"The End of the Beginning," - Smallville forums memories thread

Really? That must be a recent change then. I used to flip by the channel in the morning, and end up watching a mini-marathon of Smallville! :)

Can't believe that thread hasn't been updated in over three years!
There have been so many more SV hotties in the last three seasons (Zatanna, Cat Grant 1.0, Dinah, Kara, Tess, etc.)

It happend sometime around Labor Day. Now it's SV at 7:00am and Prison Break at 8:00am and 9:00am. I remeber when I first upgraded and got HD channels HD Net was showing back to back SV episodes twice a day I think it was. They have changed when SV airs at least four times now. And the whole time SV has been on has any character been seen in their underwear more than Allison? It seems like she's had her shirt ripped open every couple of seasons. I'm not sure I remeber any of the other women on the show having similar scenes. I know Lois has been in a swim suit a couple of times but other than that I don't remember anything else.

I got pretty bummed that HDNet reduced the amount of episodes each day, I was planning on rewatching the series before Season 10 premiered, but no dice. I mean, I have the DVDs, but I just like the purdy quality.

that does suck hd net reducing episodes from reairings. Also speaking of reruns, i wonder what network is going to take the rights to rerun airings. I would figure either tnt or syfy myself.

Syfy makes the most sense .

I'm curious about the Season 4 hate. It's actually the season that took a major turn towards the superman mythos. Lex shown as evil, Lois introduced.

I actually did hate the season myself when it first aired. I said it's to early for Lois and wht not. But looking back it's actually when SmallVille started getting really good.

Also I remember there rumors (and I have had some independnt confirmation it was true) that the plan at the time was to end SmallVille after Season 5 and have Welling play Superman in a new series of films. Of course we all know he refused the role, but lookin at Season 4 it makes sense how they began to speed up the process at that point.

See for me after season 3 which IMO was the darkest season for Clark. Season 4 was a breath of fresh air for me . I loved Lois's arrival which I thought was spot on prefect, (It's kinda ironic Lois finds Clark in the exact same cornfield The Kents found Baby Kal-El in the first meteor shower .) I loved the love/hate banter between them that you could tell their was attraction brewing between them that both of them were clearly oblivious to but to everyone else around them could see it .

I also loved the Clark/ Lex dynamic in which Lex was trying to reclaim his friendship with Clark after their fallout from the season 3 finale. Only for Clark to reject him . And Lex continuing to move closer towards his Dark Destiny.

I even like Lionel's redemption arc.

The quest for the 3 Kryptonian crystals was good except for the witch arc with lana.

I absolutely hated TPTB for incorporating lana in the quest just to give her something useful to do that kept her connected to Clark and Lex. But ultimately failled

Meh, as much as I rag on Season 4 it wasn't that bad. I just hated the witch plot, as it wasn't needed, although it did introduce magic as a threat to Clark, which was good.

But the season had some of my favorite episodes of the show in it: Crusade, Run, Transference, Onyx, and Commencement.

Plus some fun stuff like Blank and Krypto.

The season introduced us to Shelby and Bart aka Impulse. It showed the first major turn to the darkness of Lex. It introduced black Kryptonite. It was the season that brought back and subsequently killed Alicia. (I still miss her character) Plus it's the season where Chloe learns Clarks secret, and gave us the awesome Cliffhanger of Clark throwing the crystal in the snow. (And anyone who knew Superman knew where that was leading)

Pretty great season overall. :D

Loved the show. Favorite Eps When he first Flew Justice Absolute Justice Leigon Homecoming And When the last Ep Premiers. Great Show Over all.:yay:

I agree, in hindsight, the witch plot was just stupid, but probably not as bad as Super Lana Returns from season, because at least the witch plot helped Clark find the crystals to build the Fortress.

Though season 4 will still have the crown for the worst episode idea ever. Ageless with its exploding baby. :cmad:

But yeah, season 4 wasn't really all that bad. a lot of great stuff.

Ya syfy likely but I could see tnt too like how they got supernatural reruns and all that. I hope we see the show get on a nice reruns schedule once the show ends. As for season 4 hate, only thing I hated for the witch stuff.

I've started a rewatching old SV episodes again. I haven't sat down and watched Season 1 for at least 5yrs. I forgot how much I loved this season. I really miss the family dynamic it had and it was kinda weird seeing Clark smile and be so happy lol. I'm halfway through season 1 but I did have a question.

Besides "Homecoming" did bugboy from "Metamorphosis" ever return? He kinda just became a few thousand beetles at the end and I can't remember if he came back.

I've been doing the same thing I'm rewatching the complete series to prepare for the the finale. I've also been blogging about it for fun.

I did it last summer. But I'm probably gonna see some eps again. ;)

no he did not return before homecoming, only other freaks to have an encore appearance was ian, eric, tina, and the freak killer guy van(was that his name?).

As for early yrs episodes ya i havent watched any in such a long time. Might crack out some early yrs dvds one of these days.

Thanks, I wasn't sure. lol Tina Grier was 1 hot FOTW.

I just liked the general lighter tone of the season overall, which I felt fit a Superman story better. I always thought the Clark plays football plotline was great(it was one of the few Clark focused plotlines the show did that didn't involve relationships. I wish the show had more plotlines like that)

Way I look at witch Lana was it saved us the unneeded Clana angst of S3(so bonus marks there). Beyond that while I didn't have any problems with S1+2 Lana plots like Lana runs the Talon or Henry Small, those never were a selling point to me. I also don't think witch Lana was any worse then S3 Lana plots(Adam Knight or Lana wants to go to Paris), so while witch Lana was bad it has minimal effect on how I rate the season compared to other Lana plots(all which I could have done without).

It's funny re-watching you have a different perspective on the characters now. It's like watching origin stories lol. Watching Lana trying to serve coffee @ her first job and failing I'm intrigued to see how exactly they transitioned her to running the Talon. It's also funny seeing Chloe peck @ the computer while waiting for her dial-up modem to connect. lol

I just watched that episode:woot: Its hilarious that Whitney wrecks two cars within five episodes.

One scene that always makes me laugh whenever I rewatch the series is in Delete when Chloe is amazed how Adam can hack

I'm intrigued to see how exactly they transitioned her to running the Talon.

There is a scene at the end of Kinetic I believe that eerily hints at Lexana when Lana gives Lex a business proposal(2:40 into the video, just watch the final few seconds after Lex tells Lana this could be the start of an interesting partnership).

That clip just makes me sad lol.

It's just insane that this show is about to end. I've watched it since I was 11 years old and starting the fourth grade, never missing an episode. Now that I'm 20 and a sophomore in college, it'll be so weird to see this show actually end.

I still remember when it first started thinking about the day we would actually see Clark in the Superman suit. Now, after TEN years of waiting, we finally get to see it.

Another thing I've noticed is that it seems some writers completely forgot how old these guys were supposed to be. The first few episodes they have Pete driving around. Unless he's really really stupid he shouldn't be driving in the 9th grade. Also Lex sends Clark a truck after Clark saves his life. lol........o.k.

Now that I'm older some of these scenes make me feel like a dirty old man. Back in '01 when I first saw Clark peep into the girls lockerroom in "X-ray" I thought nothing of it. Now it just seems really pervy.

The early seasons are so addictive, I rewatched it from seasons 1 to 9 last year and its weird how much its changed but as you watch it through you see it progress to what it is today.
