Van Damme's done so many Action gems. Some of my favorites of his in no order:

Hard Target
Universal Soldier
Double Impact
Timecop
Nowhere To Run
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
Death Warrant

Van Damme is a boss. He gets a bad rap because he is an action star, but he has acting chops and always has. Sure, he has his crapshoots like Street Fighter but he also has some really great gems in his career. JCVD, like others have said, was great.

I definitely agree. I think he's a fine actor, maybe not one of the all-time greats but he doesn't have to be, he works for the kinds of roles he gets. He's done plenty of solid Action movies and has always been one of my favorites when it comes to Action stars.

Oh I agree, Nowhere to Run is on of my favorite Van Damme movies. I remember the whole marketing campaign back then was "JCVD, like you've never seen him before." The kids really did look to him as a protector and father figure.

I think NTR is probably his overall best performance. He put a lot of heart into his character there while still being the badass fans knew and loved. In NTR he wasn't just fighting bad guys, he was doing it to protect a mother and her children that he bonded with very closely.

In a little im suprised Van Damme didnt get a career like Arnold I mean he brought us John Woo(to America).
But growing up I watched nothing but action movies with my dad Jackie Chan and Vann Damme movies were always in rotation.

I remember Van Damme was pretty popular in the early 90s. Maybe not as much as Arnold or Stallone but he was definitely a star in his own right. I still remember how big Universal Soldier, Nowhere To Run and Timecop were when they came out during 1992-1994, which were arguably his peak years of popularity.

Oh hey I forgot about The Quest - another pretty awesome one and I didn't know until recently that JCVD directed it.

Van Damme did get some bad flicks offered during his latter years but it was also his drug addiction that screwed up alot of things.
In the immortal words of Rick James " Cocaine's a hell of a drug "

No love for Sudden Death? I liked that one more than The Question or Maximum Risk.

But I have yet to watch Double Team, I can't stand Rodman.

timecop is a masterpiece.

a *****ebag ron silver, mia sara's ****, and of course kickass time travel...superb.

I urge you guys to see Universal Soldier: Regeneration. It's an action masterpiece.

You're boring.

That was a joke, but do you really think discussing a DTV sequel to a long dead franchise is worth your time?

Either way I highly recommend it.

I've been meaning to see that one for a while, it looks good.

As much as I love some of his classics like Universal Soldier, Timecop, Bloodsport, etc. Hard Target will always be my favorite of his. The action scenes in that movie are just insane and Lance Henriksen is a badass villain in it (probably my favorite role of his).

It's a classic! Now just imagine if we would've got the speed boat chase scene instead of the horses. You've seen how great it turned out in Face/Off, I'm sure it would have put Hard Target over the top.

Hard Target's third act is probably one of the best American shoot outs ever filmed. I wish they hadn't put a leash on Woo.

The speed boat chase for Hard Target would've been awesome, but I still think the horse scene works, too.

I agree the third act of Hard Target is a non-stop action thrill ride. The motorcycle chase on the freeway, the trail chase with the horse and helicopter, the climax in the factory, etc. and all of the crazy shoot-outs, explosions and stunts in it. It's movies like that that make me an Action fan.

Lance Henriksen was a badass in that movie. To this day, I always wave a shoe in front of my peephole before looking into it if someone's at the door.

Speaking of Woo, I still enjoy watching Blackjack. Its a guilty pleasure, even if the Villian is a little over the top.

Well you guys should be happy to know Woo's next film Love and let Love might be a return to heroic bloodshed gunfights!

I loved Hard Target and Face Off. It's a shame how hollywood tried to ruin Mr. Woo as a filmmaker.

Wow, until I saw that gif, I forgot what a glorious mullet JCVD used to rock. That was serious.

So Charisma has a scene with the whole team? Does Lee decide to show her what he does and introduce her to the guys?
She started shooting scenes around the time the Norris/ PG-13 debacle hit and I wasn't sure if it was discussed.

No idea what scenes Charisma has in this. Would be nice to see her in a bigger role.

I have a hard time picking a single favorite scene from Hard Target, but Chance kicking the gas can on the hunter on the motorcycle then shooting it which causes it to explode and blow the hunter out through a back window is definitely up there. One of those movie moments that always put a huge grin on my face due to it's badassery.

I loved when he tore those guys up at the beginning of the movie.

Yancy Butler was so pretty.
Van Damme's mullet looked cool! :word:

Glad to see all the Van Damme love! JCVD has a BA in being a BA.
