The dumbest crossover in history?

Wow. Watch them come out with a Captain America VS. Iron Man event.

:(:(:(

well that was enough for me...im logging off and restarting my computer in hopes that this was a glitch

They're trying to branch into new audiences. It's a back-up story. Who cares? If it pulls in 2 new readers, it's worth it.

Man, if this isn't desperation on the part of Marvel and CBS network TV, I don't know what is. No doubt it's designed to goad those "working moms" into buying comics for their kids, although I'm sure the real reason they're doing this is so they can have an excuse for the soap actor to have bedroom romps while they dress up in superhero costumes. *Cue scene of husband, oddly looking like Reed Richards, walking in on his wife and her lover in the act dressed up as Sue Storm and Namor respectively--plus shameless cheesecake shots of the cassanova wannabe wearing green speedos for all those desperate housewifes watching*

Yeah, I can see a lot of middle-aged housewives getting into comics based on this.

marvel did that in the 8o's with WCW COMICS i could see the characters from csi ny being drawn in a marvel comic but marvel superheroes on THE GUIDING LIGHT? that could only work as a costume party sequence:ninja:

So is this going to be in continuity? It's obviously going to be in continuity for Guiding Light, since it will be an episode of the series. From reading that interview, it even seems that the Guiding Light writers are trying to fit Marvel into their universe, by making numerous subtle references, and by not treating their character's powers as anything out of the ordinary. Will this be canon for Marvel?

i'm curious how the'tr gonna pull this off
i could see the UNIT's characters being drawn in a seen which requires a miltary unit or drawing a shield esper squad member to look like melinda gordon -clancy[GHOST WHISPERER'sjennifer love hewitt but SOAP OPERA characters?

i watched some guiding light with an ex-gf about 8 yrs ago (circa 98 or so) - not too bad as soaps go

i think this is a fun, "no-harm-done" kind of thing, and for those of us who actually have girlfriends, it's a good way to introduce them to comics. My current gf always talks about how comics are pretty much soap operas. Even though she doesn't watch that soap, she'd watch it with me and laugh.

Incidentally, she's an elementary school teacher, and we recently purchased a bunch of Power Pack back issues (and i donated #'s 1 &2) for her kids' library. I came in and talked about comics in general.

The kids were way excited and asked some really good questions like "Do comics always feature Character v. Character conflict or are there other types of conflict (like Character v. self or character v. nature?" They also asked all kinds of pre-fanboy q's about spiderman and wolverine - not one question was about DC characters, incidentally.

So, the producers of Guiding Light saw that Heroes was doing well, and are trying to copy that formula. Marvel, seeing that they could make money out of something totally unrelated to them, is taking a break from destroying their own universe, to destroying someone else's. One nobody really cares about.

I don't see why this is a bad thing, though Marvel's interference still makes no sense. Couldn't this have been a Dark Horse book like WWTBASuperhero?

Don't forget Spider-Man and the cast of SNL VS. The Silver Samurai.

When you first said that, I kinda thought that you were kidding, and I was imagining Will Ferral fighting SS or something. Then when I saw this, and knew they meant the old cast (which are better than a lot of the newer ones IMO :) ), and looked it up....ya.

Well atleast some media stay true to their roots, I mean it's not like wrestling is a bad thing in WWE anymore and their making segments brining in Kevin Federline and the Jackass stars...oh wait. (Seriously, I think I'm done watching WWE, derailing thread or not, never seen a more akward segment on wrestling than Kevin Federline on it)

Its funny because middle aged women comprise the largest internet gaming demo, so I wouldnt be surprised.

i was thinking about how the gl writers would pull this off i can think of thre possible waysi gl's main vilian is businessman alan spaulding right? what if he had connections with marvels brand coreration or its parent company roxxon oil
or pehaps he knows one of the three shadiest buisnessmen in marvel
wilson fisk the kingpin of crime, justin hammer corrupt industrialist second only to the kingpin inhaving no evidense point to him and last but not least one norman osborn esquire seeminglythe most corrupt of the lot but he IS LEGALLY INSANE after all what do you think of my theory?

That would be awesomeness incarnate.

Wolverine meets Hulk Hogan? The Avengers meet the NWO? ****ing badass.

And this isn't Marvel, but someone do The Crow meets Sting. There could be a lot of mistaken identity in that one.

What they hope is that die hard soap opera fans will buy the book and then start buying other comic books. Thats all.

LoL i just remembered Archy meets the punisher. that was another idea thats too stupid for words.

This is probably worse though.

Actually, I thought Archie vs. Punisher worked, in a strange kind of way. I also liked the references to older characters from both publishers: Dino Manelli (Sgt. Fury & HC's), Josie & the Pussycats, Patsy Walker, The Shield,
Millie the Model, etc....
