Just a random thought whilst I was watching the movie...

Does it appear to any of you that Heath Ledger was not present with any of the other actors while doing the 'pencil trick' scene...?

It all seem staged and shot to accommodate his isolation... I dunno.

i watched this part many times and i am sure its the unscratched side. I suppose i am wrong though cause that wouldnt make any sense.

So any guesses if the bullet penetrated the armour or hit between the pads?

Well the scene is shot in the dark and it's pretty quick. Easy to mistake perhaps but it's definitely the darkened side.

And honestly, he's the ***damn Batman, so he'll always come right back up.

What do you mean? There's some neat camera work so that you don't actually SEE the pencil going into the goon's eye, but....anyway.

The first time I saw it, I thought it was the unscratched side too, but if you watch carefully, the coin is dirty. When he flips it for himself, it's very shiny.

No idea about exactly where the bullet hit, but it's a very good guess that Bats will have a nice fat bruise the following morning.

I think he meant "Did it seem like none of the actors were or even needed to be on set for filming that moment." Since you can't see any of the actors in that shot except the pencil victim, then Heath almost kind of poses for the camera.

Clearly they weren't needed on set if it was just the two of them, LOL. But I don't see what the big deal is about it. At that point, everyone was on the other side of the room because the Joker came in through another door.

... when joker is holding the detective hostage at the department, and suddenly the bomb goes off, i can buy how the explosion went up a couple levels, but how the hell did the joker survive that?

one second he's holding the man in front of the entire police force, and the next paper and smoke are flying everywhere around him, with everyone gone, and him standing alone with his head down.

If you look carefully you can see a filing cabinet directly behind Joker, its a little shorter than him so he must of crouched down when the bomb went off.

Hmm. Thats an interesting theory. But honestly i believe its more realistic that batman has a flying electric cape then that.

i really cant think of a good answer to this. maybe i should stop thinking about it, accept that its a comic-book movie. and do some homework.

Jonah Nolan mentionned the almost supernatural nature of TDK Joker, appearing out of thin air on the sidewalk in the beginning of the film, I believe this fantastic shot of the Joker head down with the debris flying around him after the explosion is a continuation of that idea. Just like him sticking his tongue out like a snake all the time(I suppose the most common representation of the devil). I think Nolan talked about this Joker being more like Loki the trickster, coyotes in native american legends etc... A great take on the character imo.

Actually I see the Joker appearing during the middle of the bank robbery. Like when his hair begins revealing its color, like whoever that guy was before is gone and the Joker took his place.

Did it go up a couple of levels? He was in the same room as the bomb, and the cops that had their guns pointed at him were closer to the holding cell, and he knew it was coming so that he could brace for impact.
