The Expendables 2 - Part 2

Universal Soldier: Regeneration is definitely one of the best DTV Action movies made, which says a lot. It was more than good enough for a theatrical release, IMO.

I'm not going to say that ALL direct-to-DVD movies are bad, because sometimes films simply don't have the budget or the support to get a wide theatrical release. Still though, half the time I'm at a redbox, there are about 20 movies I've never even heard of, and they ALL look terrible. And about 60 percent of them star Val Kilmer.

Looks can be deceiving!

Agree; the score was awesome also but that didnt get a release either. :csad:

Lol, yes - it did rip off Carpenters synth a tad; but that's not necessarilly a bad thing.

Absolutely not. I loved it. Very creepy and sad, they way it became part of the ambient sounds, making Pripyat/Chernobyl almost like a haunted house/ghost town.

In fact the whole movie is awesome. The story may have been even more simplistic than that of The Expendables, but he Blade Runner/Frankenstein themes the amazing action and the performances which where a huge surprise, especially Lundgren who totally acted, I mean legit acted.

Awesome, awesome film. Can't wait for the sequel. I'm looking forward to it even more than Expendables 2.

Well, the next one is going to be a theatrical release... and for some reason it's in 3D.

I've never seen Universal Soldier: Regeneration, but answer me one thing. Do they explain how two dead guys managed to age significantly?

JCVD's character got freed from the Unisol system(as see in the first movie&the return)But over time got regressed back to original Unisol status&worse like a child cause he needs to be reeducated after many years of living normal again although he's still a fighting machine,Cause of his past he's send on a mission with a new unisol group to stop others!!

Lundgren's character is a clone created from a bit of DNA left from the original,I forgot IF they mention his age!!

Not to mention USR was gory and brutal as can be. I'd like to know how it didn't get an NC-17 rating, it was more than graphic enough to warrant it. And it used practical effects from the looks of it too, nothing digital which so many studios go for these days.

Not really, I think they mention slowed down aging. The film could be set ten - fifteen years from now. All the UniSols looked haggard and used. Again, going back to the Frankenstein aesthetic of the characters.

The poster I've waited 20 years for.

Oh, they did mention it. With the constant refrigeration, drugs, genetic tampering and such they are tying to keep the soldiers at their peak. They may age on the outside a bit, but internally every process is running as efficiently as it can.

As for direvvt to dvd movies. I love them. I go all the way back to straight to video movies in the 80's. But I guess that was a side effect of being a karate nerd and most of the good fight movies being smaller films. But directors like David Hyams, John Hyams (Universal Soldier Regeneration), Issac Florentine, etc do really great action movies on smaller budgets and don't look like crap. Also, a dtdvd movies tend to enjoy what they are more it seems. Action movies revel in their action, not like Hollywood movies that try to crowbar some message, or tacked on romance.

I can't wait till Biopremiar 22 Augusti!!!

Out of those three I admit I got much more exited for the Expendables 2 trailer,Batman is my favorite comic character&I overall like the Nolan films(although I can't say they've actually been Batman)and looking forward to ASM..But I'm just looking forward to E2 the most!!

I'll be there on day 1 for those 3 films though!

I'm IMAXing the utter hell out of TDKR. I'm Gold Classing Ex2. I'm renting ASM.

I'm wondering if they've kept any secret cameo's hidden from us for this movie... clearly the 3rd is a go so I wonder if we get any post-credit scenes or the like.
