The Cape

if they have a bad ass finale...i could see them giving it a 2nd season... there is a fanbase with interest in the potential. i really think if the season ends well, they could get a few new writers and really have a good series on their hands.

If they somehow got the ratings up to Chuck levels, it might, might, bet new life as a mid-season replacement, or late season premier like Human Target or V.

Actually, it would have to get better than Chuck levels. Because Chuck's fanbase is very vocal and very loyal, and I don't see that with the Cape.

Not necessarily. Chuck has been on for awhile without much improvement in numbers. Hence, the size of its audience is unlikely to grow. Meanwhile, The Cape is new and thus (in theory) could still potentially grow.

Wait, how can Chuck still be on if the numbers aren't that good?

It's because they know Chuck won't go any lower (Chuck's ratings haven't been good but it's been consistent and steady), plus a lot of the newer shows for NBC haven't been going well so Chuck's the best thing they have rather than cancelling it, putting a new show in the spot that could (and given that it's NBC, most likely will) fail, and rating could fall lower than Chuck's ratings ever were.

Wow that episode was...kind of good. If the show had this kind of tight cohesion and slight (and I do mean slight) edge to it from the beginning it may not have gotten cancelled. Or it at least would have gotten through the full 12 episode order. I hope this mini-saga ends before the sow does.

Just found out Izabella Miko is in this show....i shall commence to watching..... f u BL ffffffuuuuuuuu :cmad:

So, I'm guessing
Jamie
is Orwell's real name?

As the resolution for the two-parter, I thought the episode was fantastic. Arc-wise, I think it's a bit puzzling how they revealed Orwell's real name and confirmed the identity of her father so offhandedly. That said, I like where they're going with that subplot - wonder what's behind the door?

Great episode, but am I supposed to root for the Cape to get back to his wife or for the Cape to hook up with Orwell?

Next week's ep looks interesting. It may be too little too late but I'll be there.

this show is straight up corny, lame, horribly written....fun, addicting, and god dammit it really has a core of hope. some series have iffy first seasons. if the cape takes fan criticism and keeps acting like its a comic book, its a bad ass series.

end this season strong. this is the perfect time to have a show like this. make it a little more TDK and Watchmen style, and we have a Dexter esque show fit for tv with a batman twist..

****ing sweet IMO.

With this week's new villain, I got a real sense of Dick Tracy type villainy. And in a good way.

well crap :csad:

I know what you mean. The Cape took a risk and experimented with trying to adapt the costumed superhero aspect of comic book superheroes into live-action format for the current generation - in essence, the anti-Heroes. It's a pity the gamble didn't pay off.

That said, I think the concept/gimmick itself was a misstep. Looking at the setting - a city teeming with a corrupt corporation, crooked cops and gangsters - and its protagonist being the city's last honest cop who has been made the patsy by some shadowy, criminal mastermind, it would have been much better suited to have gone a more hardboiled/noir route.

Changes I would have made would be changing Vince's wife into his ex instead. Reuniting with his son in itself would have provided the same motivation as the current, while his single status would allow a more 'shippable' relationship between him and Orwell - or at least create more room for exploration/ship-teasing. A second change would have foregone the elaborate costume in favour of a simple mask (a la The Question and Rorschach) paired with whatever he had on at the time. This would make Vince feel a lot more like a vigilante/superhero since he'd always be 'on the ready' by virtue of always carrying his mask with him. Plus, 'becoming the mask' would be a much more fitting metaphor for his growing obsession with bringing down Chess/Fleming than 'becoming the cape'.

What I still do not get is why he has not told his Family, or at least his wife that he is alive.

Ya I know it is for "safety"

But who would know if he told his wife.

"Hey I am alive..ect..ect..ect.. dont let anyone know"

Also what I do not get is how his "best friend" and his wife of many years can talk to him, where he uses his regular voice with half of his face exposed and not have them figure out in 5 seconds who they are talking to.

(Heck if they were going for the un-realistic cape with abilities route then they might as well thrown in when the user pulls up the hood it cloaks the users face in a darkness and does something to thier voice)

I thought the same thing. I am sad the show is cancelled. I watch it every week with my 8yr old son. He loves it and is also upset its over.

I collect autographs and he made me make this. The comic is signed by Martin Klebba (Rollo), Keith David (Max), James Frain (Fleming), Dorian Missick (Marty) and the creator of the show. It was signed at Comic Con.

It's an unfortunate cliche that haunts the genre to this very day. I guess it's a metaphor of how we all have these issues we feel like we can't talk about with anyone, not even our friends, families or significant others - regardless of whether or not keeping it a secret damages those relationships.

Also a good point. When the son couldn't recognize his own father's voice I was like :whatever:, but when the wife couldn't recognize his voice I was like .

Seen the 2nd eppy...liked it. I love the neat CGI where people throw ball down and smoke comes. Not kidding, awesome effect.

Is the bad guy...split personality?

The series finale airs on NBC.com I read. Eppy 10?

I've seen the two part eppy. Got one more to go before the finale. Think I've missed one. Haven't seen the eppy with slow motion explosion that has the cape in air. I'll buy a DVD of the series for sure.

And I will boldly say...The Cape is better than season 4 of CHUCK. Then again, not hard to do. In other words, both shows are decent, with cape having a edge to it.
