Same universe. The woman explains that there has been many "Catwomen" over the years - which means Selina was one of those granted with the abilities from the cat goddess.

While it's inevitable that they will cast youngER than Affleck, I really hope they don't go ridiculous. If this Batman has been active for 20 years, and he's already accumulated a decent rogues gallery of freaks, I'd like to see a similar treatment applied to his allies.

Especially considering they've already referenced them, and the rocky road they've taken.

Not only do I want to see a Dick Grayson whose no longer talking to Bruce, I wan't a Selina who's already very familiar with Batman, and with whom he's had a past.
Let's not make it creepy by casting a 20 something starlet who would have been a teenager when she first encountered him, and he have been in his late 30's.

Average actress, but would look good opposite Affleck. I think Selina needs a strong actress though.

It matters very little what Selina looks like next to Affleck. The important thing is how she looks next to Margot Robbie and who-ever they cast as Poison Ivy. Because Catwoman is going to get a lot more screen time in Gotham City Sirens
than in The Batman. Most likely any appearance of Selina Kyle in The Batman will be just a cameo and probably just in the Catwoman costume, where her age will be hard to detect anyway.

Kate Beckinsale, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Carla Gugino, Elizabeth Banks, Eva Mendes, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Connelly, Kate Winslet, Thandie Newton, Keri Russell, Lena Headey, Marion Cotillard, Michelle Monaghan, Milla Jovovich, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lopez, Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Elizabeth Hurley, Famke Janssen, Jennifer Aniston, Salma Hayek...

None of them would have what it takes to look good standing as Catwoman next to Margot Robbie, because they'd be considered too "haggy" for being in their 40s and 50s? Okay.

I like how atmospheric it is, though Annable feels too young for the role. Actually, she's in her 30s, but looks younger. Does remind me of Cooke's Selina here, though:

It's almost another thing outside of Ayer's comfort zone. I don't know if those two are aiming for a MiB/Jump Street/Rush Hour thing.

I hear David Ayer's version of the script is better than Max's.

Even though it has fantasy elements its still grounded in Ayer's wheelhouse.

If its indeed a Fantasy version of End of Watch it should be solid.

Besides... 44 year old Batfleck and a 29 year old Catwoman?

But one of the core elements of the DCFU's Batman is that he's supposed to be seasoned and in his 40's. If a younger actor is cast, then that would mean having to retcon his history, etc.

No it wouldn't you just recast cumulatively younger. I very much doubt that- if Cavill is still playing Superman in ten years' time- they will be looking for a 55 year old actor to play Bruce Wayne.
