The Clinton Thread II - Part 2

Feel free to correct me, but I am under the impression NY is prosecuting and not the DOJ? That's why the NY FBI had the info for weeks?

No?

It hasn't moved that far yet. Both state and federal agencies are investigating Weiner, which is where they found the e-mails. No charges have been officially brought up yet.

It isn't exactly shocking that they go the warrant. This is essentially, "Hey, can we check these out to see if they are applicable to our own investigation".

Precisely, just because one area of law enforcement is investigating something does not give all branches of the justice dept. the ability to look at anything related to that investigation. Not surprised they got the warrant either but considering they didn't have a warrant in the first place it makes Comey's letter all the more perplexing.

I mean, it was a pretty foregone conclusion for them to get the warrant.

Americans need to get used to the fact that the rule of law is much more of a guideline where high level politics are concerned. And when you've got people as unscrupulous as their current crop of politicians running around whatever the technical rules are don't really matter. This is beyond bipartisan politics now, this is each party vying to control and manipulate what are supposed to be sovereign and independent institutions.

I don't think anyone is criticizing Comey for going for those e-mails. It's more about his letter to Congress.

I haven't read the letter but from what I'm picking up Comey is between a rock and a hard place, he appears to want to follow due process but is also under pressure from different individuals to make a decision most profitable for their political outcomes?

The best interpretation of his actions is that he sent out the letter to keep the Republican from hounding him. Which can definitely be a fair reading of the action, given how much time Republicans have spent on hearings about Benghazi.

That seems likely, yeah. He comes across as a kid from a broken home that's carrying passive aggressive messages between parents. No matter what he does he's going to piss one side off and it's almost impossible for him to do his job dispassionately given the politically charged climate in the country.

In the original email debacle Hillary and Huma, both under oath, and penalty of purjury, said no other devices had classified materials. They had turned over all such devices. And Weiner has no classified access by the State Department.

They both lied about turning over everything. That alone should be enough to arrest them for perjury.

You are jumping to quite a few conclusions. They haven't really looked at those e-mails yet.

You're right.

If there is any classified info, that is a separate offense.

They did under penalty of perjury, said they turned over all devices they had in possession/access. In the original investigation.

Who knows, maybe Hillary can throw Huma under the bus.

I'd sooner take President Kaine over President Trump.

Next week isn't going to get better. The video of her campaign (or her, I dunno which) making disparaging remarks towards blacks is coming out. Then wikileaks finally releases the most incriminating batch, in the literal sense.

Just like that video of Michelle Obama saying whitey during the 2008 election right?

Haha a black person saying whitey and a white person disparaging black Americans are contextually nothing alike.

You really have no idea as to what the hell you're even talking about do you? Try not to get your news from alt-right websites and maybe you can get a little closer to the facts. These are all emails that were on Weiner's device, not hidden devices. Of those emails, none came directly from Hillary's private server. These are most likely exchanges between Huma and Weiner discussing various things. Whether any of what the discussed was classified or is some type of smoking gun for Hillary and camp covering things up is unknown at this point but Hillary and the Dems wouldn't be pressing Comey and the FBI so hard if that were the case.

Top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin has told people she is unsure how her emails could have ended up on a device she viewed as her husband’s computer, the seizure of which has reignited the Clinton email investigation, according to a person familiar with the investigation and civil litigation over the matter.

The person, who would not discuss the case unless granted anonymity, said Abedin was not a regular user of the computer, and even when she agreed to turn over emails to the State Department for federal records purposes, her lawyers did not search it for materials, not believing any of her messages to be there.

That could be a significant oversight if Abedin’s work messages were indeed on the computer of her estranged husband
, former congressman Anthony Weiner, who is under investigation for allegedly exchanging lewd messages with a 15-year-old girl. So far, it is unclear what — if any — new, work-related messages were found by authorities. The person said the FBI had not contacted Abedin about its latest discovery, and she was unsure what the bureau had discovered.
It doesn't even have to be classified for charges to be laid. The fact there were any work emails is enough, that is my point. If there was classified stuff, it would stack on top of that.

I have a feeling Hillary is going to throw her under the bus.

That is still no proof of any wrongdoing on Hillary's part. There are any number of ways that emails could've ended up on the device with or without Huma lying about it. Which, again, DOES NOT IMPLICATE HILLARY. If Hillary and company were in any way worried about these emails they wouldn't be hounding the FBI to release a statement regarding what they found or how it relates to Hillary. The damn case hasn't even been re-opened as every news outlet reported.

This whole thing reeks of suspiciousness, laziness, and agenda. No one has bothered to do research or probably even read Comey's letter, or to understand the facts. How can a case even be reopened if there was no warrant to get those emails in the first place? All I'm hearing is people baselessly saying "Oooooh Hillary MUST be guilty, otherwise Comey would do this or that," without any proof, facts, or official word from the FBI. Comey's not stupid. He knows exactly what that letter is gonna do in these last 10 days before election. To say otherwise is just being obtuse.
