I figured he did it to avoid a police brutality charge, but I'm just guessing. Welcome to the Hype. :woot:

Aww, thank you for the welcome!! Are you a fellow gal fan too?? :woot: Yay!! I was thinking it might have been something along those lines, but I'm not too familiar with cop rules!! I reckoned Gordon was being fair as always!!

LOL, I'm the biggest fangirl that ever fangirled on here! :hehe:

I even won Batforums poster of the year. :o

And yeah, probably to give Joker somewhat of a level playing ground. When Bats throws him against the wall, the police look kind of nervous about it.

I would like see Anita's poster. :meanie:

Maybe Nolan doesn't know the Harvey Bullock character... but does anyone want to offer an assumption or thoughtful explanation as to why the big cop in TDK was NOT Harvey Bullock. Was he even given a name? (I have seen TDK like 7 times and have never caught his name).... I can understand Det. Ramirez NOT being Officer Montoya (from the comics) because she did end up being a dirty, traitorous cop.... so Nolan probably knew that was out of character for Montoya... but the big cop very much resembled Bullock, and with Batman on the run, framed for murder, now he will act even more like Bullock with his hatred of Batman fueled.

I think I will just always assume the big cop was Harvey Bullock.

If you mean the other dirty cop, is name was Wertz. It was mentioned quite a few times. If not, I'm not sure exactly you're talking about, could you be more specific?

There were a few characters in TDK that could've easily been from the comics... As you said Wertz could've been Bullock and Ramirez could've been Montoya (it wouldnt have bothered me if she took bribes in the Nolanverse) but i also felt Lau should've been The Calculator and Mike Engels role in the movie couldve been much more satisfying if they kept everything the same but changed his sex and name, calling him Vicky Vale...

I think he's talking about Lieutenant Stevens...the cop who's asked by Joker how many of his friends had been killed...not Wuertz.

Personally, I remember thinking the beat cop who was talking to Gordon at the docks in 'Begins' was pre-detective Bullock.

Maybe they'll bring Bullock into the story in the third film...

EDIT: Oh, and I'd love to see a nod to Merkel as well!!!
