Alright folks, after seeing the devastation and destruction that these two different races brought about within The Avengers and Thor: The Dark World respectively, which group of invaders is you favorite?

Who do you feel is the more dominant and threatening force within the cosmic side of the MCU?

I'm going Dark Elves, but in at the time of the New York attack Chitauri would overwhelm them with numbers.

Why not Chitauri Vs Dark Elves Vs Frost Giants ?

Dark Elves for me. Black hole grenades and Kursed soldiers would wreck the Chitauri. And the frost giants too, if they ever fought.

Dark Elves for me. They seemed to be more menacing and intelligent as the Chitauri. As said before the Chitauri were rather cannon fodder.

The Chitauri were not only cannon fodder, but they also had the Worst Achilles Heel In the Universe: blow up the mother ship, and the entire fleet and footsoldiers die instantly, too. That's, like, a major design flaw. If I was Loki, I'd demand a refund from Thanos.

That being said, the Dark Elves weren't particularly interesting, either. Their singularity grenades were cool, and Malekith was an extremely powerful dude for all of five minutes in the movie; but in the end, he turned out to be little more than another Parallax from Green Lantern.

Dark Elves were far better designed and far more intimidating. Plus, their language sounded awesome.

Sadly, they had about as much depth as the Chitauri which is to say none at all.

I have a theory as to why the Chitauri were like that. I think they're all re-animated dead aliens anyway. I mean just look at them, they look like corpses. And they work for Thanos and we all know about his relationship with death.

And honestly I gotta say that I see a little resemblance to Beta Ray Bill's alien race in how the Chitauri-faces look. Maybe they're all Korbinites. Maybe Thanos killed their whole race and brought them back through his alien science as his slave army. Just a thought.

Dunno if it has to be specifically Korbinites, though, but alien undead = win.

If it was Korbinites, though, Beta Ray Bill would become a more single-minded Thanos-hunter than Drax or even Adam Warlock.

I'd go with the Chitauri. They were NEVER advertised as being the main villains, Whedon even said repeatedly that they were merely "Loki's army" and yet they still came across as more threatening than the Dark Elves, who WERE supposed to be the main villains.

Pound for pound, the Dark Elves are way more powerful. Personal weapons that can kill Asgardians easily, ships that can cloak really damn good, and seem durable enough to require major artillery level firepower to take down, the ability to create Kursed. . . nothing the Chitauri have can really match that. They need ship-level resources ( Leviathans ) to match up with Dark Elf enhanced infantry ( Kursed ).

However, all else is not equal. The Dark Elves present in Thor 2, versus the whole Chitauri invasion force from Avengers? I think the Chitauri would win, on vastly superior numbers.

Both were pure cannon fodder, but at least The Chitauri had a decent leader behind them. Power wise its easily the Dark Elves, they disabled Asgard, were as The Chitauri couldnt even disable New York.

Visually, the Chitauri looks more interesting and I feel there's more detail to their whole look. But I really like the Dark Elves' space ships.

Watching a whole pack of Dark Elves chasing those two (plus Selvig) was just embarrassing.

I voted neither, but the Dark Elves were better and somewhat more interesting than what was in the Avengers. Those were like battle droids in Star Wars.

I prefer the Chitauri as a whole, but the Dark Elves take it for their gernades and their Kursed. The Kursed are insane and much better then anything the Chitauri could produce, including space whales.

They only survived because of the story, everything else we've seen from the Dark Elves suggests that it was a low showing.
