The Bush Thread

I dont care for Bush that much....I just cant understand why more people blame Congress, who is where the true power lies....or should...
They haven't done anything..
Bush gets most blame since he's been involved in getting things moving which ended up being incredibly corrupt and stupid to begin with. Those bills and the people he's hired to carry them out in the government give him a tremendous amount of responsibility.

That said, Congress still should be blamed. Both parties should be ashamed about their behavior in the last 8 years, though the Republican party deserves the majority.

Say what you will about GW the President, but GW the man is effing cool.

Some of you seem to be measuring intelligence by how much scholarly collegiate education a person has. Your amount of education does not necessarily determine your intelligence. There are poorly educated but very intelligent (in common sense, competent terms, not necessarily learning, well-read, scholarly, etc.), and people who have had the most prestigious education possible and not absorbed anything.

I highly expect he'll be attending many Texas Rangers games in 2009 and the 100 or so Rangers fans will boo him.

I am happy for George W. and Laura Bush that they can now relax and live a more laid back lifestyle.

Did you all hear the crowd as Bush flew off in the Marine 1? They was singing the "Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey... Goodbye" song.:lmao::lmao:

They did that in front of the White House on election night too. I even saw one guy playing a trombone. :lmao:

LOL ya know, I thought I heard that song, but was half paying attention to the TV at that point and thought I misheard.

I think that sucks. I think people should be more gracious.

Yes let us give respect to the man who put this country back forty years. I'm suprised he didn't get egged as he walked into the helicopter.

Despite personal feelings, he is still a (now former) president of this country. He's out of office. He cannot do anymore damage. There is no need to add insult to injury.

I agree. They were doing it (quite loudly I might add... louder than when his helicopter took off, and probably loud enough for him to be able to hear it) when Bush was introduced at the start of the inauguration as well. This is not the day for partisan politics. I may not agree with the man, but he's not our President anymore, and insulting him on what is probably already a pretty emotional day for him is uncalled for. Whether or not he deserves the criticism is irrelevant... he didn't deserve that at what is supposed to be an event where we come together as a nation.

Want to bet I can opinions and articles on the net that suggest otherwise?

I can get articles on the net that say the Holocaust is a creation of the Jews.

I measure intelligence not just in terms of education, but in terms of actual accomplishments and I think Bush competence has had more hits then misses. If someone has a great education, but can't run a business, how useful are they?

And Bush has not only an impressive bag of diplomas and success as Governor of Texas and was elected twice as President.

These are merely your pet theories, not facts.

Clinton leaving Bush a recession isn't a theory

The thing people will remember is how bad the state of affairs is at the end of the President's term, that may not be fair.

It's obviously not - but, again, thats why I don't take much stock into the approval rating as they leave office.

Of course I have seen no evidence that Bush is a military genius either.

I never claimed Bush was a military genius, but that's why he has people like Robert Gates and General Patereaus who are.

Considering the amount of political capital Bush was asking for in regards to this war, Bush not having all the pieces of the puzzle put together right away, means that people were going to lose faith in this project in short order and that's what happened. The war becoming unpopular was his fault and only his fault, getting his **** together 3 years later is too little, too late, he missed his chance.

Except that Iraqi is a success now...

Well its impossible to be wrong, all the time, that's just silly.

Not entirely.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

President's aren't clocks.

I never presented my theories as indisputable facts, you did, you treating your theory as indisputable, that's what I didn't like. I hate that kinda of attitude, its self rightous and arrogant and don't care if it comes from a left or right winger.

:lmao: And I think you actually believe this which makes it doubly amusing.

But its not indisputable like you claimed it was, that makes your original statement arrogant in a unwarrented manner and I don't care that.

When did I call it indisputable?

You actively insulted me and called me an ignortant child, because I disagreed with it, you made it petty and personal, that is why I don't like your statements, that is a childish attitude.

If I insulted you by telling you to grow up, I am sorry, but I would still recommend it.

I didn't start with the personal insults because of it though.

Get some thicker skin.

That departemnt was controlled by Bish's officals when that report was released, still think your theory is an indisputable fact?

Again, as Para said, the Federal Reserve is guilty of its own sin on the matter and thus there thoughts on the issue are not exactly final.

I never said it was, when did I say that, you did say it.

Frankly if you are going to be rude like, you better be damn sure your theory is fact, which it clearly isn't its theory.

You want me to treat you in an civil manner, act in a civil way, learn some manners and then I wil stop harping on this.

I treat intelligent and thoughtful opinions with the respect that should come with it - you simply have no prove deserving.

Again those are before age of information, now every blooper is on the net forever, that's why I don't think Bush will recover.

Give it time...give it time...

Exactly. It's racism, plain and simple. And the attacks on his middle name are a combination of racism and xenophobia. Which makes it even cooler that these attacks didn't prevent him from getting elected. I hope he crams his middle name down their throats over the next 4 or 8 years.

To me, it wasn't that astonishing that a black man was elected President. I figured I'd see it someday. I was amazed, however, that a black man with an ex-Muslim father and the middle name Hussein was elected Prez only seven years after 9/11. That I couldn't have anticipated.

Despite personal feelings, he is still a (now former) president of this country.

So what?

He's out of office.

His cronies will be back, though.

He cannot do anymore damage.

He made America a rogue nation who committed war crimes. If this had been any other nation would you be so kind? What kind of damage did he need to commit before you'd consider it good to punish him?

There is no need to add insult to injury.
Bush beat us to it. We're just returning the favor.

Their behavior was childish, simply my opinion. Not really anything that needs to be debated....
