Historical references in TDK:

In BB, the scenes where Batman escapes from Arkham Asylum in the Tumbler is very reminiscent of the stolen tank incident in San Diego, California of 1995. Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msPrOIAVUZo Are there any scenes in TDK that were inspired by real life true events?

thats a Batman Begins reference not a TDK historical reference and it is not a historical reference either...I am glad you are still thinking though.

The stolen tank incident shows that Nolan's bat-films could happen in real life, given the proper ideal situations. Anyway, do you think TDK has any historical references? The skyhook scene in TDK is reminiscent of actual skyhook tests done by the CIA and U.S. military during the Cold War.

Bruce Wayne arriving at the fundraiser with 3 women is inspired by Frank Sinatra. I know that much.

What do you think about the stolen tank in san diego clip? The guy driving the tank was mentally ill, and Bruce Wayne is close to that.

Kind of a stretch, I mean it was just Batman being chased by the cops in a "black tank". I'm very familiar with that tank incident you posted already and it never popped into my head when I saw it. I don't think Nolan was aiming for that either, my opinion at least.

What are the chances NOW The Dark Knight getting a best picture nod and heath getting a supporting actor nod at the oscars?

IMO, high. Most of what people thought were gonna be oscar contenders actually have been turning out good but not great. Many critics have endorsed it, and many people do think it's the best film of 2008.

Wall-E the best film of 2008 my ass.

Prison life:

I was just watching a documentary on MSNBC about prison life, and it showed the scary and brutal world of jail. In TDK, when Bruce was willing to surrender himself to the police, did he know what he was going to send himself into? I mean, if he did admit to being Batman before Dent did, he would have been sent to prison where the inmates along with the guards would treat him horribly. Even with all of his ninja fighting skills he would still have no chance against all of the prison inmates. How does Bruce live with this knowledge every night? Dent said that there will be a time when Batman will have to answer for all the laws he's broken. Do you think this has made Bruce more fearful and paranoid perhaps, that someday his crusade as Batman will end, and that he will have to go to prison for all the laws he's broken?

Did you watch BB.

But seriously...

Either the second or third time I saw TDK, some big black guy sitting behind me applauded when Bruce Wayne arrived with the three women.
Hahaha

that's so stereo typical. but since it's a true story it's okay to laugh, so I will:hoboj:

I think Great1 summed it up the best: have you even see Batman Begins? Watch Bruce's prison experience in that and then get back to us. :)

But Bruce was in an Asian prison. He's like 6.2 feet tall while all the other inmates were below 5 feet. In the American prisons, Bruce would have to face White supremacist skinheads, big black thugs, and mexican drug gangbangers. Haven't you seen those prison documentaries on MSNBC? They're scary.

you don't think the asian prisoners did nasty things too? the point is bruce knows how to handle himself. hes a freakin master of kung fu

Yes, prisons are very scary. Now tell me, would you rather be an American locked up in American prison, or the ONLY WHITE American locked up in a prison halfway across the world where being Bruce Wayne means jack sh**, and if you die, nobody gives a damn? Asian prisons, usually, are considered way worse than American prisons. I've even heard them often compared to POW camps. Go watch The Deer Hunter for a little bit on that. Trust me. American prison would be a picnic for Bruce.

As for the offensive stereotypical remarks you made about the types of people you see in American prisons, do you honestly think freaking Batman would have a hard time dealing with those people? :o

I'm very sorry if you found what I said to be offensive. I meant no harm or disrespect. But in reality, those facts are unfortunately true.

Well, it takes a big man to apologize. :)

And sure, you get a bunch of wackjobs in prison, but Bruce Wayne is Batman for Christ's sake. If after watching BB you don't realize that he couldn't handle a bunch of, as you put it, "White supremacist skinheads, big black thugs, and mexican drug gangbangers", then perhaps certain parts of his origin just flew over your head.

That's the best I can offer. :)

The crook in the beginning said that the silent alarm didn't dial out to 911, but rather to a different number. Whose number was that?
