Okay, so in Trailer 2 at 1:29 Gordon runs into a room, gun drawn, with one of his officers. What scene is this from? It's stupid but I've been racking my brain and can't figure it out so I just have to ask. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRI47J6is9Q

it's from the bank scene(s)

Its when hes going into the bank vaults in the beginning of the film

Thanks. When you first mentioned the bank scene I thought you meant the Joker's crime scene and I couldn't figure out why he would go into that with gun drawn. I thought I was losing my mind until I remembered the other bank scene. :hehe:

I knew that when I posted :hehe:

how cool would it've been if Gordon DID come during the bank robbery and tried to stop it.:word:

This topic has been done already, but yeah, it does seem hypocritical to let Ras die but not the Joker.

Joker WANTED Bats to kill him to prove a point. Had Batman not saved him, the Joker would have won the "battle for Gotham's soul".

Tough topic. I'm sure its be debated alot. There really is no hard evidence why he saved one but not the other, other then the obvious that the Joker is usually everyone's favourite villain so that's why the director did not have him killed. I don't think letting the Joker die would have meant the he won. I don't think that a city under siege by a terrorist would have been disheartened by his demise. Furthermore, I don't think Batman would have made an announcement that he killed the Joker and he if had, he would have lost no more "believers in the Bat" then when it gets announced that he killed police officers.
The only thing I can think of, and its purely speculation, is that Batman left Ras to die in a runaway train. With the Joker, it was actually Batman's own hand that reached up and flung the Joker off the rooftop. Perhaps the more personal nature of being directly responsible for killing someone made Batman save the Joker. With Ras, he did jam the train's controls but he didn't tie Ras down in it or knock him out and leave him. He simply chose not to save him.

I think Ra's jammed the controls when he tried to stab batman. Batman just flew away from the situation Ra's had created. Ra's is the ultimate ninja and Batman basically gave him the chance to save himself. FWIW, in the novel, the police didn't find a body on the train. Like Dent, it's not a given Ra's is dead. :yay:

I believe Batman chose to save Joker over Ra's for a few reasons. Ra's Al Ghul put himself in the position of death, and due to his "surroundings", he died. It was more or less his fault for putting himself in that area, hence making Batman less responsible.

However, Batman tossed Joker off the building. He would have been directly responsible for that death, and he couldn't let that happen.

Question time!

When Harvey Dent is being transported to the prison, the streets were cleared down for them? And when they saw the firetruck they couldn't just go to the civil area since
1) It wasn't cleared for them
2) Missiels could have hitted the cars and alot of civil casualties

And this is the reason they take the lower exit, right? Also if someone can confirm that US does have a law where mayor/someone can order the streets to be used for such transfers as Harvey had.

Fox: You've got P.O.V. on Alpha, Audio on beta

Thats what I always heard. I was Just assuming he was getting the visual feed combined with the Audio renderings

He's actually talking about two different kinds of visual feeds. P.O.V. - Point Of View, and Omni - Omnidirectional, which is a 360 degree viewing range.

Yeah, they couldn't shut down ALL the streets, only the ones that the route was planned for. In the IMAX version, you can see cross-traffic beyond the firetruck that's on fire.

I have no idea if the mayor or police department can shut down streets with less than a day's notice. I'm guess with the bureaucracy, probably not. But then again, this is also a movie where Gordon can be promoted from Lieutenant to Commissioner in one fell swoop, and with only the mayor's approval. :funny:

ah I see, I wrote what was written in the script though the film line makes more sense
He does say Omni, it's in the subtitles when watching it cc'd. It stands for Omnidirectional, which is just another kind of viewing range.

Yes.

He wanted to corrupt Gotham City, to show that everyone was just like him when push came to shove. That was the whole point he was trying to prove with the ferries.

If that didn't work, then he had his ace in the hole, Harvey Dent.

Batman: "This city just showed you that it's full of people ready to believe in good"
Joker: "Until their spirit breaks completely. Until they get a good look at the real Harvey Dent, and all the heroic things he's done. You didn;t think I'd risk losing the battle for Gotham's soul in a fist fight with you? No, you need an ace in the hole. Mine's Harvey"
Batman: "What did you do?"
Joker: "I took Gotham's white knight, and I brought him down to our level. It wasn't hard. You see madness is like gravity. All it takes is a little PUSH! Hahahahahahaha!!!"
