The Dark Knight The Christian Bale/Bruce Wayne thread

But c'mon, that doesn't excuse Bale's unprofessional behavior. I read Harry's article, I understand all of that, he was way out of line. Can you see anyone else going off saying, "I'M GONNA KICK YOU ASS!" and the crew had to settle him down and he does on for three minutes? Yeah, the DP did screw up, but why the hell are people defending Bale?

I don't blame McG, I don't think he wanted to interfere, that would of made Bale worse and let it play out so Bale wouldn't actually walk off the set.

Though I did laugh at Bale roaring when he says, "McG, Did you see what this prick did?!" And then McG softly and so laid back and cool like from the background says, "I don't know I didn't see it." :lmao:
No, that doesn't excuse it. But it certainly explains it. We're talking about a guy who ate a snake and lost 68 lbs in the name of acting. :oldrazz:

We'll have to see if this negatively affects Bale's hireability in any way. This isn't like Lindsay Lohan's situation, where she partied all night and simply wouldn't show up to the set, claiming she was sick. THAT is an insurance company's nightmare, not someone threatening to walk off a set.

Christian's apparently done this before, so I wouldn't be surprised if people have learned to simply get out of his way. It isn't like he's easily replaceable. You hire Christian Bale because he takes his acting seriously and he's good at it, but you also have to take the lumps that comes with hiring him.

I don't blame McG for not doing anything while Bale was in the middle his tantrum, but he could have gotten his set completely locked down.

I have laughed so much at this, but I think now I'll just walk away Aaaah-tadah-tadah like this! in the background! :joker:

I laughed at McG too. But I think McG should have said something instead of punking out. He should have stepped in & given a warning to the DP. He's the director and it falls on him to control the set. Even if he didn't see the DP doing his "tadahhh tadahhh", the fact is that the DP is on the set and shouldn't be during filming. His being a punk made Bale even angrier.

My fav line was "I was looking at the lights".

The point is what was the real reason why he was mad that day? I mean, you had a bad day or situation, that's all, and it's easier to take first person and blaming him or her for a bad situation...

I mean, that recording is 6 mounts old... why reveling it now?

Agreed.

I actually just liestened to the udio twice now. I can see where Bale is coming from more. Bale mentions that this was the second time this happened that he "didn't give a **** of what was happening in front of the camera." It wasn't just a rant, it was Bale sick of what the DP was doing. He was having a bad day, this happens, after he warned trhe DP, the DP still screwed up, etc, Bale should have gotten mad. Where you know he went overboard is like 2 mintues in when he request for Tom todo wardrobe, he just continues on.

I love Bale as an actor and he's a great person, but as long as he apologized than it's fine.

It shows how much of a great actor he truly is though getting that much in a scene, but that's beside the point.

Could someone PLEASE make me the following avvy? My program ran out, and I REALLY want this one.

I'd also like some mean looking pics of Bale intercut with the words. I know this might not be the best place to ask, but I'd love to have this avvy.

BTW, I still love Christian Bale, in a non gay way.

I just lost any respect I had for him. Seriously, I don't care how bad of a day he had, I don't care how deep he was in this role, he was the only disgrace there. I get that some people just blow up when they have a bad day but that is sheer stupidity. A five minute rant for goodness sake, what a jerk. The only amateur is him if he loses it like that, threatening people for being in his mere line of sight. Anyone who loses it like that really needs to step off his pedestal.

I don't think we have a right to judge, because we have no idea what he was going through in his life. Sure, he lost his temper and said things he probably shouldn't have, but he's only human. Everybody's lost it, or will, at some point in their life. And just because he is famous its a big deal. I blew up on my friend who said the wrong thing at the wrong time this summer, and we talked it out later, life goes on. And I'm sure if we saw everything that happened on the set of some movies, we would think a lot of different things about a lot of different people.

A quick reminder to everyone. The F word is NOT allowed on this site....So, if you post a link to Bales rant, or quote the post where someone posted the link, or decide to print it out word for word....despite the sticky telling you not to or just the fact that you all should know by now that such stuff isn't allowed....you will be on probation for a few days.

McG's sets are notorious for being unorganized and chaotic. Apparently, Bill Murray hated being on set during the Charlie Angels flick. I'm sure Murray had some interesting "discussions" on set. Too bad we can't hear them. As for Bale: did he overreact? Yes, definitely, but just talked to the boyfriend who works in sound and he thought it was no big frigging deal. He was actually more shocked that the DP was wandering in Bale's sight lines during a scene. He said even the lowliest PA's know not to do that. If it's true that the DP was doing it again and again despite being told not to, then Bale's outburst is understandable. Not excusable perhaps, but understandable.

:) I MADE THAT hahah WEEEEEE!!!!!

LOL good job!

Why AICN Doesn't Post Links To Stories Like This Christian Bale thing that's everywhere!

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm getting slammed with assloads of people angry at me for not posting the Bale explosion from the set of McG's TERMINATOR: SALVATION. Well, first off - there's a real simple reason. It isn't news. And it certainly isn't cool news. It is a moment in a man's life taken completely out of context and most likely leaked to personally embarrass Christian Bale. Now, I know what a lot of you are thinking... There's no excuse for a temper tantrum like that to ever occur and if you are going to act that way, you deserve to be embarrassed by your own actions.

Except, you want to hear the REALITY behind that clip?
I know this because I happen to be somewhere where someone that was there that day and for the shoot is. And this person isn't a publicist, nor are they invested in Bale's career. They're just someone that thinks it is absolute bullshi* that this moment in Bale's life is being aired and that the real story should get out there.

The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.

The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shi* down before the scene starts.

Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.

Now, the reason I know all of this is because the person that was there, felt that it should be made perfectly clear that Christian Bale was the utmost gentleman and cool guy on set. And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do. Not during a performance.

You don't need me to give you a link, it's all over the internet, I just felt that you should know what really went down - and that this particular outburst did indeed modify the DP's behavior - and for future DPs. poo poo with the lights before and after your actors are acting. Not during.

its good you posted this, that rant link is everywhere, and try as we might to dismiss it, its gonna be the talk of the week. it just hit the major entertainment outlets now. the least that could be done is to give a bit more insight as to what led to this.

Did he touch you in your sleep? Did he rape your dog?

Get over yourself.

I agree. People are acting like Bale has wounded them personally because he yelled at a man whose existence they weren't even aware of last week. Yeah, his behavior wasn't appropriate, but people are acting like he's committed acts of genocide or something. It's ridiculous.

Apparently the were working on the most emotional scene in the entire movie, so Bale's emotions were probably already on end, and I understand it would be really distracting when you are trying to do a scene like that, trying to be in character and do it right, and someone keeps walking around in your line of sight. He's only human. I personally don't think its that big of a deal.

The remix has gone nuclear. It's around 500,000 views on YouTube already in roughly 24 hours. LOL.

Seriously? :whatever:

First of all, it wasn't five minutes--check your watch.

Secondly, grab some perspective. He's a human. He flung some curse words at someone, who by all accounts of those in the industry, screwed up. It was six months ago and the men still are working together (on reshoots) so if they've moved past it, I have to ask why you, a stranger to both of them, clearly can't?

If you've never lost your cool and gotten into a fight with someone, please tell me where you live because I'd like to have the directions to Fantasy Land.

you know if they play their cards right, this whole Bale Ballistic recording and Bale Out Remix could just be the perfect viral marketing :hoboj:

I don't think there's any coincidence behind the fact that this incident happened 7 months ago but the clip gets "leaked" just a couple months before Terminator comes out. WB leaked it on purpose to create hype. But you are right, the remix might help create even more hype. Even as much as people may be disgusted by his comments, the remix is completely hilarious.
