The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

i bet mommy and sissy wanted a cut of his big earnings- you know- for being so supportive of him all the way from the UK. he probably told them to go pound sand and then they made up some story about him to the cops.

money is the root of all evil!!!

That's really reaching for it considering we knw nothing of what actually happened. Bale may have well assaulted his mother and sister.

It's also unsure if he'll be able to take part in any more of the publicity tour depending upon his bail conditions.

I think all this could be blown out of proportion....furthermore, I don't think we have any business trying to dissect this guy's personal life like this. Yeah, it's news, therefore it's public...but it's still kinda messed up that now this thread is probably only going to be about whether or not Christian Bale did something wrong

i agree 100%- i was reaching and was totally over-dramatic, but that kind of stuff does happen all the time with rich folks, maybe not this time though. Relatives can get extremely greedy when a close relative comes into a large pot of money- look at the stories of folks who win the lottery and how their lives spiral out of control. For his mom and sister to run to the police and report that he assulted them on the biggest day of his career- that is just so bizarre....

Released until September whilst investigations carried out.

i don't know how laws work in the UK but here in the US when your released on bond or bail it means you have been charged with a crime.

Bales been a child actor I don't think now his a 34 year old man with a wife and kids they are gonna say give us some cash.

Anyway he has two other sisters and I wonder what they have got to say about this. It seems Bale was perhaps closer to his dad and step-mom since living in america

Keyword is assault. This is a threat not physical contact. Do you guys find it that hard to believe that Bale would not have threatened his family? C'mon people watch him in interviews. The guy rarely cracks a smile and seems so wound up. Watch the Today Show interview with Lauer. I don't think Bale would hit his mother and sister but I have no doubt he'd yell and threaten them. Who hasn't done that at some point? Its not that big a deal. They are just blowing it out of proportion and these stupid news programs are making it out like he beat them. I doubt his family is after money. The more likely scenario is that he was frustrated and just blew a gasket but his family overreacted.

Well, got this from IMDB who got it from Just Jared:

His mom and sister are alcoholics and drug addicts, they showed up at his hotel uninvited and highly intoxicated. they were calling him big shot and that he needs to take care of his own. His mom was yelling that he would be nothing without her and he owed her. His sister was begging for money and when he was pushing her toward the door his mother came from behind and started hitting him on his head and kicking him. He managed to push them both out the door and his mom fell, they called the police and wanted him arrested. I believe that Chirstian is the victim here not his mom or sister

My father works security at the hotel, and he said it was a mess. His mom and sister wanted the front desk worker to let them into his room to wait for him. When they were told no they started cussing and yelling. they sat in front of his door for an hour until he finally arrived.

Let's not forget that Bale is trained in martial arts. When someone is under an enormous amount of stress (such as the premiere of a blockbuster film) and capable of causing extreme pain, it's very easy to snap in a violent manner.

It is a policy in England to arrest a suspect before questioning him in connection to a possible crime. Bale has not been formally charged, therefore the police did not release his name.

Bale is on Police Bail where a suspect is released without being charged but must return to the police station at a given time. Police bail is the release of a person, who has not been charged.

if thats true- then i feel really bad for the guy.

where is alfred with "endure" speech to Bale!

I don't give a **** what happens in his personal life. It's none of our business. All I care about is him being good in his movies. People need to mind their own damn business. He seemed a little stand-offish in his interviews because he was sick of being asked if Heath's death was related to the role. I saw most of his interviews, and you could see when it came to that question he was sick of answering the gossip questions.

For those that are curious, in the US, one is formally charged with a crime before he/she is given the option of bail.

"A Metropolitan Police spokesperson tells E! News that Bale presently faces "no charges, all we are saying at the moment is that a 34-year-old male attended a central London police station this morning, by appointment, and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault."

I think people should remember that whenever an assault allegation is made, the police tend to take it seriously regardless of what the real situation is.

....Are you serious?

I have a some good friends who are red/black belts in tae kwon do, and they are the chillest, nicest people. Being violent has NOTHING to do with having martial arts training. In fact, being trained in martial arts should mean that you are LESS likely to use physical violence unless you have to.

I am actually kind of offended by your ignorant comment.

Thank you for the explanation.

Anita, I'm not saying all martial artists are violent people. I'm saying that when one is under an extreme amount of stress, he's capable of pretty bad things. I'm not saying he definitely did it.

Agreed. His training has no connection to him snapping in a violent manner. Someone trained in martial arts tends to have more control over their actions compared to the average person off the street.
