The Catwoman/Selina Kyle Casting Thread - Part 1

Bring Anne Hathaway back. She's 34. And a main theme of The Dark Knight Rises was Batman had retired and come out of retirement. So if she was old enough for a retired Batman when she was 29,
she should be old enough for a older Batman now. Going by Batman: Year One, wasn't Selina supposed to be about 18? So by now Selina would have been Catwoman for 16 years.
(So what if it was a different universe? Do most people even care about things like that?)

The issue is that latter matter, more than the former. If when Catwoman started her career, she was 19 to Batman's 23, that's fine. If she were 16 to his 25, not so much. That said, Anne Hathaway would be fine by me, my concern is more them casting some low-mid 20s actress who looks like she should have been 12 when they first started their dance.

Imo, Anne Hathaway as Selina/Catwoman is overrated. Considering this is a new continuity, I severely doubt she'll be brought back. If that were the case, we'd have J.K. Simmons back as Jonah Jameson but that's not happening either.

I'll be happy to get someone new in the role that isn't Hathaway. Her getting cast again is about as likely as them actually hiring a 20 something year old actress.

If anything she's underrated, at least around forums like this. I find Pfeiffer is overrated in comparison, as solid as she was.

She will never return without Nolan's blessing, for another universe. And i'm glad because the casting hasn't been the best in the DCEU, for the most part. I wouldn't want to see her and Affleck.

Get someone new please. Not to sound so negative but i don't see them casting anyone special in the acting department, and if they do find a good actress, there's always that huge chance they'll screw it up just like they did with Jared Leto. David Ayer is probably the one casting her, so it could be purrfect (look at Margot) or it could be a weird experiment (look at Leto). Either way, the characterization and design was OK at best for Harley Quinn. So there's no guarantee that she's going to look like the Catwoman we all have in our heads. Yes, i'm assuming most of us are thinking of her with the shorter hair, cowl, whip, boobs sticking out. Snyder and Ayer are foaming at the mouth just thinking of her.

I wonder if she'll even be in the Batfleck movie..

They better not go young just so she can fit in with Harley.

I'm going to be highly disappointed if our Catwoman is significantly younger than Affleck.

Same, it wouldn't make sense.

A 35-40 yo Selina would be great in GCS, after all Harley was always more irresponsable and Selina seemed the more mature with Pamela, so an older Selina would be fitting.

I think the actress they will hire for Pamela will be close to Robbie's age and the one for Selina will be close to Ben's. After all, WB had no issue hiring Amy Adams who is 42.

Amy was 37 at the time of filming, and not meant to be a character that every teenage boy would go nuts over. It wasn't about sex appeal, and it was also at a time when they were concentrating on a stand alone Superman movie with just Snyder, Goyer and Nolan figuring things out. Now it's an extended DC universe with spin-offs, trying to compete with Marvel. And guess what? This entire GCS feels like an excuse to sell a bunch of hot chicks doing bad things, but within a comic book movie where boys, girls, men, women can go to the cinema for 2 hours of sexy time.

So as stupid as it would be, i wouldn't be surprised for a second if Warner Brothers and David Ayer decided to cast a young 25-30 year old to play Catwoman. Ben Affleck doesn't seem to be in a hurry to get Catwoman in his movie, which is unfortunate if it ends up the only time we see a Batman film out of this DCEU. So what's stopping Ayer from casting a young actress? Harley, Ivy and Catwoman will probably be in their 20's. I'll be VERY surprised if they did the right thing and made her older.

And just to clarify, when i say that Amy Adams' casting wasn't meant to make teenage boys yank on their chains, i'm not saying Amy isn't sexy. Because personally i find her gorgeous and a lot sexier than most of these younger girls we see in Hollywood or modeling.
