The Death of Batman (?!?!?)

Then have the kid turn into the next generations batman.

seems no one wanted to touch my what if you could write The Death of Batman story....

You know, I got used to the Batman Beyond kind of 'killing' of Bruce's Batman. The irony of the birth of Batman when a gun took his parents and now a gun was used to save him when a punk was slamming him with the pipe in the Batman Beyond premiere movie.

I would make use of that irony, and actually have him 'accidentally' kill an innocent couple who was walking home from a movie with their young 8 year old son after he lost the use of his legs; and created a robotic set to use in the meantime until he took an innocents life as he tried to avenge his former sidekicks death. (Yeah, I know....Armageddon 2001 Dectective Comics).

Then, Bruce Wayne is condemned to spend the rest of his days in Arkham.

Screw Morrison. Let the DC boards write Final Crisis.

Yeah, I did that only I made him Robin while Tim becomes Batman. Because in my mind Tim Drake is the next Batman; has been since he deduced Bruce, Dick, and the rest of the Bat-family's identities all by himself.

Detective skills wise: I agree Tim makes a better detective to be Batman

Fighting skills wise: I would say Jason makes a better fighter to be Batman

Agility skills wise: I would say Dick makes a better aerielist to be Batman

Passion wise: I would say James Gordon to be the heart and spirit of Batman

In essence it takes four people (and maybe more) to equal one Bruce Wayne.

Alfred has all those things, and a British accent. :o:up:

Actually, given that Dick is more agile than Bruce, Cassandra (I'm replacing Jason with her because Jason will always suck at everything) is a better fighter than Bruce, and Tim--by Bruce's own admission--should one day be a better detective and thinker than Bruce, it'd take four people to exceed Bruce Wayne in every way except "heart and spirit," whatever that means.

Now, if you're saying that they all have strengths and weaknesses, I agree. But Tim just needs to train more and he'd be a better fighter, and aerialism isn't exactly a hugely necessary part of Batman's repertoire. Tim keeps up with Bruce on rooftops just fine as Robin already. Brains and fighting prowess, that's where Batman really needs to shine, and Tim could do both at least as well as Bruce with a little more seasoning.

I have always believed that they have been grooming Tim to be the next Batman for when they kill off or retire Bruce...

He has said that given Tim's mind he will be the World's Greatest Detective one day and he has enough time to be on par with Bruce eventually as far as fighting skills...

The one thing needed to give Tim that final Batman attribute would be rage and more of a thirst for justice which I think could only come from witnessing the death of Bruce himself...

With Tim already facing so much tragedy in his life and always having him there as a secondary father figure/guiding light in his life I think losing that final piece would make him driven enough to become the next gen Batman...

Do you know who'd be a great next-gen Batman.......how about Bruce Wayne? Like every other generation before this, and hopefully every generation to come

I do agree but unlike Superman who is an alien and Wonder Woman who is a goddess...the idea of eventually replacing a human Batman isnt that much of a stretch...

People don't really age in comics though...if anything DC would just have another crisis and bring in a younger earth 47 Bruce Wayne or something lol

 Most characters can be replaced...but not Bruce, he is way too unique and the only true Batman

I think it was #TIMDRAKEWILLNEVERBEBATMAN of BRUCEWAYNEISALWAYSGOINGTOBETHEONETRUEBATMAN Comics.

hey I'm not saying I want that to happen or it needs to happen...I'm just saying I dont put it past happening with all the changes you see nowadays in comics anything is possible...

Oh PLEASE! This reminds me when Marvel replaced Tony Stark with a younger version of Tony Stark.....

That was one of the worst stories EVER!!!! I mean come on Marvel knew they messed up that's why they had to create that Onslaught angle just to fix their screw up....

and don't even get me started on what they did to the Wasp, Cap and others....

Its close enough they deaged bruce and aged tim during the Sins of Youth saga, I would hate for DC to make the same mistake like Marvel did.

Legacy is inevitable.....Bruce is human thus one of these stories the time will come to pass the cowl to Terry (hehehe hint) or someone else due to his inability to continue because his body slowly started breaking down.

Tim is the perfect choice.....

They'll likely restart the universe again before they replace Wayne Permanently.

I think the problem with replacing a character is the question-- how much can a character change until they are no longer that character. It is one thing to draw out themes latent in a character and say one of those themes is the character (see Planetary/Batman Night on Earth), but it could be another thing to make the character go in another direction entirely. Could Batman be a villain? I don't think that would really be Batman.

The question you have to answer is this-- is Batman a theme? (Is it that anyone who can say, "oh I was robbed so I became a hero to keep this from happening to others" is "Batman"). Or is Batman a costume? Or is Batman Bruce Wayne? I think Batman is Bruce Wayne. One of the great things about Batman, Superman and Spidey, but especially Batman, was that you never knew where the line between civilian identity and hero identity was drawn, and it was never clear which identity was the "spare-time" identity. I don't think you can have a candidate for Batman other than Bruce Wayne without answering that question. You can give out as many rings in as many colors as you like and you can make anyone the reborn spirit of this or that god(dess) but you can't do that with Batman.

I'm saying that's what DC would probably do, not what I would want them to do. If it were up to me i'd just have Bruce not age...it is a comic after all and he isn't real.
