The Beatles: Rock Band

Retail Radar: Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Amazon offering Fab Four's upcoming game packed in with standard guitar, drums, and microphone for $140-$160.

Beatles fans have long understood that the Fab Four's music and merchandise often command a premium over those of merely mortal musicians. So it wasn't incredibly surprising when the Beatles: Rock Band Limited Edition bundles were announced with look-alike instruments for $250.

You could still get a complete band bundle of Rock Band 2 and the stand-alone Beatles: Rock Band game for the same price as that $160 Special Value bundle.

However, with just two weeks to go until the game's September 9 launch, new product listings from retailers like Wal-Mart, Best Buy, and Amazon indicate that the Beatles game will also be available in another instrument-laden bundle. The "Special Value Edition" of the game carries a relatively thrifty suggested retail price of $160, although Best Buy and Amazon are charging $140 for the package.

According to the Amazon product description, the Special Value Edition includes a copy of The Beatles: Rock Band, a standard Rock Band guitar, drums, a microphone, a USB hub, and a guitar strap. The Limited Edition package is essentially the same, but it replaces the standard Rock Band instruments with a Beatles-branded drum kit and a Hoffner bass controller. The Limited Edition bundle also includes a mic stand and unspecified "additional special game content."

The Beatles: Rock Band is set for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Basically, if you don't already have RB instruments and don't want to get the Limited Edition, you can get this. It will probably have the RB2 Stratocaster and RB2 drums. Good deal since the sets for RB2 were around $190 last year.

I don't have a record player.

CD player? Mp3 player? Tape deck? It's not like the only way to listen to the Beatles is on vinyl, so I don't know what the hell you're even talking about here. Just put in Abbey Road and start with You Never Give Me Your Money.

Anyway...

Best Buys all over the place have the demo for this up. It's pretty awesome. If it looks like just Rock Band 2, hit the guide button and restart it, and it should give you the option to play either RB2 or Beatles.

My comment was tongue in cheek.

I'm really excited for the game, but is anyone else disappointed that "Hey Jude" is nowhere to be found in the setlist or in the announced downloadable content? :csad:

to me that song is way over played and im EEKK kind of glad it wasn't included but i have no problem if it comes to a DLC pack or something..

Hey Jude is strongly rumored to be the secret 45th song. I'll be kind of sad if it is, as really, that song is going to be BORING AS HELL to play in a game like this. Most of it is piano and orchestra, with very little in the way of guitar and drums. And 3 minutes of just going "na na na na na na, na na na na, HEY JUDE! (Judey Judey Judey Judey Judey JUDE!)" is going to get real old, real fast.

For the tiniest of moments I actually thought, no matter how nonesensical, that it meant The Doors song :(

Can't wait till the game comes out. But come one, no "Hey Jude" or "Across the Universe" on disc? That kinda sucks.

Hey Jude wouldn't be fun to play on anything. Even singing would get really old, really fast with the last 3 minutes just being "na na na na na na na" over and over again. It's a good song, but doesn't need to be in this game. And I'll bet you anything we get the rest of Let It Be as DLC down the road.

So, it would appear the remastered stereo box set coming out on tuesday has leaked. I'm not saying I got it, but if I did get it, I'd probably say something along the lines of "holy s**t this sounds fantastic," and "I cant wait for 9/9/09 even more now so I can take home my huge haul of Beatles cds, game, and game accessories."

this is easily my most anticipated game of this year.

It means that there MAY be a situation in which I have it, but I can not confirm that I have it in reality. It's all a hypothetical situation. Hypothetical Me has it, but REAL Me admits nothing!

Hypothetical Me also MAY have 4 of the mono versions of the album, which are hypothetically AMAZING.

Did you hypothetically get this hypothetical boxset on some hypothetical torrent?
