible" for me. In particular, the moment where Adama orders an attack on the Pegasus really got to me. Humanity was in such an incredibly fragile state, and he was ready to tear it to pieces because his men were being treated unjustly. That moment says so much about him.

God the show is just so damn good.

Season 2 in general is some of the best the show ever saw. The opening of the Season 2 season finale with Mccreary's score playing was some atmospheric tv.

Mutiny arc = best arc of any series. Ever!

:o

It was pretty good. I wish there was more build up to it though. It seemed to kind of come out of nowhere.

I always thought Baltar talking to his imaginary 6 was funny but the scene where he's chatting up Tory and then starts taliking to his imaginary self is just hysterical "Oh my giddy aunt!":woot::hrt:

Just finished rewatching the entire series and will now start publishing my ep by ep review....only joking:woot: (or am I?:cwink:)

Ok, finally decided my favourite bit of acting is when Adama discovers Tigh is a Cylon and just breaks down. For an actor who played stoic chatacters in Blade Runner and Miami Vice he just pours it out, Ellen was right, the greatest love in the show is between Tigh, Adama and the Galactica. Her final battle and her eventual end is stunning, you just know she'll never let her crew down, putting it all on the line at the colony and then managing to jump away intact one last time, saving them all and bringing them to their new home.

The coup ep is stunning although not perfect. We've had character after character knocked out on the show with no lasting damage but when Zarek KO's the crew chief he ends up killing him? His decision to wipe out the quorum seems arbitary and nonsensical. Love the final talk between Baltar and Gaeta, so nice that he can forgive him for lying at his trial. Richard Hatch was such a boon to the series and marvellous that Felix can go from such a minor character to a major player

Weird how your memory plays tricks on you. I could have sworn that in Starbucks last scene she says 'Goodbye Lee' and when he turns around she's gone. Rewatching her last words to him are asking 'What are you going to do now?' and he starts to tell her about his wish to explore then turns around to realise he's alone. I also realised that when Rosalin says 'So much life' before she dies she's not just talking about the wildlife but herself.

Baltar, the most morally ambiguous character on the show becomes the hero in the end, fighting literally to the last round. His final remark that he 'knows about farming' is a killer when you think back to when we met his dad.

Love Admiral Hoshi (he was supposed to be Gaeta's boyfriend?) and President Lampkin, talk about giving the job to those who want it least!

It's a bit much that Racetracks dead hand fires the nukes at the vital moment but I guess we have to see divine intervention at work. Love the scene between imaginary Six and imaginary Baltar in Times Square and the real-life robot scenes give you pause for thought.

Not sure about the whole 'back to nature' thing, I think that would last about as long as it took for someone to get a toothache.

So I just finished watching BSG for the first time on Netflix. I liked the first two seasons, felt it fell apart in the third, but finished strong in the fourth. Overall I really enjoyed the show.

The music for this show is just.... *standing ovation*

Indeed. I really love all the music in the show. My favorite is Something Dark is Coming.
