I have to resist the urge to call this a premiere, but anyway some thoughts...

So Strathairn is playing Ashford after all. Must've missed the memo. Also, I expected Melba's casting to have at least as much fanfare as Anna's or Monica's, given that she's a POV character and all (I was crossing my fingers for Pom Klementief, but I suppose she's been a bit busy lately.)

Hardly recognized Ari Millen, with his Jon Snow haircut and not looking like a serial killer for once.

Alex's chat with Bobbie was a nice touch, maybe my favorite scene of the episode.

I guessed awhile ago that Drummer would take the place of Sam (and share the same fate ) but now it looks like she's filling Bull's spot. Not sure how that's gonna play out, but either way she's in for a rough ride.

The way Miller appeared to Holden, they play it like it's the first time, which is a pretty big change IIRC. The way Holden was dodging Monica's questions, I would've figured Miller's occasional visits was one of the things he didn't want to share.

Also, I was definitely wrong with my theory that the cliffhanger would be [blackout]the Roci going into the Ring[/blackout]. The way things are moving, that might happen next episode.

Now I'm expecting that the season will end with [blackout]the bloodbath after the Slow Zone hits the brakes on the fleet.[/blackout]

I bet the contracts for the seasons in the can are in stone. They can't seize what is already done from Netflix. They might even take the exclusive right to have the prestige product, even if they are sharing it.

Jeff Bezos announces Amazon is picking up 'The Expanse'

t's been a few days since reports indicated Amazon was close to a deal that would extend the life of sci-fi series The Expanse, and tonight at a National Space Society event Jeff Bezos made it official. Alcon Entertainment makes the show, which is currently airing season three on Syfy, and said in a statement: "We couldn't be more excited that The Expanse is going to continue on Amazon Prime!" The press release confirmed season four, while Bezos said the show will be a Prime Original "for the coming seasons."


I believe it was the show runners intentions to have 7 seasons.

Well it would be a prestige project for Amazon, like Bosch or now Cobra Kai on YouTube Red. I would think baring any type of catastrophic fail that they can measure somehow or the cast demanding RDJ like compensation the show will run as long as the original author keeps pumping out books.

Brilliant episode, just brilliant. This has become my favorite show on TV. I love the new characters and the conflicts that have been set up. Melba intrigues me the most. What does she get out of framing the Belt? I'm guessing that she's working on behalf of someone opposed to Belt independence. Someone affiliated wit Mao?

And that ending! Next week can't get here soon enough. Only I don't see how Holden interpreted Miller's cryptic comments to mean that they should slow down and enter the Ring.
