yea, especially with Batman able to withstand all of Two-Face's goffy traps too.

Well I wanted to make sure and see it multiple times before I rated this film and gave my thoughts on it... I just saw it for the 3rd time this afternoon... And I officially voted for "10".

The first time I saw it, Midnight IMAX screening, I came out really frustrated, kinda dissapointed, and just overall confused as to why some of the things had happened... My biggest gripes where ALL THOSE ALTERNATE SHOTS NOT BEING USED... Wow was I bothered by that. Especially the shot from the back of the Joker walking down the street towards Bats with the Joker to the side. There were just alot of things about the film that was not sitting right with me(Harvey being Dead was a big one)...

So, when I walked out of the film for the Second time, feeling really great about it, I was pretty suprised... Since I knew what to expect and what was for sure in the film, and what wasn't, there was no personal dissapointment to be had, just the film to look at and judge... And I came out really impressed, really joyed, and loving the Batman film I had just seen.

Well this afternoon, I enjoyed the movie 10 times more than I did the last, and I really do think it is a classic film. It's just amazing, and I could go on for paragraphs and paragraphs about it, so I won't... But I will point out these v ery few things. With Every viewing, Eckharts performance gets stunningly better and more painful... With every viewing, the sequence of The Joker telling the Batman the two locations, and everything that leads up to that and the culmination, gets better, more disturbing, more painful, and has more of an impact. It is really one of the better scene's I can think of in recent film in those aspects. It just gets better to me everytime...

And ofcourse finally, Heath as the Joker is a Revelation. I was not a big supporter of the announcement of him in the part the day it was announced, but man was I wrong. This man left behind a performance for the ages, and I'm glad to say that I got to see it... Sadness comes to me whenever I think that I will never get to see him as Joker and Bale as Batman go at it again...

There are a ton of other things I could, and might even come back and say about this film... But yeah, now, after the 3rd viewing, it is a Masterpiece Batman film, as far as I'm concerned...

It's a superb movie. Very well directed, with a great story (not THAT complex), and much better action sequences than BB. Excellent acting, and I have to single out Bale, especially as Bruce Wayne - superb. Everyone is gushing over the other 3 male leads, so I thought I'd give the Batman some love (he could do with it after the ending).
Ah, the ending. Thematically, it's fantastic - Batman takes the hit (he CAN endure) to keep Gotham hope alive (and this would happen - think of the way the Kennedy's shortcomings were hushed up for years and a saintly image projected - no desire to tell the truth there). What I wonder about is how it can be resolved in part III without Batman and (more importantly) Gordon looking like liars.
But for now, I'm a happy bunny. Going to go again on Sunday, bring the missus this time.
Oh, the score is MAGNIFICENT.

Hey man, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Been wondering when you'd post a review. We've had it out here in Ireland for over a week now :cwink:

You should take the missus to see it in the Savoy. I got to go to the premier of it there, and it was absolutely fantastic. Terrific audience, too. Just a magical experience.

I was impressed with Two-Face's suit. I thought it was very well made to reflect his scarring.

I've seen TDK six times now. In at least the last three times I witnessed this...

People laughing when Gordon's wife slaps him after he comes home

I heard laughter during Batman Begins when Rachel slaps Bruce after he reveals his gun.

What the heck is wrong with people? That's not supposed to be funny!
Did this happen to anyone else?

Yes :o I guess people find slapping to be funny. And while it could seem that way in the Gordon TDK scene, it certainly wasn't supposed to be funny in the "Rachel slaps Bruce" scene! :o

I saw this yesterday night, and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nolan and Co. are definitely Batman fans, since they gave us a film that is every bit as epic as the best episodes of the DCAU's Batman series, with characters that were spot-on in every way. Everybody has been right in talking so much about Heath Ledger's Joker, but props also have to be given to Aaron Eckhart for the job he did as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. I can't ever recall Two-Face being used in such a small role before, or such a personal one, but Nolan and Co. wrote the character in such a way that having him be a bit-player in the midst of the action not only works, it enhances the personal in a way that the Joker - for all of his prattling and setting himself up as Batman's other half - never could.

I also have to talk about the character of Rachel Dawes. Even having ended up spoiled regarding her death, I was seriously hoping they'd keep her around because she fills a central role in the Batman mythos that none of the other heroines we've seen come into Batman's life do: she represents the normal life that Bruce gave up when he became who he is. Although I would've preferred to have Katie Holmes reprise the role for continuity's sake, Maggie did a superb job, especially during her two biggest scenes: confronting The Joker at Bruce's fundraiser for Harvey and her 'death scene'.

In closing, I've got to give Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman props for their roles. Both are extremely prolific actors, and both totally disappear into their respective roles in this movie, even moreso than in the previous one. Caine's Alfred is guardian, mentor, and voice of reason (even moreso than any other version of Alfred that we've seen to date), and also provides Bruce with a bridge between his life as Batman and the life he pretends to lead as Bruce Wayne. Having Bruce abscond with the entire Russian ballet was one of the most brilliant - and hillarious - things I've ever seen, and was perfectly complimented by the darker, more serious turn that Alfred's advice takes once the Joker escalates things. In the case of Freeman, he plays Lucius Fox with both a knowledge and naivette (sp?) that is captivating; at the start, we as an audience are left wondering whether or not Lucius is now aware of Bruce's double life, but the question doesn't stay unanswered for long, since by the film's end, we're shown that Fox is not only very much aware of what his boss really does, he's chosen to willfully aide and abet his activities, up to a certain point. Fox also gets to deliver what I consider to be the funniest line in the film NOT related to the Joker. ("Let me get this straight. You think that your employer, one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the world, is really a masked vigilante who spends his nights running around the city beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands? And your plan is to blackmail this person? Good luck.")

Holmes' lousy acting ruined that scene and turned it into a comedic moment.

People got quiet in that scene in Begins when I saw it. Worked at that theater.

what was Rachael about to say before she died when she said, "Listen, Some"..?

probly theres someone else out there for you or some cheesey crap, i'm glad she was cut off by death!!! whoohahahahaha

I saw it on Thursday 24th, just been busy since ( was in Prague for the weekend, then working very hard all week). Just brilliant. Hopefully get to it in Savoy, I love watching big movies there - we saw Casino Royale and BB there, great memories.

Agreed. As weird as it sounds it really breaks up the tension and seriousness the film has built up to the point. I had some giggling schoolgirl and crackling witch near me last night laughing at some extremely serious parts...really annoying.

LOL. At boxofficemojo, the third Mummy film only made 2-3 million more than TDK Friday(estimate). Hopefully TDK will take over on Saturday and Sunday.

You know, any flaws it may have here and there, fanboy nitpicks aside, just the experience of seeing this movie is unbelievable, every time I see it I get totally immersed and taken into it, in a way I haven´t felt in a while about any movie, and I include Batman Begins.
