Sci-Fi The Battlestar Galactica and Caprica Discussion Thread - Part 1

On reflection for the entire series I think my favourite character was Baltar and my favourite episode was Scar, heavily influenced by the Space; Above and Beyond eps 'Who monitors the birds?' and 'The Angriest Angel' (and by The Deer Hunter with Cavatina at the end). Love the interplay between Starbuck and Cat and love Starbucks very realistic attitude that even were they to find Earth the Viper pilots wouldn't be there to see it, their chances of survival are so slim

Bear McCreary is a god among men...

If any scene made my jaw hit the floor it was this one. Sorry for the ****** quality, but its the best english version I could find.

Agreed 100%. I just about dropped a deuce when that scene first aired. I still listen to that piece of music constantly too.

I do too. It still gives me chills when the camera comes over head and all you can see is their hands and the piano. The music at that part is :wow:.

Is it SFW?

Just watched the finale last night again, god I love the bit where the battered and bleeding Galactica makes her final jump and passes over the surface of a barren moon then you see the lush blue and green planet appear behind it, make out the outline of Africa and think "Yes, welcome humanity to your new home!"

"It reminds me of you."

Aaaaaand then the tears start coming. :csad:

Oh god. The part where Adama slips his ring on her finger. I got really choked up during that scene. :csad:

Edit: By the way, what's up with Blood and Chrome? Did Syfy cancel it already?

Lol, yes its safe and full of win.

anybody got any news on BandC? I was searching around looking for a release date for the 2 hour premier episode, but couldn't find much beyond the 'it's filming' from back in February

Indeed. I really love all the music in the show. My favorite is Something Dark is Coming.
That's my favorite as well. That, "The Shape of Things to Come," "Prelude to War," and "Gaeta's Lament" are pretty much my favorite pieces of music ever composed for television. And yes, that includes all of Giacchino's work (which I do love) for Lost.

As for B&C, I'm hoping we hear something around Comic-Con.

Hopefully. Blood and Chrome finished filming back in May, so I guess from then to Comic-Con would be enough time for the SFX duders to whip up some decent looking CGI for a presentation.

One can only imagine.

I was watching the eps where Adama rescues everyone from New Caprica the other day, it was epic! If I was to have one favourite moment it would be Lee looking around the Pegasus bridge one last time after everyone else is abandoning ship as if to say "Thank you, you did us proud". You can't help but to think of Admiral Kane and smile

The season 3 finale with Lee's speech at Baltar's trial and The Final 4 finding each other just do it for me. I watched that as it aired only seeing the season 3 premiere and a few more episodes after. Missed all the Eye of Jupiter stuff and the first 2 seasons but watched the little catch up thing before the premiere. I remember watching that and just going WOW knowing that I had to get the boxsets. EXACT same thing happened to me with LOST and it's season 3 finale I just knew I had to watch it all after seeing that

To me most of Season 3 was the weakest point of the show, but wow, that ender with the Final 4 finding each other was just jaw dropping.

Aside from some filler, I see no problem with season three. That was probably my favorite season for Baltar.

I thought season 3 great. I loved the first two seasons, but the third was when the show really elevated to another level for me.

I wasn't too fond of the New Caprica stuff, I was eager to get back into space. Lee's speech at Baltar's trial is great, I always wondered why they didn't say to Rosalin and Adama on the stand that they had chosen to run away and abandon human survivors on the colonies rather than fight a hopeless battle. But Baltar didn't have the choice to run away

The season 3 finale killed the show for me. I never really could get into it after that. Though I did enjoy The Plan quite a bit (of course it was based largely on the first season; which was nearly flawless IMO). As for Caprica, I couldn't get into that either, though it started growing on me when I watched the SyFy Channel marathon right before the series finale. The last 5-6 episodes were pretty engrossing.

I wasn't crazy about the season 3 finale the first time I saw it, but I love it now.

I love all the seasons, but season 4 is probably my favorite. It's non stop heading for the finish line. As far as finale's go, the season 3 finale is my favorite.

Season 4 is my probably my favorite as well. And I know the series finale is pretty divisive, but I thought it was perfect.
