Warner Bros clearly has big plans for its growing DC movie universe, with next year's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Suicide Squad to be followed by Justice League, Wonder Woman and Aquaman. There's also the small matter of Ben Affleck's stand-alone Batman film, which he'll write and direct.
We've now heard, however, that Affleck's role in the DC movies is about to get even bigger.
According to an industry source who will remain anonymous, a cut of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was screened for the film's crew and Warner bosses within the past 24 hours or so. "It's a near finished cut but not locked," our source tells us.
That screening was, we're told, a glowing success - to the point where Zack Snyder's movie received a "standing ovation".
Warner is said to be so impressed with Affleck's performance as Batman that it's apparently in the process of making an extended, "Golden deal", which could see the actor play the Caped Crusader in a trilogy of stand-alone movies, not the single outing already announced.
All told, this deal could see Affleck in the role of Batman for the next 10 years or so.
"Basically, Warners are now working their movie universe around Ben's Batman," our source says.
As far as Warner's bosses are concerned, Affleck is considered to be the "definitive Batman" and could be the hub around which the DC movie universe will rotate in future movies.
Of course, this is all unconfirmed at this point, but if there's truth to the story, it's likely that an official confirmation will emerge fairly soon. We'll keep you posted as and when we hear more.

Just thinking... What if Batman gets access to the tech recovered from the scout ship? The ship had those hibernation pods. Could Batman use Kryptonite and some other means as a way of weakening Superman enough to get him into one of those pods and put him to sleep?

I'm not ashamed to admit that I choked back some tears at the end of Rises.

The music was somber for one but just think about Robins plight. He's setting himself out on the same path that Bruce followed. It's a dark path, people will get hurt especially himself. I loved the feeling of 'father, son' I got from Bruce and Robin. It's just a sad plight that has a spark of hope. Idk

In that scene with Alfred "That's how it starts..." speech, the tv screen looks like Supes when he was learning. If Bruce's satellite picked it up then he might know where that ship is

i hope we see a scene where Bruce is in the cave with multiple monitors in front of him analysing every single footage of superman like a conspiracy theorist to the point where Alfred becomes rather concerned about his mental well-being

Honestly, while I can realistically picture Ben being offered the option of starring in three solo Batman films, I can't see them forcing the entire DCEU to revolve around Batman, let alone on any one character (Superman included).

Snyder has said that he's already mapped out what the entire DCEU will look like and unless he wants to go back on his own word and undo everything that he did with MOS, then he's not going to neuter Superman in order to make Batman the Bat-God of the DCEU.

Plus, making the entire universe revolve around one character does the DCEU no favors.

I think a lot of folks got choked up toward the end of Rises when it seemed like he sacrificed himself. I remember in my theater I heard few people say..he can't be dead and oh wow comments.

Well, the truth of the matter is that Batman is the most popular character that DC has in its library. I do not believe they regard Superman as much as Batman for that reason. Now, with that being said, Superman is also one of their big franchises.

Making Batman the focal point of the DCEU is just good business. Batman is probably the most popular comic book character of them all, both Marvel and DC. That said, I do hope that Superman doesn't get pushed to the side.

I find it really hard to believe that they're planning yet another Batman trilogy in the midst of the broader DCCU movies which will include Batman as well. And that's without mentioning Affleck's busy schedule of his own films he's yet to make and how dubious some of the lines from that rumor read.
