The Expanse

Go into a room too fast, kid...
My guess. The kid being the slingshot racer and Holden knowing what happened to him, in a stroke of genius he made the connexion.

It's fun watching/listening to the folks who haven't read the books trying to figure out what Melba's deal is. It's cool how the show gets to make it more of a reveal, while in the books (because she's a POV character), her motivation becomes clear a bit sooner.

It's a pity her brief encounter with Anna wasn't ripped straight from the book tho. I love that scene.

Memory resurgence, the reporter was in Defiance, I knew I saw her before.

I have a new theory about Melba. I think she and Blind Man are both being influenced or controlled by the PM. She blew up a ship and BM planted Holden's "confession" so as to drive him into the Ring.

I'm not entirely convinced; surely there'd have to be some connection to the PM for it to reach out (at least to Melba).

It's quite likely (I'd think?) that the consciousness of Miller still exists within the PM somewhere, and it's his consciousness that is ... watching/helping Miller? It may be conjoined with the consciousness of others, or a grander consciousness, but I don't see what reason there'd be for the PM to have someone sabotage ships.

I suspect Melba is working for a faction that wants to split up the alliance, but I don't quite think Melba is doing all of this by choice - I suspect she's being blackmailed, or [a group of people] are forcing her into this position.

I just realized that in addition to substituting Drummer for Bull, they've left out Tilly as well. Besides being another friend to Anna, Tilly helps the heroes discover what Melba's doing and why. So now I have no idea how they're gonna reveal that info (they've dumped subplots and characters much bigger than that before), but I really hope we don't have to wait until season 4.

Not knowing of the character you speak of (I haven't read the books), but I suspect it'll be Anna that takes her place and figures out what Melba is all about.

I thought the woman who was drinking with Anna during the religious group meeting might have been Tilly, she looked somewhat wealthy.

Possibly. Guess she didn't leave much of an impression with me. Then again, neither did Tilly until I re-read the book.

She is playing Tilly, the actress(Genelle Williams) confirms it on twitter, also saying she will be in a couple more episodes

I think the PM wants that part of it that's still stuck between the walls of the ship. We know that the crew of a scientists' ship went down on Venus, so the PM could be using the dead scientists to direct Melba and Blind Man the way Miller directed Holden.

The other alternative is that BM and Melba are both working for someone who wants chaos in the galaxy, in which case BM must have one hell of a death wish.

I was thinking about casting for S4/5,[BLACKOUT] and I really hope they can leave out Basia, he's one of the most annoying characters I have come across in book 4 (Cibola Burn)[/BLACKOUT]

Yeah, we're definitely seeing more of Basia, especially given how much attention they gave Katoa during the Io scenes.

Ah, thank you it had been a while since I had watched S2.

I completely forgot about him also. Had to Google the character to find out if hed been in the show already.

Looks like my first guess about Melba was the correct one. Damn, she's cunning. It's funny that her dad rejected the daughter that was most like him.

I'm kinda surprised that the Roci team went flying without an engineer. Wouldn't you want to pick one up before you went into Deep Space to confront the Ring?

Damn, Drummer's speech got me wanting to run through a brick wall.

After that super tense final scene last week this episode felt extremely anticlimactic. It wasnt bad, but it sure was underwhelming.

Okay, watching the newest ep, I remembered that I actually did recognize the actress (from Warehouse 13), but if I'd bothered to indulge my curiosity and check who she was playing, I wouldn't be over here wondering "Gosh, where's Tilly??" :whatever:

Anyway, I got unreasonably giddy with Melba's flashbacks.
It's great to have Florence Faivre back for a bit, and to see the whole Mao clan have their falling out. It's one thing to read about it on Julie's rap sheet like Miller did, but it's quite another to watch the actors and their chemistry, especially the sisters. I was also curious if they were going to amp up Melba's motivation beyond "he hurt daddy," but it doesn't look like it.
