The Amazing Spider-Man The Chemistry & Romance Between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone!

That said, I agree her asking him to dinner didn't come out of nowhere. Peter was the first to attempt to ask her out on a date. They flirted a few times, and then...his Uncle died. She could see he was having a rough time and probably wasn't likely to ask her out now, so she decided to make it happen.
I like how Gwen blurts it out really fast, whereas Peter mumbles and stammers his way through it. It's like they're opposite ends of the spectrum. You see it again on the rooftop. Peter's struggling with every word, but Gwen's always at the ready with a response.

Why can't Gwen die in the 2nd film? They could have her in flashbacks in the 3rd film.

Yes, Gwen * could * appear in flashbacks in the third film if she was killed off in the second film, but there's absolutely no reason for the PTB to put themselves in the position of having to do flashbacks because they have absolutely no narrative imperative to kill off Gwen in the second film when the story would be served just as well if she died in the third.

Why create additional work for yourselves (in terms of creating flashbacks for Gwen) when you don't have to?

I don't want Gwen to die in the second movie because I want GG to be the one to off her (hopefully he wont sleep her first) and Idon't want to see GG in the second movie.

Yeah, it gives their relationship a good balance, imo.

Best part of the movie. I may complain about different aspects, but they were great! I also like how her Gwen was more Ultimate MJ, as I think it really works in the post-2000 modern setting for a teenager to use his powers to show off and get the girl and her to be his confidant (very high school romance in that they share a secret and it's them vs. the world).

Best in a superhero movie ever? Hard to say. I thought Keaton and Pffeifer in Batman Returns were electric. Downey and Paltrow are also great. Even, Maguire and Dunst had a ton of chemistry in the first Spidey movie, but after they broke up it was gone in the sequels.

Their performances and chemistry together are really one of the large factors on why this film worked so well.

Absolutely. It was a plausible teenage romance. She's probably going to die but I don't think he'll move onto MJ in this trilogy. Unless it's implied at the end of the third film.

are they dating in real life? IA, they had AMAZING chemistry. More so than I ever saw between McGuire and Dunst

Happened to Maguire and Dunst and we all saw how Maguire came game for SM2. And Dunst gave it......eh, yeah.

Oh well, Stone's the better actress, she can fake the energy better. ;)

Just saying.

Seemed to me that Maguire and Dunst just had a really short fling, which would have never even gone past the "rumor" status if it weren't for a comment from Raimi about it at one point. Garfield and Stone have been in what appears to be a pretty serious relationship for almost a year-and-a-half now. Which means...it'll be much worse if they break up, lol.

...I know it's unlikely, but what if they stay together in real life?

Well, I meant the marry kind of stay together.

But there's always the possibility of divorce.

Imagine if they did though, had kids, and one of those kids became Spider-Man in a future reboot? :P

Bold parts are my thoughts exactly! Works really well and elevates her from "random pretty girl main character is pining over" to an actual asset for him. Much more worthwhile function in the film and makes her harder to replace.

I thought Peter and Gwen's chemistry tip-toed on some Twilight territory, in my opinion. It's not as bad as Twilight, but a lot of their exchanges reminded me of it a little bit. I honestly felt their chemistry was WAY too awkward, but not in a "believable teenage love" way ... It's more along the lines of "the movie is trying too hard to build something out of nothing" way. Something I, yet again, blame the script on. People can only do so much with it ...

I cringed at the part when Peter asked Gwen out, yet a lot of people praise that scene ... So I must have been watching a different movie, or something.

Maybe my expectations were too high because I love (500) Days of Summer, and I love Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone ... But I wasn't sold on Peter and Gwen, sadly.

Well I mean, wasn't Ultimate MJ pretty much 616 Gwen? I get what you mean, though. I loved that aspect of Emma's portrayal.

guess it would make it easier to kill Gwen off then

I disagree. Kirsten simply had issues with the movies. She was getting tired of being kidnapped and screaming all the time. Which is a valid point. MJ was never expanded much after the first film. What I love about Gwen in this film is that she's never a victim. It's a great improvement in my opinion.

MJ.. ah MJ.. the girl I had was in love with before I even liked girls.

Oh, no! Snobby comments! My one weakness! :cwink:

Why bother with flashbacks if the plan is to keep the movie and characters moving forward. This isn't the Raimi movies where flashbacks were used all the time, especially in the 3rd movie. Also, Stone said that her hair will be naturally blond for the spidey movies, all 3 of them. If she was cameoing for the 3rd she'd just wear a wig...I bring this up because a big deal was made about he'd hair. People need to get it throug their skulls, Gwen will not die in ASM2.
