The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

Yeah, anyone going into the movie biz and into blockbuster status definitely knows the status-raising circumstances. I'd say Bale (at least now) does seek the fame, but for projects that are also associated with depth and integrity. That's a very clear difference than just wanting to keep your name in the spotlight.

Too bad. Hope Wally never gets in Bale's eyeline in the next Batman movie.
Wally's usually handling the camera himself, so it shouldn't be a problem. :oldrazz: Plus Nolan runs his shoots with a great deal of control.

What does it say about me that the first thought that popped into my mind when I found out about this was, "Why isn't the DP sitting with the director and looking at the monitor?" :oldrazz:

nah, america is heading down a dark path when it treats celebrities as gods....

i mean, it was funny as heck...but..really? who cares?

I've come across people who are like, "Oh no he can't be my favorite actor anymore!" and I'm like, "How old are you? 14?"

You can still enjoy the guy's work, and it isn't like he's publicly or financially endorsing daily tirades against your coworkers. :oldrazz:

haha, its just how people base their personal image/ideas around a celebrity, its bad

I loved Christian's rant...using the f-word 35 times in 4 minutes!? That's MY kinda man! It's nice that's he's so passionate during a scene, even on a popcorn movie like Terminator Salvation to get THAT worked up!

Reminds me of when I was younger and I was a HUGE Britney Spears fan and she had a similar rant at the Rock in Rio concert which was captured in audio and played EVERYWHERE for weeks and weeks! Everyone was like, "OMG! Her career is OVER!"

Um...no! I loved her more for it.

How dare you call Terminator Salvation a popcorn movie!
In that case Blade Runner and Fifth Element are also popcorn movies...

Nah, I don't care if Bale is an unstable psycho off-screen(which he's not). All I care is that when I pay to see his movie, the man delivers. And more often than not he does. At least the guy takes his craft seriously. The man makes millions but at least he doesn't take it for granted. But it makes me sad that the Salvation crew is obviously full of wimps with no balls whatsoever. This is not very promising when it comes to the movie itself.

Well Bale did tell the director McG to F*** off when he asked him to be in the movie. McG had to convince Bale the movie would have some drama and not just explosions before he would do it.

But McG himself admitted that he has not made any good movies and is now trying improve his status.
Bale respects him now. Even when he was ranting, he did not show anger towards McG though he could have blamed him for the DP's actions as he is supposed to be head honcho on the set

Terminator 3 soured everyone's taste....

Sorry! *runs and hides*

I didn't mean "popcorn movie" in the derogatory sense, it's just the name I attach to big, box-office smashing, money making action flicks...it's not a bad thing! I wouldn't call Blade Runner or Fifth Element popcorn flicks, Blade runner is a work of art and Fifth Element is a crazy, futuristic experience.

I'm sure, once I've seen Terminator, I will be able to catagorise it a little better...right now, it just seems like a another spin-off from a popular franchise...the concept isn't original (unlike Blade Runner and Fifth Element) and I do doubt that it will bring anything new visually or acting wise.

I may be wrong though!

Yes, that's right. He just does movies like Reign of Fire, Batman, Terminator and considered being James Bond at one point because of the richness of the material and its depth of complexity and not because he wants to be a movie star. I mean he is one of the best actors of his generation and his Batman films are exceptional, but they were all career choices attempting to make himself a star. I'd say he is interested in fame, at least a little bit.

According to Bale he takes those roles so he can afford to take on smaller time rolls such as The Machinist but have the money to support his family

How dare you compare the unseen, unreleased Terminator Salvation to Blade Runner! And how dare you put Blade Runner and The Fifth Element on the same sentence! :o

For me there's two types of actors: those who desire success and those who want fame (media atention, popularity). I've always seen Bale among the ones who want to be successful, but doesnt like the 'celebrity' aspect of it. Keep in mind he didnt even want to make Terminator Salvation unless there was substance behind it, not just explosions. If he just wanted fame, i doubt he would have taken so long to agree to do it, and just jumped into it the second it was offered. Just my opinion :cwink:

I Am The Knight: here, here!

Anyone else get a BDSM-vibe from this? I can't be the only one. :O :funny:

Well he's well established now. At this point he can afford to take on any role he wants if he keeps at this pace.

Well Rise of the Machines was nothing but a big dumb popcorn movie. First two Terminator movies were able to incorporate both brawl and brains. But obviously not every Terminator movie is capable of doing the same thing. I hope Salvation harks back to the original more than RotM. That genuine futuristic menace.

This is all a bunch of crap. There isnt a single person reading my words right now who HASN'T gone off in anger at someone, be it a loved one, a co-worker, or a complete stranger at some point in their lives.

Anyone saying something to the contrary, i have no problem calling a liar.

Bale is a human being, just like the rest of us. Does that excuse his behavior?

No.

But he shouldnt be held to a higher standard than anyone else just because he plays Batman on the big screen.

Just my opinion.

^Agreed. But there's a difference between going off and cursing and threatening for four minutes.

I know someone who does that. She's a great person, it's just when you get her mad she will go off, BIG TIME, and much longer than four minutes, more like 20. Doesn't make you a jerk or a scumbag, just means you have a bad temper.

OMG, has anyone heard the "Christian Bale Rant Remix"? It's genius...think Bale is now gonna be considered the biggest badass actor/rapper there is lol.

I would post a link to it but don't think we're allowed are we? Should be easy to find on youtube using a variation on "Christian Bale/Rant/Remix".

It's brilliant.

Nothing sexier than a woman who gets mad big time. That primitive anger really gets me going. Everytime my ex lost her cool, I just had to have her right there on the spot. :woot:
