Bring on Cassandra Cain I say. She's a meaner Batgirl anyway. Timm could do her justice.

Dwayne McDuffie on the evolution of “Double Date”: “I pitched a ‘Birds of Prey’ episode where, after Batgirl breaks a leg, Batman orders her off the case and she creates Oracle in retaliation. Huntress and Black Canary do her legwork without ever meeting her in person and crack the case. Batman’s suspicious but can’t prove it. The story didn’t work out, but we did get the terrific Gale Simone’s ‘Double Date’ script instead (courtesy of DwayneMcDuffie.com).”

Gail Simone on “Double Date”: “Bruce [Timm and Dwayne McDuffie were] already digging [Birds of Prey, a DC book written by Simone that features Oracle, Black Canary, and Huntress] and they asked me [to write an episode]. This is kind of a thrill, because getting the chance to work on the JLU is rightly considered a very huge deal in animation—not many get the chance. Since my whole career seems like a bizarre fluke to begin with, it took a while to sink in. Then I jumped at it; Huntress and [Black] Canary animated? Come on, that’s gold.

“Originally we were looking at doing something even more like the current Birds of Prey but, due to some weird rights thing, Oracle / Barbara Gordon wasn’t available. So, rather than try to do a half-way Birds of Prey, they wisely went a different route. The cast was their idea, but I’m delighted because, as regular viewers know, they’ve done miracles with the Question, who was already one of my favorite characters.

Bruce Timm on “Double Date: “‘Double Date’ is a thousand times better episode than the straight-up ‘Birds of Prey’ story we originally pitched, and as a bonus we got the funky Question / Huntress romance out of it, which ultimately added emotional resonance to the four-part Cadmus finale. ‘But we didn’t get to see Barbara Gordon one last time!’ you say…well, boo-freakin’-hoo! Sure, that woulda been a nice one-shot, but look at the big picture: we lost the battle and won the war (courtesy of Toon Zone).”

and there it is

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid suits can be. "No, you can't use Batgirl because we might possibly decide to use her somewhere else in something Batman-related, maybe." :o

Aye that really handcuffs the writers...at least we got a nod to Nightwing:csad:

Yeah, that split-second "cameo" in a couple frames of one episode? Totally worth it. :o

Everytime I see it I get a smile.

Which bring me to another thing...oh why do they have to dumb down cartoons in america for kids yet...those same kids can follow Dragonball Z.

Do you mean the actual stories or the art styles themselves? Because I have a problem with the latter...

Dragonball isn't really all that high concept. Bleach on the other hand, would have been a better example.

Or Death Note. That series is so complicated that it needs to explain things constantly. I swear to god, if I hear another Death Note character say "in other words," I'm gonna kill someone.

they try it with gundam wing.

Either kids are unable to dedicate themselves to a long story arc or are stupid or the fat cats upstairs think they are one of those statement.

I wouldn't have watched Death Note either, but I happened to be at my friends' house when they'd gotten the first disc from Netflix and I thought it was an interesting concept. Since then, it's just become a swirling mass of confusion with secret plans wrapped in other secret plans wrapped in making others believe you're ignorant of those plans and so on.

I mean in terms of story and plot twists...I was using Dragonball Z as an example. Teen Titans just felt dumb down to me, yet Batman TAS which had 6 years to Adults watching it with adult plots and adult action. Batman TAS still sold tons of toys, tee shirts, etc.

By the way did anyone like LOSH on Kids Wb?

I will take fat cats upstairs for 400 Alex:o

No. Okay stories, subpar animation and the thing that really ticked me off... NO MON-EL! :cmad:

I agree very subpar plus they had to have Superboy to get this thing greenlighted:csad:

The JLU LOSH ep ran rings around this show.

I thought it was okay. I was disappointed that Cosmic Boy wasn't in it more. He's a founding Legionnaire, after all, but he was treated as an infrequent guest star in the first season and a frequent guest star in the second.

How can you have a Legion and instead of having Mon-El give us a clone Superman with a social problem? Lame.
What happened to Timber Wolf's Wolverine hair in this? I mean TW had the hair style way before Logan was created by Marvel.

That cartoon had no business getting greenlit because it appeared not to have been well thought out. :csad:

It wasn't that bad. Neither was Teen Titans. They had some pretty good episodes in both.

Once you got used to the fact that it wasn't Timm and company, it was quite enjoyable. Especially Teen Titans.

I don't even want to get into the whole Bat-embargo nonsense, but I think it's incredible they used that, yet Superman had Superman Returns, Smallville, Superman|Doomsday, appearances in The Batman, Justice League Unlimited and that Legion show all within a year or so of each other.

Well, the embargo doesn't seem to apply to the main characters. Batman was in JLU and The Batman and Batman Begins at the time "Double-Date" was being made. It only seems to apply to other characters in their supporting casts for some reason.
