The Champions:could it be?

Oh so now superheroes have to all get on tv and announce their identities?:whatever: Has anyone been forced to do that yet? Are you telling me that the press conference reveal is part of the law?:whatever:

The reason "Not even COPS have to do that" is because not even superhumans have to do that. :whatever:

And haven't you ever heard of a convict taking revenge on a cop? It's totally a Law & Order staple my man
Hey, that's the jist I got from Newsarama about BLACK PANTHER #21. I haven't read it yet.

And any story that makes a headline is a LAW & ORDER staple. Hell, that show has half as many spin-off's as the X-Men now. ;)

My point is that in the MU, a superhero is probably a larger symbol in the public eye than the "official" peacekeepers like cops, soldiers, etc. That was part of why the SHRA was supposedly made, to unite both of those domains. Yes, yes, I know it's a security vs. liberty thing after Stamford, since ShadowBoxing thinks I don't get it. Why am I wrong when I say there are many "parts" to the concept of the SHRA and CW? Those layers help the story out and keep us debatin'. Cops rarely have supervillians that specifically target them the way many heroes do (nearly every hero could claim to have a "revenge squad" or enemy somewhere). Not saying their jobs would be any easier in MU, just stating that a hero is more in the public eye to begin with so demanding they reveal their ID's to the public along with the law places their families in jeopardy. It's still ironic that Spider-Man, and virtually no other major pro-SHRA hero or heroine, has a civilian family.

Darkstar is usually counted as a member

uhm darkstar died back in new x-men when those robots trying to get fantomex killed her so i have a feeling she wont be back...

wizard interviewed millar a while back about a new team being formed and one of the choices was champions. also wizard did a sidebar on the champions. marvel.com was also advertising Champions ish 1 as a webcomic... coincedence? i think not

i though marvel was legally barred from using "champions" as a team name due to a lawsuit by hero games the owners of the champions roleplaying game:ninja:

they are just gonna be called the Champs this time.

thats chill i guess... the idea of strange being on a team would make my day

Champions huh? Maybe that is the book Dan Slott is working on?

If you name yourselves the Champions, you better have a bunch of heavy hitters. Hercules, Ghost Rider, Iceman are all heavy hitters, but Black Widow and Angel? Now if Hulk and Dr.Strange do join, the name would be worthy of the group.... but then what would be the point of doing that when they're basically the Defenders?

Yeah, I know. We were talking about if she was even ever a member at all.

I think Angel should join the Astonishing X-Men. But that's just me.

I want Iceman to stay where he is. Carey is the first person to write him in character in years.:o

You mean hes not reforming his body from piss anymore?

Wolverine, Cyclops, Frost, etc have all appeared in 3+ books at times and that seemed to be acceptable, so why can't Iceman be on X-MEN and CHAMPIONS if he must?

As for Angel, he usually provided the wealth, as the Stark of the team, and it would be good if he finally was given a combative edge. I mean, Hawkman's basically a winged man with a club and he's a hard-arse. Angel needs some of that. He needs some sort of throwing, bladed weapons to add to his "eagle" eyesight as projectiles, and he needs to use martial arts. Imagine DD with wings, and that chould be Angel in combat. Not a guy who just flutters about and at most tries to grab. That got old 20 years ago.

The Champions were always more of an eclectic "what the--!?" sort of roster, not a league of arse-smashers like the Defenders were. Not that Iceman, Ghost Rider, and Hercules aren't powerful characters, they are.

As I posted before, Darkstar & Bill Foster are dead, and Black Widow is an agent of SHIELD while Iceman, Angel, and Herc seem to be on simular sides of the SHRA debate, and one could imagine Ghost Rider following suit. They'd have 2-3 slots to fill, and two of them female. Any ideas?

I would like to see Cerse back on a team, maybe after Annihilation is over.

And Dread, I wasn't saying he couldn't be on two teams full time, I mean it works for Wolverine, but I just don't want them to hi-jack Iceman. I really like him on the current X-Men lineup that Carey has created.

Bachalo's art aside, the actual characterization has been superb, better than has been written since maybe Morrison.

I could see it....Dan Slott does love Herc....well I assume, since Herc appeared in Both She Hulk and Thing....

Say, Thing......Two members are leaving the FF....Maybe Thing can be on these Champions...That would also fit in with the Slott theory.

You know what I could really see this being what Slott is doing....

He likes Herc, Currently the GLA are calling themselves the Great Lakes Champions.

I just don't know who the line up would be.

I don't want the same team all over again. Angel is fine, Black Widow (Maybe Hercules) seems available...but I'd rather see a majorly updated line up. Something along the lines of NEXTWave too...comedic, not completely a humor book. Maybe even a "I can't believe it's not the Avengers (JLA)" type thing where it is a bunch of old, rejected Avengers members no one follows anymore like Firebird and Living Lightning (Tigra could be an interesting addition too)....something like that.

Herc is upset and disgruntled that Ares got onto an Avengers team and he didn't so he decided to start his own team, he looks to his old team mates for help but finds them all already on the Mighty or New Avengers, so he digs to some other allies and finds his old Comrade Angel starting up a new team, they get Thing and Ghost Rider.

A couple more folks join, maybe a new character........I dunno, but some ladies need onto this team, perhaps Justice and Firestar join in the wake of the New Warriors thing.

Anyway thier first stop is Milwake (Or wherever the GLA are) and they all fight to use the name Champions, luckily Squirrel Girl is away on a space mission and Herc and Crew win.

Black Widow will be in Mighty Avengers...But hells yeah Tigra, but alas Tigra is Pro Reg, the Champions that seem most likely (Angel and Herc) are both Anti Reg....if we are to assume that Civil War is going to have lasting reprocussions then they whole team would be anti Reg. (Thing is Neutral)

OMG, OH MY GOD. Spidey is at odds with Stark, Aunt May is apparently Dead, and Spidey was Unmasked. Peter Parker is hounded because folks no where he is, a logical choice would be to move where folks don't care about celebrities. The Parkers move to LA, MJ can act again and Spider-man can Join the Champions.

If they are based out of LA that is.

Maybe Squirrel Girl could even join...And Perhaps a new Grasshopper will join and Die in one issue,

Well in that picture I think you say Sentry, Strange and the Hulk among others. Do you really need anyone else besides those three?

Yes. When Thor returns he needs to join. Along with Hercules. And Silver Surfer... And don't forget Ghost Rider.

There you have it folks. Most overpowered team EVER. :wow: :woot:
