Only reason I know the character is from when this movie was previously rumored. Her entire character is apparently
"there's a new mysterious superhero around who looks and talks exactly like MJ and has a superhero name taken from MJ's most famous line. Can you guess who it is? It's a big mystery! You think it's MJ? Ha, wrong!! It's an entirely new character you've never seen before! Had you fooled didn't we? So anyway, the gimmick is gone now, so let's never mention her again."

So is there a Zendaya lookalike actress? Or will Sony cast Zendaya and just roll the clone saga into it too?

I just did a check. Her only story had her get temporary superpowers from getting high on MGH and then dying in battle from being dosed with another chemical that caused a lethal drug interaction. Not sure they'd want to associate Mary Jane with that story.

I'm not sure they could. I imagine their contract with Marvel would prevent them from creating a competing Spider-Man franchise of their own. But yeah, I'd take Black Cat, Silver Sable, Prowler and even Cardiac, Rocket Racer, Puma and Solo over Jackpot.

I'd have less of an issue with Jackpot getting a film if she wasn't a character introduced in Brand New Day.

But hey, if former C-listers, as far as the general audience is concerned, like Ant-Man or Shazam or the Guardians of the Galaxy of all characters can resonate to people through a film, then at this point, anything is possible.

So long as Sony and Disney have a contract to jointly make films, Sony is at no risk of the rights reverting. As silly as it sounds, this Jackpot movie is being made to make money, not to extend the license.

It's odd that Sony wants to build a film around a character with so little material to mine from. What happened to the Black Cat spinoff? I could see that being a tight little heist film

I know I may be late for the train but just watched Morbius' trailer today and realised that Vulture made a cameo at the end. So does this mean that Venom, Morbius is in MCU or somehow connected to Holland's Spider-Man ?

Yea.... or atleast they are trying to connect it to get people to watch there movies. It’s the reason venom was such a huge hit. People thought it was an mcu movie cause of his connection to spiderman. Also he has name recognition

I have no problems, if the sharing agreement means, that Tom Hardy as Venom and Jared Leto as Morbius will show up in different MCU movies, when it makes sense - as long as it‘s not a forced Sony strategy and not delay plans in developing other MCU movies.
Sony had gather around a nice cast with Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, Woody Harrelson and reportedly Alicia Vikander (Spider Woman) and Charlize Theron (Madame Web).

The Norton Hulk also fell from a great height and survived cuz of the transformation. Ditto Ruffalo, also befor TR.
