Yes, but we're straying from the discussion. You said about signature stuff by him. And I merely said that body shape and staying on character while off set are not really signature traits of CB.
At least from what I've seen.

I believe they are. I've read hundreds of articles and interviews about him, going back to the begining of his acting career. He was well known for being obsessive before any of the body-change things caught peoples attention. He tends to let a part take over his life. His friends and family even get fed up with him when he's playing @$$holes because he acts differently around everyone. He'll stay in character for months. He'll speak in weird accents to everyone for months, his wife is used to it he said. He'll do everything the character does just to nail the part. I think that may be changing as of very recently because of his baby daughter - he didn't want to freak her out. He said he may have to find a way to approach acting differently so she doesn't get confused about what her daddy is like.

I hope his new attitude/outlook doesn't change the quality of his performances.

I can't really tell what he says. Wierd though that Christian is slipping in an out of his accent while talking to Roker. All through BB he did all the interviews in an American accent and made a big deal about it because Batman is an American icon. I hope this doesn't mean he's not trying as hard and going to give us a "mailed in" performance.

I was worried enough that he didn't gain any muscle for TDK. =(

Only brought it up because CB himself made a big deal out of it with BB. He stayed "in-accent" for over a year, even in private, because he didn't want journalists to be freaked out that "Batman-guy" was talking like brit.

So thats why I wonder about the level of concentration and/or commitment this time around. He doesn't seem as OCD... not that an actor has to be as OCD as CB in order to be good, but if thats his TYPICAL style, I don't expect less than that. If that makes sense.
I don't think he ever made a huge deal out of it - he just explained it for people who asked. I mean, if you do a little research it's pretty obvious he's not American, so why doesn't he have a British accent? Etc etc...

And IIRC, his impromptu accent-changing wasn't all that spot-on. At least I could tell he wasn't American when he gave interviews. He was trying to stay in the mindset, but he didn't pass himself off as fully American when he spoke off-set. So it isn't all that concerning to me.

Besides, this is Christian Bale we're talking about. Soon before TDK, he did Rescue Dawn where he had to drop weight again and eat a snake. Eat. A. Snake. All directors should be so lucky to have someone who's that dedicated to begin with.

I don't think he would (nor should he) have to go through the weight change he did between The Machinist and BB. It would be harmful to his health, no doubt, and he'll probably schedule projects where he wouldn't have to do it so quickly from here on in.

I'm confident that there is a reason as to why he's skinnier in TDK than BB. He's not all that skinnier, maaaybe 10lbs. And you don't have to be huge to be cut. In American Psycho, he wasn't huge (dare I say he looked to be about the same size as in TDK) but he had muscle definition galore. For BB he had to get the weight back however he could, so he stuffed himself, ended up looking like a grizzly bear, then had to work out again to slim down. I remember an interview for BB with Linda Hemming (I think on the official site?) that mentioned how Christian gave the wardrobe people fits because he would get smaller every week and they would have to take the waist in on his costumes every time.

So, relaaaaax. Everything's fine. :yay:

Oh, and if you want hardcore method acting, check out Daniel Day-Lewis. For My Left Foot, where he plays a guy in a wheelchair, he absolutely refused to get out of the chair even when they weren't filming. The crew had to carry him in the chair over wires and stuff on set.

You've got to respect that kind of commitment, although it might have been a bit scary if he did same with his Gangs of New York character... who'd want that madman around on set?

He did do the same for Gangs of New York. He was always in character. I remember hearing about it, cause it really freaked the cast and crew out a bit.

Daniel Day Lewis: one of the best actors of all time.

Wonder what kind of Batman/Bruce Wayne he would have made?

Doesn't look the part.

You know, I like the acting crazies to a point. I mean when you hear about stories like that sometimes you just wanna slap 'em and say... "Try...ACTING - - (not becoming!) it's easier!" Lol.

(That's a famous reference btw to those who don't know and might jump all over me now)

For Born on the Fourth of July, Tom Cruise apparently wanted to take a drug, or have some sort of treatment, that would temporarily paralyse him, but insurance wouldn't cover it.
Nutjob.

I've got better reasons to call him a lunatic... and it's not because of his acting... lol. You guys gotta see that leaked scientology video. WACK-JOB.

nah I was talking about medication like that. Aren't they all natural or whatever?

I believe you are confusing Church of Scientists and Scientologists. Scientologists are a cult that are against psychology, the establishment, everyone not in their cult, and who believe that we have pieces of dead space aliens in our system to cause bad things to happen. They must pay large amounts of money to have this "wisdom" revealed to them piece by piece.

The Church of Scientists believe in the healing power of God / prayer and will not get any sort of medical treatment.

It confused me for a while when I was younger so I researched it. :oldrazz:

No I don't have em confused cause i just researched it also

In public statements, especially to newcomers, Scientology claims that medical drugs are fine and says there's no problem with Scientologists taking drugs prescribed by a physician.
However, in materials presented by Scientology front group Narconon, they claim that all drugs are poisonous and remain in the body permanently - claims that are thoroughly discredited by modern science.
Psychiatric drugs are seen differently: Scientology forbids the use of all psychiatric drugs, and works to prevent non-Scientologists from using them as well. Scientologists are vehemently opposed to all forms of psychiatry - not just for themselves, but for everyone.
Although Scientology publicly states that they don't interfere with individual Scientologists taking prescribed medication, several former members have reported being told to stop taking prescription drugs and suffering negative consequences if they went ahead and kept taking them. Since these drugs were prescribed for serious medical conditions, including epilepsy and Grave's disease, these individuals were at serious risk if they stopped taking the medication.
Finally, Scientology claims that taking aspirin interferes with forming mental images, so participants are forbidden from getting auditing for 24 hours after taking aspirin.

I got bored...saw your posts on Joker Cruise and started to manip.

I bet he was mad he wasn't able to play harvey dent and told katie to gtfo

I'm sure he'd be behind the scenes trying to convert Batman to Scientology. Cruise is just...washed out, I can say that I haven't enjoyed a film from him in years. His last film that I actually liked was "The Firm"

I liked Last Samurai and I think he is a good actor but he shouldn't think on his own. He needs a parent.

He has to be roped in, he is a loose cannon running around Hollywood. Him and his religion, remind me of Catholics and the Mafia. Last Samurai just pissed me off. I lived in Japan for 6 years, and his phoenetics were way off and it was grating to my ears.

Well then. They're even freakier than I suspected, and that's HARD.
